  1. None of us down here in SW IN know the mascots of the Indy mega-schools. I figured Bears62 was for the Chicago bears too. Now nobody can ever say I didn't defend a GS fan....

  2. Which was crazy considering his starting backcourt mate at North Central, Jordan Walker, transferred at the exact same time to Cathedral and was immediately given full eligibility. This will be interesting to watch depending on how hard Warren Central fights this, and really for the sake of the other township schools they need to fight like hell. Could set a staggering precedent going forward that allows kids to transfer freely to a different school district without actually physically moving.

  3. I like it. It's an outside the box type of thing. The B!G really needs to look at this, as we all know how lopsided the two divisions are.

  4. What makes Westfield a better program than Pioneer? What makes Hamilton Southeastern a better program than Adams Central? Just curious what your criteria was when coming up with a list of "what makes a great program."

  8. This is interesting....thoughts? Do you see other conferences following suit? How will ND now factor into the ACC? I don't see ND considered as a primary partner to any of the schools. (see bottom of the article for partner schools) https://www.tomahawknation.com/florida-state-football-fsu-seminoles/2022/6/28/23186485/acc-announces-new-football-scheduling-model-starting-2023-syracuse-miami-clemson-yearly-schedule A new way of scheduling conference football games is coming to the Atlantic Coast Conference. Floated as a possibility the minute that the NCAA stopped requiring divisions to determine conference championship game participants, the ACC made the move official on Tuesday, announcing a new scheduling plan that begins in 2023. The new structure not only allows for more frequent scheduling of opponents, but also allows the ACC to possibly produce an exciting championship game, one that has never particularly caught on as marquee event, either due to low-profile names or blowouts. Overall, it should help inject some life into a conference that has seen an overall decline, with its falloff in 2021 exposing the rot in the floorboards. The conference went 2-6 in bowl games, had only 4 teams win more than 7 games, and was 6-16 against in non-conference matchups.

  9. Maybe I am missing something. SEC had division format and was fortunate to have 1 vs 2 in different divisions. UGA had been pounding everyone, including blasting GA Tech 45-0 prior to the SEC Title game. Bama meanwhile has a couple of tough games prior to the SEC title game to include Arkansas and a 2 pt OT win in the Iron Bowl. Nobody was laying down. Bama just took it to them and won the SEC title. But both teams wanted it. Bama has some key injuries, UGA learns from their previous matchup and turns the table in the national title game. What I like about getting rid of divisions is the fact that the 2 best teams may be in the same division, yet one was eliminated prior making some of the championship games a yawner. The new format should hopefully increase the chance of the 2 best teams slugging it out in the conference title game.

  10. It is mostly dependent on what the school a student is leaving says. One of the questions on the transfer is "do you believe this transfer is for athletic purposes?" If that school says yes, then the IHSAA will investigate it. Even if a physical move is involved. We had a RB a few years ago...moved and transferred at the start of the 2nd semester. The school he left challenged it. The student was declared ineligible. That is the only instance I am aware where a move was involved and a student was declared ineligible. If the school a student is leaving just signs off on the transfer, the IHSAA will more than likely approve. The only time I can think of they didn't was when the younger Gordon brother was transferring from North Central to Cathedral. NC signed off, but he was still only given limited eligibility.

  13. I agree with you. I didn't realize until reading the article that the PAC 12 and American conferences already did away with divisions. According to the article, the SEC was also planning to do the same. I think it would make the Big 10 much more interesting. I don't think so....if the Big 10 follows the ACC model, just ensure Michigan and Ohio State are partners. Personally, I'd love to see Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State as partners so they could beat the snot out of each other annually.

  14. Giving some small school (1A-2A) love here, Pioneer, Eastbrook, Adams Central, and Linton are as strong a programs as any, across all classes. The yearly combined records in the past 9 seasons put them each in the top 15 all classes in winning percentage. If you want more recent than that, the past 3 seasons you'd have to add South Adams and Eastside to that list. There's a lot of good small school football going on in the state.

  16. I am a white male “senior citizen, raised a Catholic, and almost retired from a long white collar career. I do not consider myself a liberal. I didn’t vote for Clinton, Obama, or Biden. The Dobbs decision is unlikely to ever affect me in a direct way. But if I were a person of color, or a woman, or a Muslim, or a member of the LGBTQ community, I’d be scared sh*tless right now. Dobbs and the coach’s prayer case tell me that the Christian Right is in control. If the GOP gets control of the House in the midterm elections, we are going to see many, many freedoms that were previously thought firmly entrenched get rolled back. We may well be entering a period when intolerance will reach new heights in this country. We are supposed to be an enlightened society. But I fear the 21st century equivalent of the Dark Ages is looming.

  20. Well the IHSAA is raising the playoff game renumeration by $10 across the board at all rounds of all tournament officiating. They are also DOUBLING the mileage from .25 to .50 per mile. Another tweak is to the 300 mile limit. They are easing the limit to allow IN schools to play teams OUTSIDE of the 300 mile limit.... No further information has been provided in this circumstance. I am assuming that the changes in the BASKETBALL tournament will also be mirrored in baseball; This would ADD to the number of officials that could attain Regional status and help them out with points to advancement, in both sports. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/high-school/2022/06/23/ihsaa-basketball-tourney-format-changes-approved/7712674001/
