Nothing would please me more than to demolish NJSP at home for the 3rd straight year. And all the chirping the week leading up to said demolishing.

    Chirping? Pun intended I'm sure.

I didn't realize the Bluejays were so confident the past couple of seasons leading up to AC. Everyone I talked to knows that Adams Central is a great program. You must be communicating with the wrong Bluejay fans.

The Jays would love to have the opportunity to play in a semi-state again, but they have a LOT of work to do to make that happen!

Don't know more about NJ than what I've read here and a little on the 1A thread, but they're running game sure seems to have a lot of people's respect.  With a lot of talk about the fullback (IIRC from the 1A thread) what do they run?  Flex bone, wish bone?  The FB in our slot-T, way back in the day, didn't get as many carries as teams we played that ran an option offense.

Coach Lambert often says that they run the flexbone, but it resembles a wing-t offense sometimes as well. The fullback gets the ball as much as the defense will allow him to.

    All:

Just wondering if there was ever any resolution to a Hoosier North Athletic Conference football champion following the 2020 season?

According to the John Harrell website, there were several games that did not play.

I realize that Pioneer was 5-0, but never played LaVille or Winamac.

LaVille was 4-1, but did not play Winamac or Triton

Knox was missing a conference game, Winamac missing 2 HNAC games, and Triton 1.

So several missing HNAC games due to COVID.

Just wasn't sure what the schools decided to do?

    Thanks for any reliable input.

    Not looking for speculation.

as always, the game is better

Pioneer was crowned conference champs after the 2020 season. It was decided at the principal/AD meeting.

Last year was a 3-way tie between Pioneer, North Judson, and Winamac.

Luckily for all of us Covid hasn't been an issue this year.

Oh I remember yours too! What's really funny is, a few months after last seasons game your head coach admitted to multiple family members that the field conditions helped them and hurt us and made both teams equal!

And I realize you still don't understand the differences between facts and excuses.

Coach Lambert fully expected to win the sectional game against Winamac last year long before he ever saw a weather forecast!

    What happened to North Newton?

Not enough players to play this Friday. Calumet Christian has been lined-up since Monday. Other schools were also contacted, but they had the same issue as North Newton. It's sad that schools can't even field football teams anymore.

Calumet Christian beat Hammond Noll a couple of weeks ago. They play Bowman Academy in a couple of weeks. Otherwise, they play a lot of non-IHSAA Christian/homeschool schools. They could be better than what NN would have brought, if healthy.

I can't believe the HNAC crowd hasn't been very active in this thread. From what I've seen on the HNAC threads, North Judson is all but a lock to make a trip to LOS. They should probably be #1 in the polls according to the things that I have read.

Full disclosure, I'm fully aware that I'm baiting them into responding, but we need conversation that doesn't have to do with AC and SA. Also, I do think that NJ is very good.

The Bluejays have a solid team this year. As their young talent continues to grow they should be better than last year's team. However, they are fully aware that Triton and Pioneer are in their sectional. Triton is very talented and North Judson hasn't beaten Pioneer since 2008!!!

Plus, everyone knows that Adams Central is the true lock to make it back to state!!!😀

You read a post from one fan thinking that NJ may go undefeated in conference. As for LOS, a guy from Rochester mentioned that he thought we may represent the north.

Why exactly are you exaggerating these details? I can assure you that NJ has not yet crowned themselves state champs, or conference champs for that matter.

    I think it was sarcasm!

  7. How good is Providence? I'm asking because I was bored and saw that they had an opening this week while I was looking at team schedules on John Harrell. I heard that Rensselaer might have an opening this week because North Newton is short on players.

Providence vs. Rensselaer on a neutral field would be a win for both teams! It seems better than both teams having a bye, if North Newton is indeed short on players.

My point was more about what seems to be a tendency for NJ fans to put the cart in front of the horse than it was about living in the past. At AC we don’t worry too much about living in the past because we’re ready to compete every year no matter what is lost to graduation.

To each their own. Act as a fan/player/coach as you see fit. I just know the same attitude was shared last year heading into SS. Complete underestimation of their opponents. I don’t think the NJ people had any clue what they were getting into. Maybe it’s different this year.

