  3. Agree big time with #1. Young is 6'0 190. That's even smaller than Tua who is taking a beating. For comparison, Fields is 6'3 225. Also, by all accounts from the Chicago media and Bears leadership, Fields handles himself with a lot of maturity and has already established himself as a leader in the lockerroom. Getting back on topic, why is Young consistantly ahead of Stroud in mocks? I don't see enough of a difference as well for Houston to be worried about getting the #1. My guess is the Colts will be the team to trade up to get the #1. Ballard said he would do whatever it takes to get a QB at the top of the draft. It could have just been an off-hand comment to a beat reporter from The Star, but we all know the Colts desperately need a franchise QB.

  4. Curveball you know how nba has tank for victor? Well next year Caleb Williams available so I’ve seen scenarios with Texans taking a defender with 2nd pick. Caleb Williams projected to be up there with luck Lawrence and all other number 1s So this might hurt bears value on number 1 pick if teams are taking a longer term view Also Hopkins under contract so I don’t think they can sign him

  5. 1. I know I am no NFL personnel guy, but if I am Houston, how do you give up any capital to move up PACE style 1 pick? I do not see that big of difference between Stroud and Young: However, I would be worried about 6'0 qbs, but thats just me. 2. Logical, Panthers/Colts. 3. No Costner, Draft Day scenarios will unfold, they will hopefully make 1 real good trade, stay in top tier of picks and get more picks in process Try to sign Hopkins or trade for Adams with FA capital Also, Love Smith: BEAR 4 LIFE but I wil die on the hill that Bears franchise set back 15 years when they fired him after 10-6 season , man his teams played hard for him

  6. No, not in terms of fairness when it comes to polls. If I was part of the poll committee. I'd have to go Georgia, TCU, Michigan, then Ohio State based on head to head matchups. I'm a pretty fair guy. But if someone asked me off the record who I thought were the best four teams at the very end of the season, I'd have to go with Georgia/Ohio State as 1a/b. Michigan at #3. In my opinion, #4 is an absolute crapshoot. What is hard about a poll like this is the fact that some teams just match up better with others. Michigan being a better matchup for TCU than Georgia. Just because TCU got embarrassed by the Bulldogs, doesn't mean Michigan would have. Michigan handily beat Ohio State, then Ohio State almost (should have) beat Georgia. LSU beat Bama, does that mean LSU is deserving of a higher ranking? Of course not. Polls are a bitch. I commend you for the effort you put into the weekly high school poll.

  9. The Republican Party is too dysfunctional to even fathom the unintended consequences, hence my earlier comment. This is political theater and a non-starter. They’re too busy worrying about state sandwiches and ram rodding abortion law down everyone’s throat and none of it does jack shit for Hoosiers.

  11. https://nypost.com/2023/01/11/penn-biden-center-is-dark-money-nightmare-patronage-mill/ The Ivy League think tank where lawyers found classified materials linked to the Obama White House is a patronage mill for the Biden administration, raising suspicions among critics that its establishment attracted tens of millions in donations from anonymous Chinese donors. The Department of Justice is probing how “a small number” of classified documents from President Biden’s years as vice president ended up at the Washington, DC, think tank that bears his name, the White House confirmed Monday. A second batch of papers was found at an additional location, it was reported Wednesday. The University of Pennsylvania received more than $30 million from Chinese donors shortly after the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, which functioned as an office for Joe Biden before he was elected president, was announced in 2017, according to public records. “The Penn Biden Center is a dark-money, revolving-door nightmare where foreign competitors like China donated millions of dollars to the university so that they could have access to future high-ranking officials,” said Tom Anderson, director of the Government Integrity Project at the Virginia-based National Legal and Policy Center. The University of Pennsylvania raked in a total of $54.6 million from 2014 through June 2019 in donations from China, including $23.1 million in anonymous gifts starting in 2016, according to public records. Most of the anonymous donations came after the university officially announced in February 2017 that it would create the academic center named for Biden, whose term as vice president under Barack Obama had just ended. In addition to leading the think tank, Biden was named a professor at the school. The Ivy League institution received $15.8 million in anonymous Chinese gifts in 2017 and one $14.5 million donation in May 2018, three months after the center opened, records show. “The Penn Biden Center has never solicited or received any gifts from any Chinese or other foreign entity,” said a spokesman for the University of Pennsylvania. “In fact, the University has never solicited any gifts for the Center. Since its inception in 2017 there have been three unsolicited gifts (from two donors) which combined total $1,100. Both donors are Americans. One hundred percent of the budget for the Penn Biden Center comes from university funds.” The center does not list any of its fellows or administrators on its website, and does not have separate financial filings. It operates under the auspices of the University of Pennsylvania with a mission of engaging “fellow citizens in shaping this world, while ensuring the gains of global engagement are widely shared,” according to its website. Meanwhile, former fellows and administrators of the Penn Biden Center now have key positions in the Biden administration. Michael Carpenter, the former managing director of the Penn Biden Center, was named the US ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, based in Vienna, in 2021. Secretary of State Antony Blinken also briefly served as director of the think tank before joining the Biden administration in January 2021. Before that, Blinken was a policy adviser for Biden’s 2020 campaign. Juan Sebastian Gonzalez, a senior fellow at the center from April 2018 to September 2020, is special assistant to the president and the national security director for the Western Hemisphere at the White House, according to his LinkedIn page. The sensitive material at the center was discovered by Biden’s personal lawyers on Nov. 2, 2022, while they “were packing files housed in a locked closet to prepare to vacate office space,” according to a statement from Richard Sauber, special counsel to the president. Sauber said Biden used the Washington, DC, office space from “mid-2017 until the start of the 2020 campaign” in April 2019. After Biden was elected president in 2020, the center said it would operate “completely independent of the Biden administration.” Yeah - I'm pretty sure the former Vice President surely wasn't keeping classified documents there. I mean he was the VP, not POTUS, so he really didn't have the clearance anyway, right? I meant the generous Chinese would have given millions of dollars to the university anyhow......Yeah, nothing to see here.....But - TRUMP - What's he doing?!!!!

