    Hats off North Central (indy)!!!!

Gonzo....you gotta love that....this is how I now see you...........

    2018 Hoosiers

Fair statement.....but they did earn more bowl games than the Hoosiers. But I don't disagree, conference was much weaker prior to expansion

    2018 Hoosiers

Now that one I agree with DT. MSU just had a bye week (2 weeks to prepare for the Hoosiers) following a tough loss at Arizona State. So given the history, and knowing that cannot lose another one this early, IU will have to be at their best to have a solid chance. Not sure I completely agreed with you about UVA. If you look at their history, they've won many more games than IU, been to considerably more bowl games than IU and went to a bowl game last year. I do agree they are on the bottom half of the ACC. But historically, the Hoos have been a better program that IU...at least on paper. IU had to go 3-0 to have a shot at a bowl....the Big 10 EAST is just so tough....they will have to earn 3 more tough games to make it....and none are gimmes. Perhaps Rutgers (road game), but IU has a tough schedule....they have winnable games to include Maryland, Purdue, Minnesota (road) and Iowa, but none are easy. Getting one from the Big 4 (MSU, Michigan, Penn State and OSU) would be a big bonus.
  4. Hey BD! Watching him play last week, man with his size, Dawand sure stands out. Mercy! Is his favorite sport still bball? What do you see him playing at the next level?
  5. I don't know Muda....my wife has been enforcing that rule on me for years. If I even get the sack and body weight look in my eye, the flag is out and thrown!!! We need to bring back the "Wild Turkey"!!!

    Eastern Michigan 20 Purdue 19

It certainly stings. You write a team a check for $550K and they still take the victory home with them. Ouch!!
  7. ??? The visitor stands were full and people were standing. I thought we put some nice coin in NP’s wallet.
  8. LOL...true...and vice versa....quite the adventure friday night driving from CG to Carmel and NC. LN, LC and WC typically not as bad, but still can be a challenge.

    Bears 2016/2017 and Now 2018

    This is for Coach Nowlin.......
  10. At least a team knows where it is early in the season. Adding New Pal was major deal...the Dragons along with Cathedral are the non-conference games, making it a really tough schedule. I think getting non-conference games isn't getting any easier. Not sure how the MIC schedule is set.
  11. Its a marathon and not a sprint Ly. Not sure why we want to make a call on greatness from such a small sample, at the beginning of a season. I will say CG's schedule is like running the gauntlet..the first 4 games are a bloodbath....what doesn't kill you makes your stronger...I guess.
  12. Ran a complete game out of the shotgun with a 5 wide receiver set. Days of Mouse Davis and the Houston Gamblers run and shoot of the USFL. It was brilliant. Defensively, CG ran a 3-5 with a full jailhouse blitz the entire game. Please share with the BD coaching staff!! 😉 Home crowd always great...students were jacked!! In all seriousness, Congrats Coach on earning Marian University Football Central Indiana coach of the week for the Copper Kettle victory!!

Calm down...no need for caps. Just a healthy debate. Saying it for the 3rd time, I disagree based on seeing both Carmel and New Pal play, I would put my money on Carmel. I haven't seen BD play yet, but guessing I would also lean toward them....just not sure until I do see them play. Again, if you want to make this judgment for one game early in the season, go ahead. Teams are typically judged how well they perform late in the year, and not for games 1 and 2. Carmel beat Louisville Trinity, but can't beat New Pal?? We just disagree man....and let's leave it at that.

    Center Grove @ New Pal

No doubt if New Pal was a bigger school that would compete with the MIC. Don't disagree. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. Mine is based on seeing both Carmel and New Pal play. Carmel is bigger, faster and deeper. I will see BD this friday, but I would assume the same from them. Careful making a broad judgment off one game. But, its your money. If you are going to make a judgment that NP is better than any MIC team other than WC, then to be credible, one has to stack the decks evenly. Let them play a similar schedule and see how they do for an entire season. Then you can make a true judgment is they are 2nd best in the MIC behind Warren. Other than CG, NP will not play another 6A team. That is not anywhere close to a MIC schedule and its the week in and week out that makes a team the best. Its a marathon to crown the best (or runner up)...and not a single game.

    Center Grove @ New Pal

after seeing both teams, I am not convinced New Pal would handle Carmel. We always rush to judgment after a a handful of games. Teams manage injuries, move players around, start to gel as units, etc. as the season progresses. Sometimes teams have a bad night and it all snowballs down hill. We all know that. I'm not taking anything away from New Pal....they are fantastic. But to say only WC is better than they are in the MIC....not there yet. Not even close. And playing a MIC team every week does take its toll....roster depth is essential in that conference.

