  1. Carroll at Penn - Carroll squeaks this one out by 7.

Fishers at Northrop - Ugly season comes to an end for Northrop

Homestead at Hamilton Southeastern - HSE by as much as they want.

Anderson at North Side - Northside gets the running clock in the 2nd half.

Snider at Dwenger - Snider takes this, but Dwenger at least gets on the board.

Leo at East Noble - If the same EN team shows up from last week and can eliminate the mistakes from the first matchup they take this one by 14.

Dekalb at Columbia City - Dekalb managed to beat a much more athletic New Haven team last week, wouldn't mind seeing them pull this one off, but I think CC is just too far ahead of Dekalb.

Mississinewa at Huntington North - HN got a nice win last week, Ole Miss takes care of business.

Norwell at Concordia - Norwell by 21, Cadets keep it close for a half.

Garrett at Yorktown - Yorktown by 35.

Luers at Churubusco - Luers better not look past Busco or they could be sitting at home for the sectional champtionship.

Eastside at Manchester - Ugly game.

Bluffton at Tipton - Don't have a dog in this fight at all.

South Adams at Adams Central - AC continues what should be a run to the state finals.

  2. The second season is here and we get some out of conference match-ups we only get this time of year.

    4A

East Noble @ Angola.....EN needs to make it to the sectional championship to keep the 20+ year winning season streak going.. EN by 14.

FW SouthSide @ Leo.....Rough season continues for South. Leo by 28.

New Haven @ Dekalb.... Depends which New Haven team shows up. If the team that remembers they have a top receiver in the nation it shouldn't be close. New Haven by 21.

Columbia City @ Wayne..... CC won their super bowl winning the NE8, they get caught looking ahead. Wayne by 2.

    3A

Norwell @ Heritage...... Norwell bounces back after falling short against CC. Norwell by as much as they want.

FW Concordia @ Woodlan.... Concordia by 35.

Bellmont @ Garrett.... a lot of drama surrounding Garrett this season. Bellmont pulls this one out by 1.

    2A

Prairie Heights @ Luers.... Ouch. Luers by 56.

    Churubusco @ Central Noble.....Busco by 42.

    1A

Fremont @ South Adams.....South Adams by as many as they want.

It wasn’t Delta. It was Mississinewa.

11 years ago Wayne had several players ejected after the clip above. I will let the clip below speak for itself. Not sure if this shows everything that happened, but the reaction from the Wayne players is unacceptable. The coaching staff did a great job corralling the kids and getting them back to the sideline.

Again this was 11 years ago, different head coach, different players.

Some familiar faces to some on the officiating crew though that probably remember this better than anyone.

Maybe a particular scheme needs to be seen to prep for the same challenge in the sectional.

    This 100%.

There is a reason Warren Central scheduled Warsaw in 2024-2025. It gives them another look at a very run heavy team to help prepare for the inevitable matchup with Center Grove.

In the case of Snider, I imagine they are trying to accomplish the same thing. EN usually has a good mix of run/pass and 2023 (assuming nothing crazy happens) should be year 3 for their QB with a bunch of the upcoming Juniors/sophomores having some good varsity experience. Wouldn't be shocked to see this series end up 2-2 at the end of the 4 year contract.

I like what Luke Amstutz is doing at East Noble. Going after schools like Cathedral, Penn, Snider, and Warsaw goes to show that he's serious about building and maintaining a program.

Quality guy and coach. He definitely has the kids bought in and isn't afraid to play anyone. I am sure he was very happy when Snider agreed to schedule them.

Not sure what you mean by this comment? Norwell has had a number of ups and downs in their football history and overall as a school they have a winning record of 300-281-1, with 6 double digit win seasons since 1980. They have 8 sectional championships to their name along with 2 state runner-ups (1999 and 2006).

Sure they had a bad stretch between 2010 and 2018, but even in 2012 when they went 0-9 in the regular season they won their first 2 games of sectional play before falling 14-7 against FW Dwenger.

Norwell has always been a strong program, especially being one of the smaller teams in the Northeast Hoosier/Northeast 8 conference.

To add to this, Norwell is in my opinion the very clear favorite next year in the NE8 as well. They have 5 shutouts this year and are letting up an average of 8.8 points/game.

