Off Topic - But is there any way South Vermillion and Coverdale could swap places in their conferences? Cloverdale would compete much better in that conference of 1A schools under new energetic young coach Tyler Lotz, who is as good as cloverdale has had, and SV would see competition in the WIC that would prepare them for sectional run. Just a thought.

This would make so much sense. The WRC needs to make that happen

  2. Week 8 already

Covington throws their way to a win.

NV probably won't get another pick six from Blank this week but still gets the W

I think the seeger defense puts on a show and shuts down the visor attack

How many formations does RP run? Is their qb healthy yet? Will PH open up the Billy Bettis spread game? Don't think it matters, if 24 is on the field RP walks away county Champs.

NV over Attica 42-0. Falcons take out their frustrations on the Ramblers.

PH over CT 24-21. Wolves did some things differently last week offensively after some injuries, obviously were shutout by a good Seeger team but should be back at full strength and will get the ball moving.

FC over Seeger 28-21. Huge game for coach King after the shady way the Patriots fired him, he will bring all the tricks out this week and have his kids fired up.

    GOTW

SV wins by hook and ladder over RP with 8 seconds remaining. 35-34. Will Garman come out in spread or play smash mouth football? Can they stop the stud defensive lineman for SV? I just feel SV has too much speed across the board to let Hazzard run for 250+  Someone else will have to step up. This games turned into a pretty good rivalry. KA, I’d love to make you sit in the middle of Rox country but I will be in Virginia for a wedding unfortunately.

1-Most competitive week of the year, a user stated last week this is the worst the WRC has been in a very long time. Anyone agree?

2- If Lutheran makes a run will they be bumped up to 2A? Could SouthPut give them any trouble?

I dont know if you can say it's the worst the wrc has been. Maybe the powerhouse teams of the wrc aren't as good as past year, but I think overall it's a more level playing field. Maybe the wrc should think about kicking the visors out. It would probably benefit both. The visors could play some bigger schools and get more prepared for sectionals.

He actually had 16 carries, according to MaxPreps. I wasn't referring to the amount of carries, but when he was getting those carries. I recall RP being up I think 35 points in the fourth quarter and they still kept giving him the ball. Put the young bucks in and let them get some playing time

It's kinda sad really that a team that has had very little success over the years, gets rubbed in the dirt because they score points. From what I heard the Panthers looked a little sloppy in both games. Maybe the coaches were trying to sharpen the kids up a bit by playing them more. Or maybe they've had that done to them by every team that has played them in the last few years that they wanted a taste. If that's the case, the woofs and ramblers better watch out because if memory of the wrc serves me correctly, they never held anything back. Either way good luck Panthers and the rest of the WRC

Attica at Tri County- T's & P's for Attica, them as competition makes things more interesting in the WRC but probably don't get a W here or all season. TC 32-12.

Fountain Central at Crawfordsville- Probably a tough year for both programs. Might be time for the FC coach to saddle up ride off into the football sunset. C-Ville 18-14.

Linton at North Vermilion- Miners continue to feast on WRC teams 44-18 and it's never close.

Seeger at Benton Central- Could Seeger be the class of the conference? Tune in in weeks 3-9 to find out, BC 24-23.

South Newton at Covington- Covington probably has a few more athletes than a rebuilding South Newt can handle. South Newt can't handle that Beef House Speed, Covington 35-21.

South Vermilion at Sullivan- Battle of the Gold Pride chant. Sullivan shuts down the run and forces SV to pass. Gets ugly for the Kittens. Sullivan 44-12.

West Vigo at The Woofs- Wolves continue to struggle against a rebuilding WV but keep it close. Could this be a sign of things to come for the future of PH. Vikings tame the Wolves, 28-18.

Grand Valley Christians at Riverton Parke- Is GVC good? Are they terrible? Only God knows, but word is they are ranked nationally. RP won ugly from all reports though against a 3A program. RP may not have a pass in their playbook and literally don't call a pass to come away with a 21-6 win.

Don't have a pass in their playbook? The recap I saw said their 1st score friday was a long pass play to the running back. Evidently that kid can catch and run???

West Vigo is on the road the first two weeks at WRC schools South Vermillion and Parke Heritage. Looking forward to renewing the rivalry with SV. Not too sure what to expect in either game but it should be fun!

I wasn't on hand to witness but heard through the grapevine that RP gave the vikings some trouble and maybe a little more at their scrimmage. Did anyone witness?

I agree, Parke Heritage is the team to beat in the WRC. Can you imagine how fun the conference would be to watch if a couple of kids would have stayed home. I think the match ups would have been pretty fun to watch if Harper would've been at RP with Hazzard and Hines. If Luce stays at SV that gives them even more firepower from deep. Parke Heritage still wins without them but the games are more competitive.

I watched/listened to the BOW tourney last weekend.

Here are my thoughts.. and does it change my pre-season rankings?

Parke Heritage - Won banks without Christian, who is the best player in the conference. I stand with my prediction that they are the team to beat in the WRC. The freshmen Harper is going to be a force to be reckoned with. I was super impressed by how he played against South Vermillion. He single handedly kept them in that game, and stopped all of SV's momentum. Noble was a very good leader, and took over a lot when it counted.

South Vermillion - They gave PH a pretty good run for their money early. They seem to be very deep with subs, I feel like 10+ kids touched the floor for them in some capacity in both games. They look to have a pretty solid underclass, and Uselman/Garzolini are as advertised, and do the majority of their scoring. I'm interested to see how the Bush kid develops, and how the team progresses this year.

Riverton Parke - I didn't have them beating NV, but it was a thrill to watch. Hazzard finally started to score the basketball some, and ended up with 20+ against NV. They struggle to score the ball outside of Hines/Hazzard, and most of their offense just runs through those 2. Mullins looks to get most of his scoring off his defense.  I don't see them winning more than 5-6 games this year, but 3-1 is a great start.

North Vermillion - I feel like NV is still better than RP. They have been without a healthy Naylor, whom I expect will help offensively/defensively for the Falcons. I'm still not sold on them being able to consitsently score the ball, but they have put up 40+ in each game, which is an obvious improvement. They had a costly TF and missed free throws with 2s left to send it into OT. They did not look very competitive against South Vermillion. I think when Naylor gets back they are still in the middle of the pack in conference.

  9. The problem is their are no "rules" . The health dept gives a recommendation and the school can decide whether to follow it or not. Vermillion County health dept recommended going to e-learning and not having extracurricular activities. The D1's went to e-learning and chose to play football. NV chose to go business as usual.
