  1. The epitome of it wearing off was his pregame speech before the Purdue game. Man was that cringeworthy. Anything gimmicky just does not seem to work (row the boat comes to mind). Jusst the same, a coach who yells and screams all the time wears out too. It all just becomes noise.

  2. Notre Dame is just different. If they offer a scholarship to just anyone, then they're no longer unique. I love how they recruit smart kids who find their way into the playoffs. It's also refreshing listening to their post game interviews. Well rounded young men.

  3. Not supposed to get political here so I'll just say that the whole LEO concept played in perfectly to those who run IU. That's how we got stuck with Allen. They knew who he was when they fired Wilson to keep him. (He was heading back to Ole Miss.) Allen's style & IU are a perfect fit.

  4. Still not sure how Allen became a multi-million dollar coach. If he can do it, then there's 30-40 high school coaches from the state of Indiana who could do it also.

  5. I am torn on that comment.... I don't know much about TCU.....I do think they have a better QB than Michigan.....faster WR's....and their line won the LOS scrimmage battle, gaining more almost 90 more yards rushing...and that really surprised me. Michigan was down 21-6 at half and was always playing catchup. TCU made Michigan pay with bad throws from their QB. They ate up those interceptions. Claiming Michigan only beat themselves, its oversimplifying in my opinion, and it doesn't give credit to an opponent.

  6. Following Bob's lead from the ND topic; time to turn the page. Not holding out much hope for this coming season. 2 teams in the division making the CFP does not help. A number of players have entered the transfer portal; guys who could have played key roles this coming season. IU keeping Allen is purely a financial one on their part. I worry what it costs them in the long run; not that things will get much worse than last season, but there is no light at the end of the tunnel. And whoever the AD is needs to be fired. 1. for agreeing to the ridiculous buyout for Allen. 2. for allowing the season opener to be against osu. prediction....2 wins, Indiana State and Akron, providing that no one gets injured playing an angry osu team, who has shown they now love to pour it on when it comes to playing IU.

  7. Some of the Bowl games seemed to be unevenly matched when announced, and I for one thought the Tulane/USC games was one of those. Boy was I wrong! It was a good one! It's sad to see half empty stadiums in the first 3 games today, though. I hope the Rose Bowl has its usual big crowd. It looks like it on TV.

  8. Took a 5-6 Central Missouri team to 10-2 in five years. Took a 4-6 Sam Houston State team to 14-1 in just two years. Tulane was 3-9 in 2015. Now sitting at 12-2. How come it's always the football coaches with the best players in the country who get dubbed as the best coach in the country (Nick Saben)?

  9. Why does LSU continue to throw the ball up 42-0 in the 3rd quarter against a team that is decimated with key players sitting out? I'm not sure winning 63-0 vs 42-0 will earn him any more good graces by the LSU fan base. Can someone make sense out of this for me? Maybe a coach or former coach?

  10. As much as I dislike BK, I can't criticize him for running up the score against a depleted Boilermaker team. It was bound to be ugly, and it was. Not much a coach can do but play his entire bench.

  12. Always nice to see USC gag one up. 🤮

  13. IU didn't exactly handle Idaho (FCS) this season. ISU and Akron will not be gimme's.

  14. I don't think you want to overwhelm your locker room with TOO much love, that could backfire. "Love your teammates" has become cliche'. You better come up with something different if you want to win football games. Football players are suppose to have a killer instinct. How bout this...........respect your teammates, kick ass, and have fun while doing it. In a sportsmanship kind of way of course. And throw out the "all business" approach. Let your kids have swagger. They'll play loose, they'll play better.

  15. Next years schedule. Quick glance I’d take 10-2.

  16. Guy walks into the library and says “I want a book entitled ‘Pavlov’s Dog & Schrodinger’s Cat.’” The librarian replies “That rings a bell, but I don’t know whether it’s in or not.”

  17. Those games are the worst. Nothing worse than losing to an inferior opponent. TCU proved to a formidable opponent, but the better team will be sitting at home on January 9th. It happens at all levels.............and it's hard to move on and forget.
