  4. Anyone know what his 40 time was coming out? Most of the top backs coming out of HS run around 4.5. On the recruiting websites like 247 they always state whether a kid runs track and if they have measurable speed times. If he wasn't running in track events or didn't have any measurable times for recruiters, that could've hurt his stock, especially when you take into Temp's point about white skill players (which we all know is true; "sneaky quick", etc.)

  5. Speed? Interesting comment....how many time have you seen Steele caught from behind during his CG days in the MIC or with Ball State in the MAC? Definitely has had some decent TD runs. Maybe he doesn't win a ton of 40's, but the young man has football speed for sure. Bruiser? If you mean he doesn't go down on the first or 2nd hit.....but he is a different back than let's say a Charlie Spegal. I don't see Bruisers as backs that hurdle guys, and Steele has done that pretty darn frequently.

  6. The perception surrounding a white running back/skill position player gives recruiters pause. A subject that makes other folks uncomfortable, but not me. (Also, Carson’s speed is an issue and most modern offenses don’t want a bruiser but rather a guy who can make guys miss in space and put them in their rear view mirror.) Just my opinion.

  7. On the targeting call I've had several veteran college officials disagree on whether the contact was initiated with the crown or not. And they are all watching the same video. It's amazing how we can all watch the same thing and see different things. That's why even replay is not perfect.

  8. I don’t know anything for sure about Dugger Union. I think their goal is to play 11 man football, but if their numbers are low they will do 8 man to keep the program going like they did this past season. I included Anderson Prep in the enrollment data since they have had a team, but they didn’t play this past season. I left Greenwood Christian out when I posted this, but they have an enrollment of 201 this year and would be an addition to 1A. Enrollment numbers for grades 9-12 are used. Not every high school has an 8th grade that directly feeds into their school, so it would be difficult to use 8th grade data. I think the initial enrollment data used when the transition was made to class basketball only included grades 9-11.

  9. I think they see 4 star out of HS going to UT and moving on not because of lack of skills, but more so UT recruited 2 bona fide (more than likely) 1st round draft picks behind him. I think that is where the excitement comes from. Also, a few days now post Bowl game, some of the stories coming out of West LA on Brohm Corp are now becoming more out there, things I had heard already but now being spoken on by local media. Interesting to say the least. Not going to bad mouth Jeff Brohm, but seems like many folks were ready for the new era to begin

  12. Being the HC in the MIC is a full-time job unless you don't want any of your players to get recruited because the coach can't leave the classroom. The scholarship money and incentive for kids to get grades and participate in football at a high-level pays for itself. Coaches could be in the classroom just like the band and choir directors, but they have to teach different subjects just to get a fulltime job. Instead, we have penny-wise and pound foolish thinking. Sports should be the Gifted and Talented or Advanced Placement of Physical Education. Our current situation is to do without physical education to the detriment of our student's health. Give everyone an "A" for participation so we don't negatively impact the GPA of an honor roll student. It's a joke.

  13. Any of those four would be logical choices. Woodlan would probably have the best "small school" feel, but beggars can't be choosers. Another, albeit not quite as attractive, option is Harding. No action Friday nights anymore at that school, so they wouldn't have to worry about working around the "real" home team's schedule. Little farther drive, but with Maplecrest going straight through to 930 it wouldn't be unreasonable. My father still lives on the outer edge of the SE side and he can make it to Georgetown Square, via Maplecrest, in what seems like no time at all.