Enjoy the success that you’ve already made up in your heads. I’m sure after a solid season in 22 (which should apparently end in a state championship according to the NJ fans on GD), NJ will return to winning sectional every 4 years or so. Hope to see the Bluejays again in semistate.

1st, if you take Spanky’s posts as anything but NJ comedy, then you don’t get the point of his posts.

2nd, NJ could be very good this year. Everyone knows that who pays attention. Luckily, the staff and players do a good job of focusing on one game at a time.

3rd, everyone involved in the program last year knew that Adam’s Central was really tough! I would guess that you guys will be really good again this year. To say that the coaches and players were looking past AC is a false statement. However, there are always fans that look one step ahead, which is what is fun about being a supporter of a team.

I’d expect North Judson to be the top of the conference with Triton and Pioneer fighting for 2nd. Triton returns about everyone from last year, including some guys with 2 years of varsity experience already. I know I’ve seen some Pioneer people comment about how the team may not be super strong this year, but I have a hard time believing their tradition and coaching won’t carry them to a solid season.

North Judson will be very solid. Triton could be very solid as well.  On paper Pioneer looks like they'll be down, BUT they are a team that reloads not rebuilds. Knox also has a lot of guys back and a HOF coach.

However, you forgot about LaVille, who has everyone back from a sectional championship team! They will definitely be one of the contenders for a conference championship.

Just wondering who the “we” is you kept referring to.

The first two times I put "we" it was referring to the high school teams around the state.  The last "we" represents the people of the United States.  I can see the lawyer coming out in you here.

I hope I'm right and that your wrong on this one.  Time will tell.  There is still a lot of time between now and football season.

The NFL draft is about to start and I don't want to get into a guessing game contest over the pandemic.  Take care.

This is very speculative.. the idea is flopping for sports that don't have as many fans sitting in the bleachers, and are not "contact" based. The truth is going to eventually come out.. the media has everyone thinking that this virus is a nail in the coffin, its not. The stats are showing it. It just came out that 2 people died in Cali 3 weeks prior to what they thought was first death. They did an autopsy and the were positive. That means they caught this in mid Jan, neither had traveled. So what changed from January to March... media. These antibody test are going to let us understand so much more about this virus..

I'm confident we will be playing football this fall and starting on time. The media likes to play up the worst case scenarios and ignore anything that goes against that narrative.  The only way we don't start on time is because of the pressure applied by a single-minded media.  We the people are seeing through it.

NFHS should go to the targeting rules lower colleges do. Toss the offender.

What’s more detrimental to the game an opened hand slap or a helmet to helmet hit?

I know I'm just taking the bait, but I totally disagree.  Helmet to helmet hits happen during the flow of the play.  Some are intentional, but I would say most are not.  The NJ hits were not intentional by my judgement.   Throwing a punch, or open handed slap, have nothing to do with the flow of a play.  There is no place for them.  I don't believe that the kid deserves to sit out next week, but I disagree with your assessment about what is more detrimental to the game.

The letter of the law was enforced... not the spirit ...... An undisciplined team got ther cheap shots in.... with little to lose..... is what it is......

You can question whether he should of been ejected all you want, but don't make NJ out as an undisciplined, dirty team trying to score knock out blows.  The Jays have been anything but dirty this year.  They play hard and to the whistle.  They win and lose with class.

LCC was clearly the more talented team.  However, if you're trying to portray the Bluejays as a dirty team than you are being foolish.

2009 RCHS vs Wheeler game.  Wheeler had some sick dudes on offense, was running up tempo,  a bunch of formations to keep you scrambling.

We got down 12 to start the game and clawed back to make it 14-12 at halftime then got the ball to start the 3rd quarter.  Held it the entire quarter and scored on 1st play of the 4th quarter.

    https://www.nwitimes.com/sports/high-school/indiana/rensselaer-plays-keep-away-from-wheeler-defends-title/article_82a8f050-71d5-5e55-bb1b-cdf66f8946cd.html

I was in attendance for that game.  One of the best drives I have ever witnessed.  Bohannon carried the load for the Bombers.  He was a great player and an even better kid!

Wheeler had a great offense, but couldn't utilize it because the Bombers kept the clock ticking.
