  1. Glad this family was able to make this personal decision to benefit their son. That's the way it should be. Now I'm going to shuffle off to a 2A thread to avoid that whiny Sheridan announcer complain that benefits like this should keep parochial schools out of 1A.

  2. The IRONY of it all.....to read his apology it was behind a paywall....... I read his apology, made no reference to the actual main issue, NOT THE HEART gesture....nope it was the ole "do that back to me, we will be just fine". line was the absolutely brutal.....then half the room laughed....equally vomit worthy.....

  3. Doyel has carried the woke flag on numerous occasions. Shouldn't he play by the rules he lives by?

  8. I actually heard that, upon the announcement that Faith Christian was going to go to 11-man this season, some 20-25 players from the LCC football team became Baptists and will be attending Faith in the fall. Lord, I apologize for that there.

  10. Some are and some of these laws have been shot down by the court. However; abortion is now a state issue. I think the supreme court made that clear. The absurdity is that "republican states" have law enforcement waiting at the border with pregnancy test...I HIGHLY doubt this is happening. Now, as with most things, this could occur, but to advertise that this is common is ridiculous. Scenario - a married woman decides to abort a baby at 6 months and does not tell her husband. She lives in a state where abortion past 3 months is illegal. The neighboring state allows abortion up to 9 months. The woman crosses the state line to get an abortion. Did she murder her husbands child? Scenario #2 - a married (or unmarried) woman who is 6 months pregnant is driving down the road and is struck by a drunk driver. Did the drunk driver kill one person or two? Gavin Newsome isn't going to win more votes on the abortion issue this year, it is an attempt to provide a distraction from the disasters occurring in his own state.

  11. I am still waiting on Doyel's apology/retraction article for claiming fans at the Indianapolis 500 would be the most irresponsible thing ever, that there is no way that college football could be played safely in 2020, that JJ McCarty was unworthy of anyone's Heisman vote and that Carson Wentz was the most selfish person on the planet. Dude is a fraud. But he is protected because he is a southpaw. A righty would have already been fired.

  12. https://fox59.com/indiana-news/lafayette-elementary-school-to-become-first-in-indiana-with-a-4-day-week/ Hmm. I assume teachers and administrators will still make their full salary as if they were teaching 5 days a week, and now they even get more time off during the calendar year. And support staff that gets paid hourly, like custodians and cafeteria workers, will make less. Nice. And the real losers will be the children. The dumbing down of the government school system. Maybe this will make more parents decide to home school their children.

  13. I don't think he'll ever live this down, so that's enough for me. I have no control over what other entities might do, such as his employer or the Indiana Fever. Honestly it wouldn't bother me if the entire Indystar empire ceased to exist. It was the most toxic work environment I've ever seen.

  14. No one in my mind has been more woke than Doyel over the years, especially going beyond sports to dive at political issues such as covid vaccines, (picking on certain athletes while letting others off the hook) civil war monuments, gun control, etc. Hard to earn much empathy from the local reader base when they have read his countless attacks over the years in the Star and on social media. His apologies through the Star and social media....many not sure they are sincere. Live by the sword...die by the sword.....

  18. I would say Howard County has multiple high schools (throw Eastern (Greentown) in there as well), not the city of Kokomo. Although Taylor is close. Residents of the Northwestern and Western school districts want nothing to with the city itself, other than a job a Chrysler/Stellantis transmission plant. The city of Kokomo did once have two high schools. Haworth High school was open from 1968 to 1984, and the current Kokomo high school building on the southwest side was originally the Haworth building. IIRC Haworth had it's own sport facilities except for basketball where both schools shared historic Memorial gymnasium, a decision that rankled a lot of Kokomo fans at the time.

  21. Hall of Fame Coach Mike Spencer who coached at Perry Central, Tell City and Corydon Central passed yesterday. I personally did not know Coach Spencer, but this is a blow to the coaching community in southern Indiana. While he was retired, he was still around the game and Corydon Central athletics. I know many people who had wonderful things to say about him. He will be missed by us, and I am sure by those in Perry County as well. Condolences to his family and friends. I know this was on the main page, but this affects the MSC and PLAC specifically.

  25. It really falls short in comparison to the atmosphere at other 3A playoff locations over the past few years. I've been to some poorly attended playoff games at Enlow. That said, during the Lindauer Combs era things really picked up.

  26. Saying Fort Wayne ( what ever school it is) helps people know where said school is located. If you just Snider most people would have no clue where that is at.

  29. If memory serves me correctly, the difference between Penn and Center Grove that year was minimal even though the outcome was double digits. Penn wasn't exactly dead during the Yoeman era, they were just hit or miss............and never good enough to win the whole thing. But let's be honest, they were in good company in that regard. Snider's offense was probably average, maybe a little better than average, by Snider standard. But the defense, one of their best ever, was good enough to keep them competitive in any game in my opinion. I like the direction the north is headed in. The two year winning streak over suburban Indy speaks volumes. The addition of Craig Buzea I think is a game changer for the north. I think Penn should be excited about the new hire. His resume appears pretty solid. I think Dinan is committed to keeping Carroll up there as a contender in 6A. He has the resources to do it. Homestead had a downturn in talent the last couple of years. When they uptick, with the combination of beefing up their schedule, they'll be back in the conversation at some point. Elkhart has the student body and a new coach. I'm a "glass half full" regarding the north at this point.

  33. I mean, it’s easy to cherry pick data points to fit a narrative, but I remember how shocked I was the night that the much hyped clash between Brownsburg and Westfield (on Westfield’s turf I mind you) was over in the first half. So, looking back no. I don’t think Westfield was on the level of BD, Brownsburg or CG. But I still thought they were a tier above Crown Point.

  34. Going to miss 1A! Wish we could have got 1 out of the 3 before leaving, but being there 3x in row was awesome. See if SA can get back soon to represent Adams County. Be nice to get Bellmont in 3A, AC in 2A, and SA in 1A to Indy the same year. I can dream!

  37. Sectional alignments will go a long was in determining the north in my opinion. There's a possibility of Judson, Laville and Pioneer all being in the same sectional or in 3 different sectionals depending on where the committees put them. I think Judson is the favorite in the north this year. They return nearly everyone from a semi state team that is well coached and physical.

  39. With the recent seeding proposal shot down quicker than ...well I can't come up with anything "catchy" - but anyway, with it being shot down it got me wondering. The NFL/NBA commissioner has to answer to the owners of the league. Who does the IHSAA "brass/higher ups/executive committees" quote/unquote have to "answer to??" Like...who hires these positions? And...who/do they have bosses to answer to? The IFCA presents a proposal for seeding...the IHSAA just says "NOPE"...and that is it?? The IHSAA decides they are going to do this new 1A-4A classification thing for non-football sports...and they viola - it happens! Meanwhile, their is a big contingent that thinks it would be a better idea in football to have the biggest 32 in 6A...smallest 32 in 1A, then rest split evenly...but the IHSSA says - NOPE!! I will admit I am ignorant on the whole deal so there may be an easy answer to this...but sometimes it just seems to me like the IHSAA higher ups are like the almighty OZ.

  46. I actually don’t think this game will be all that close. Luers may hang around for a quarter or 2- but in the end I see NP’s physicality wearing them down. Give me NP by 17