CG finished 2nd to Carmel almost every season in the all sports competition...have won seasons as well. I'm confused about this fit issue that you all bringing up. CG has won their fair share of state titles and runner ups in a variety of sports. Yet somehow Avon fits better??

    Urban Meyer Death Watch

You are rationalizing DT. Meyer had a choice to coach at Florida, and he made it. While there, he could have straightened out the program, recruited the right guys....he didn't. Mark Richt is doing a great job at Miami. 31 arrests while he was at Florida.....31. I can't fault him? As a father of 2 daughters...the heck I can't. His loyalty to Bruce was more important that abusing women?? Especially, after the same man had did it before while on his staff in 2009 at Florida? This was a repeat abuser...not a one timer. Meyer is a husband and father of daughters...he owed it to them if no one else. This man in 2009 threw his pregnant wife into a wall.....think about that. Courtney does sound like a whack job. Does this somehow justify Meyer keeping her repeat abusing husband on his staff in 2 different places?? Where are you going with this one? Let's be honest...its about winning and nothing else. Had Meyer has a couple of .500 seasons prior, he would have been out the door. Winning and $$. OSU is a pimp, and Meyer is the prostitute. Nothing more or less. Guessing the pressure will increase.....Meyer will start getting "chest pains" again.....he will resign....and end up at another major program. But make no mistake...he's no victim...you taking Brian Kelly to task, does not wash the filth off Meyer.

    Urban Meyer Death Watch

yea...Urban is a victim...... 31 player arrests at Florida. Pulled the "my heart health and stress" to leave Florida and land at OSU.....got healthy real quick. Knowingly employed an assistance coach that repeatedly abused his wife at Florida and OSU...but at least he reported it to his boss in the latter case....and then kept the abusing coach on his staff. This is a husband and father of 2 female children. Lied openly to the media when asked it about it. Issued a superficial apology clearly written for him by OSU after his "slap on the wrist", never mentioning Courtney Smith. Finally apologizes to Courtney Smith after he was lit up again by the media Yeah....Meyer is simply misunderstood and getting a bad rap.......let's deflect from him and start talking about another coach. Meyer needs you on his staff DT....public relations expert.

As well as we don't seem to take context into consideration. Willy T Ribbs has openly defended Daly. But it continues in our political world where image counts more than substance.....now, let's punish Daly's son...who wasn't even born at the time of his Dad's error. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/motor/2018/08/24/eli-lilly-pulls-sponsorship-conor-daly-nascar-ride-road-america-racial-slur-derek-daly/1089166002/

The cupboard is pretty dang full. Lots of talented young ones coming up and many already getting serious playing time. Love the way the future looks. Just hope Coach hangs in there and stays to lead the future groups. Regardless of his choice, I have my long time friend’s back. Tough, tough offseason My struggle with this team so far is watching a ton of mental mistakes and a lack of physicality. 2 games in and I’ve yet to see a hit that gets the crowd’s attention on D, especially from the 2nd and 3rd levels. That’s not CG football. Decent sized OLine, but guess they need the time to gel. Teams stacking the box, but kids have to start making plays. 3 muffed punts in 2 games. Penalties are really taking their toll. Turnovers. CG typically plays with brains and power. I think they will find it. A leader really needs to emerge. Season is far from over. Tip my hat to New Pal. Great crowds last night. They have an outstanding team. Good luck Dragons. Love your game.

    Center Grove @ New Pal

That is really saying something as Coach Ralph has fielded some excellent teams during his tenure. What a gauntlet of a schedule for CG....first 4 games against Warren, New Pal, Carmel and BD....rest of the MIC schedule, then ending with Cathedral. No rest for the weary. Buckle of the chin straps boys and bring it....you have no other choice!!! Let's everyone stay injury free!!

    Warren Central at Center Grove

CG mistakes also gave Warren some short fields and no team can make mistakes against the Warriors. Give CG a little credit defensively. Bell still made an acrobatic big time 3rd down catch that was sweet. But he absolutely impacted the game defensively, with a strip sack forcing a fumble on a CG drive, and breaking up a pass in the end zone preventing a TD. He is a special, special player. It's game 1 fellas....long way to go. But Warren is everything advertised. Sometimes, you just have to tip your cap.