  12. And I suggest before you decide to support this bill, you find out where the revenue is going to come from to replace those funds. Sales tax? Right now Indiana is in the middle of the pack nationally when it comes to sales tax. Any increase will push Indiana to the side where it taxes sales at a higher rate than most other states. How about property taxes? Indiana currently has a cap on property taxes. That will change if there’s no income tax money. Does this extend to corporate income taxes? Or just individuals, i.e., voters? The state income tax burden on Hoosiers is not great … until you also add in the counties’ income taxes. Are those going away? The fact is, a tax policy should be comprehensive, balancing the fiscal burden imposed by all taxes on the economy. Elimination of the state income tax without addressing these other concerns is simply pandering to the voters with fool’s gold. The Republicans purport to address those concerns with the study commission this legislation establishes. They will find out that taxes are like playing Whack-A-Mole. Knock one tax down, and another pops up. There can be no meaningful reduction in overall tax burden without either cutting government services, performing them more efficiently, or both. The former is politically unacceptable. The latter is practically undoable. Be interesting to see what this commission recommends.

  13. Your explanation made sense to me. But here are some examples as well. 4 year rolling cycle would mean the IHSAA would look at success in 2019-2022 when determining which class a team should be slotted for the 2023 tournament. Evansville Mater Dei: Sectional (19), Regional (20), Semi (21), State (22) = 10 points If you looked at 21 & 22, Mater Dei should be up in 3A next fall. But SF only includes 2022 success and will be re-evaluated AFTER the 2023 season. A 4 year look would probably say EMD should be bumped up. Indianapolis Roncalli: Sectional (19), State (20), Sectional (21), Regional (22) = 8 points East Central: Sectional Loss (19), Sectional Loss (20), Sectional (21), State (22) = 5 points East Central will get bumped to 5A if they win regional in 2023. Under a 4 year roll, Roncalli would have more sustained success, especially if they replace the 2019 Sectional point with 2, 3, or 4 in 2023. But Roncalli will get bumped up ONLY if they win state in 2023.

  14. ***Anyone who can explain this with better clarity...please chime in. After reading this it may be clear as mud.*** Instead of SF points only being added together in a block of years (2 year classification cycle), they would accrue over any continuous 4 year period. I like this because you don't have the arbitrary occurrence of School A winning back to back titles in the "same cycle" and moving up, and school B winning back to back titles in separate cycles and not moving up. Also a 4 year period is longer and doesn't allow one class of stud players to effect the classification of an entire program. More points over a longer time shows that the program is truly "successful" and not just a really good class. Does it mean schools will be bumped up or down more often? Yes Does it mean sectionals will need to be adjusted more often? Yes Is it ok if the answer to those questions is "Yes"? Also, yes.

  18. Piratefan You dont know. You make things up all the time. Nobody went to Shamen. No locker room issues and NO one transferred. Read what the man said in the article. Family, family is pulling him away from city. As I have stated before been to every game for 20 years. My youngest played for him was team captain and loves the man. Wish my other two boys could have played for him. Just a huge loss for City. Wish Coach Mason nothing but the best and thank you coach !! A job well done !!

  19. Yeah, the Bears are already in contracts negotiations to purchase the massive property once owned by Arlington International Racecourse. They are rumored to be closing in Q4 of this year. They aren't even entertaining the idea of staying at Soldier Field, which would still be owned by the City of Chicago. Lightfood is just trying to save face to the casual fans who will be foolish enough to think she tried to keep the Bears in Chicago. They technically don't even reside in Chicago as is. Their HQ and training facilities, Halas Hall, is in the northern suburb of Lake Forest. The Bears are finally doing the right thing and building their own stadium with a surrounding entertainment district as opposed to continue to pay rent to play in a dump owned by the Chicago Parks Dept. I believe the roof will be closed or at the very least retractable. They're going to be want to host Final Fours and get a Super Bowl.