  6. Westfield (10-1) at Carroll (Fort Wayne) (10-1)
GAME TIME: 8 pm ET, Gorsuch Complex.
COACHES: Jake Gilbert, 82-47 in 11th year at Westfield, 112-83 in 17th year overall. Doug Dinan, 90-44 in 12th year at Carroll.
    SAGARIN RATINGS: Westfield, 101.76, 3rd overall, 2nd in 6A. Carroll, 85.1, 20th overall, 11th in 6A.
LAST OUTING: Westfield defeated Hamilton Southeastern, 24-22. Carroll defeated Warsaw, 36-0.
OPPONENTS' RECORDS: Westfield 66-51. Carroll 56-57.
SERIES LAST 35 YEARS: No meetings.
    jh PREDICTION: Westfield, 35-24.

It's that time of the year again where we get to see what 6A in Fort Wayne can do against an Indy school.

Two very good QBs, but Westfield's O-Line looked MASSIVE. This will be Carroll's biggest challenge of the year, and they are playing their best football.

  7. Very interested in this game. Northridge shut down one of the best running offenses in 4A. If they come out and perform the same way we could see a very similar game. Ole Miss doesn't have a tough conference schedule, while Northridge is pretty battle tested and has definitely played better teams this year.

If Northridge comes out with the same energy as last week, I'll take Northridge by 7.

If you require perfection, you will always be disappointed.

I don't recall asking or requiring perfection at all. The officiating crew in this game is one of if not the best in the Fort Wayne area. I would take them every single Friday night.

Refresh my recollection as to why the call was “terrible.” All I recall is that it was a personal foul of some sort.

I will go back later tonight and pull the video so that we have something to visualize with my explanation.

For someone inclined to make excuses, it always seems to come down to “one call,” despite the fact that a typical high school game has close to 150 plays in it.

When it takes what would have been 4th and 14 from the 25 for a team who struggles to throw the ball, or kick a field goal from that distance to a 1st and 10 on the 13 it makes a massive difference. Leo may have converted the 4th down, we won't know and it really doesn't matter, but in my opinion it was still a terrible call that POTENTIALLY altered the outcome of that game. I realize now I should have added the potentially into my original post, but it is what it is.

    How was it tonight?

Seemed good. Northridge just really like to get started a little early a on a few plays.

Leo looked worn down, going to be curious to see if anyone gets suspended for what played out at the end of the Wayne Ole Miss game.

Anyone on here giving Northridge a chance at all to beat Leo or will it be ugly?

Northridge did a great job last year with Leo. Take away one terrible unnecessary roughness call and Northridge wins that game.

If Northridge wants to stay in the game they have to score every single time they have the ball.

There's someone on the Eastbrook-Tipton thread already looking ahead to the "inevitable" Eastbrook vs. Eastside matchup

I am sure this is more of a prayer that they get to play Eastside over Luers.

    3 hours ago, Bonecrusher said:

Has Eastside played as difficult of a schedule as Luers? Not as familiar with some of their opponents as I am with SAC teams.

No, Eastside's SOS isn't anywhere close to that of Luers, however after beating Luers in 2019 and losing in a shootout last year, this has the potential to be another good game.

They were clearly the more physical team. And I was mightily impressed by their QB and two very sure-handed receivers.

Something I am not used to hearing when it comes to facing Northwood. This is a great sign for Northridge.

We got back our top CB, albeit with a cast on his arm (still got a pick).  But we're still really feeling the injury bug, with multiple key players out for the year including qb1/ safety/LB and arguably rb1/rb1a/LB.  Our starting stud LT just got his cast off his arm also.

The kid playing qb for us Friday night was Tagg Gott, he's a baller for sure (2 ways).  He's our other rb1/rb1a guy converted to qb, which he hasn't played since Freshman year (junior now).  He went for 362 total yards, 4 total touchdowns against Northwood.

Northwood dealt with a little adversity as well and was missing a key player for an undisclosed reason on Friday.

I like our chances against a tough CC team, I believe this is where our conference schedule with Mishawaka, Concord, Warsaw, and Northwood really helps prepare us for the post season.

Well after hearing that Northridge was the more physical team against an always tough Northwood, I really like their chances against CC. Sounds like Coach Eppley is doing an outstanding job especially avenging a 42-8 loss to Northwood earlier in the season.

Always a good Friday night when we leave Nappanee with a convincing win, hope it carries over this Friday.

I have to be honest I was shocked when I saw the score. Did Northridge get some of their players back from injury?

I 100% see them beating Columbia City, they just have to slow down Bolt.
