Yeah, the Bears are already in contracts negotiations to purchase the massive property once owned by Arlington International Racecourse. They are rumored to be closing in Q4 of this year. They aren't even entertaining the idea of staying at Soldier Field, which would still be owned by the City of Chicago. Lightfood is just trying to save face to the casual fans who will be foolish enough to think she tried to keep the Bears in Chicago. They technically don't even reside in Chicago as is. Their HQ and training facilities, Halas Hall, is in the northern suburb of Lake Forest. The Bears are finally doing the right thing and building their own stadium with a surrounding entertainment district as opposed to continue to pay rent to play in a dump owned by the Chicago Parks Dept. I believe the roof will be closed or at the very least retractable. They're going to be want to host Final Fours and get a Super Bowl.3 points

Piratefan You dont know. You make things up all the time. Nobody went to Shamen. No locker room issues and NO one transferred. Read what the man said in the article. Family, family is pulling him away from city. As I have stated before been to every game for 20 years. My youngest played for him was team captain and loves the man. Wish my other two boys could have played for him. Just a huge loss for City. Wish Coach Mason nothing but the best and thank you coach !! A job well done !!2 points

More than likely, I believe he will be told by doctors to not keep playing. Not sure what league protocol would be either. I also do not believe that one incident makes you more susceptible to it happening again compared to someone who has never had it happen. I will be curious to see how this plays out for him. I am just glad he is still here and on the road to recovery. I did see he had a provision in his contract that he would only be paid a percentage of his contract if he ended up on the IR. The Bills front office, with the agreement of the NFL and the NFLPA, are going to pay him his full salary through this. Very classy move on the part of the Bills owner and front office.2 points

Surprised no one has mentioned this, could hasten the departure to the Pros?: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/michigan-jim-harbaugh-under-ncaa-investigation-for-alleged-recruiting-practice-violations/1 point

I believe he was AD at the time and it leaked that he told a HC Candidate for basketball that the candidate didn't want the job because the Portage Admin is horrible. They basically forced him out after that and he ended up at Michigan City. I think it was a mutual parting of ways and he wasn't fired.1 point

Do you think Michigan is chronically underrated, at least in part, because their coach is widely regarded as, at best, an oddball and, at worst, a nut bag?1 point

There are 3 programs and then everyone else, doesn't matter if you expand to 12 teams, its Georgia, Bama, OSU..............then next tier, the gap from top tier to next is unbelievably large1 point

You've somehow managed to play victim and bring Notre Dame into this conversation? Come on. NO ONE ever feels sorry for Notre Dame, nor should they. Pre-playoff they played by their own rules in the BCS and reaped the benefits. Join a conference for god sakes.1 point

This morning on ESPN I heard Mike Tannenbaum say the Bears should trade Fields for a #1 and a #2, and draft Bryce Young with the #1 pick, so they can “restart the rookie salary scale clock.” Sorry, I can’t get behind the idea of building my franchise around a QB in the age of RPOs who is 6’ and 190 lbs. He might have generational skills. But the most important ability in the NFL is “availability.” After watching what Jalen Hurts has done for Philly this season, and the vast improvement in his passing skills, that’s what I want for my QB. Fields is bigger, faster, and has a better arm than Hurts. If he spends the off season working on technique and mechanics, and they use the draft and their salary cap halfway intelligently, he will break out next season.1 point

I can’t help but wonder. Where are the people who were ripping Notre Dame for getting taken to the woodshed in the championship game by Alabama? “They don’t belong.” I don’t hear people saying that about cute little, feel-good story, TCU. I’ve also heard lots of comments about how small their student body is, compared to their opponents’. TCU has a little over 10,000 undergrads and a little under 2,000 grad students. Notre Dame has 9,000 undergrads and 2,200 grad students. But we never get to be David. We’re always Goliath.1 point

Keep in mind too the coaching fraternity is a tight knit group. Irsay has shown he is a big part of the problem with the team. Coaches see that. While Reich was not successful, he is still well respected in coaching circles. He will never say anything publicly, but coaches know. Sure, someone will be eager enough to take the job, but it will likely be someone with little to no experience as a head coach.1 point

Not all cardiac events are athletic career ending. I am still not aware of a definitive answer as to why this happened.1 point

Great question....I have been thinking the same thing once Damar fully recovers. I can't help from wondering what will be the opinion of his doctors...and how much that will weigh into both his decision and the decisions of GM's. So happy he is pulling through and on the right track. I so hate he has went through this life challenge....but the beauty from it has been absolutely incredible.1 point

That's because of SF. The OP indicated that they included Cathedral in 6A as they already have enough SF points to be bumped. All of the rest of the classes show the pure enrollment/placement as opposed to Sf considerations ... even though some schools like LCC are actually in 2A right now due to SF. By enrollment, Warsaw would actually be a 6A school, but will get pushed down due to SF pushing Cathedral up. Same thing happened to Harrison this go round as they were 32nd in 6A and got bumped down to 5A when Cathedral got SF'd.1 point

Since I posted that, I’ve spoken to a highly regarded athletic trainer I know. He related that there are a number of case studies of “commotio cordis” resulting from football contact. This is a condition where a sharp blow to a specific place, at a specific point in the heart’s rhythm, results in cardiac arrest. I was aware of cases involving baseball pitchers struck in the chest by a line drive, or a hockey player by a slap shot. So, it’s entirely possible that this routine looking tackle is what caused his arrest.1 point

Agree completely … if the diagnosis of commotio cordis is established and his arrest and resuscitation did not cause heart damage. But since CC is pretty much a diagnosis of exclusion (“we can’t explain it any other way”), I think it’s also pretty unlikely any cardiologist is going to go out on a limb and clear him to return to play.0 points
