  1. My father told me that Tony Hulman (Indy 500 fame) offered to finish the seating in the bowl if the name would be changed to Hulman Bowl. Reitz folks would not agree to change the name. Can anyone confirm or deny?
  2. Also, there was a ridiculous traffic tie up on 465 which did not appear to be only due to a traffic accident because the tie up was in place well before the game started and well after the game was over. We left 5 hours early to get to the game and got there 1/2 hour late. It's lucky the team got there at all. As far as going up on Friday for a Saturday game. How do you accommodate 60+players if you go up on Friday night? Where do you stay? How do you feed that many? How much does that cost? With all that in mind, If it's true that per the IHSAA a team has to be on the field exactly at the scheduled start time or they forfeit the game: I think it's time the IHSAA reconsider that policy for circumstances just like this. I would hate to think a late arrival could be engineered to cause a forfeit. Enough of that -otherwise: Beside the ratings, some more detailed comparison information: TC They lost their third game to Indy Lutheran 14-7, Indy Lutheran was beaten in their sixth game by Northview 26-25, Northview was beaten by Ev.Memorial in the tournament 28-6.
  3. All of these restriction are just proving social distancing and masks don't work. Where's the "science" behind a maximum of 500 fans in every sized field. Tell me why large football stadiums can't safely support more than 500 fans . In large venues, being outside, several 1000 people could distance far more than the so called safe six feet. And the "experts" wonder why people don't believe their recommendations.
  4. The IHSAA guidelines (from state stage 4.5) are full of more questions than answers. What is a set of bleachers - one row, one section that may be 20+ rows deep? For example how many sets of bleachers are at Reitz bowl. If you can achieve 6 feet of spacing and are wearing masks, why is there a 250 person limit for a field that could safely hold thousands? Restrooms seem to be big. I have been to many, many different stadiums and I can't remember ever seeing more that 250 people in a line for a single restroom. I certainly hope the local schools use common sense and do not try to copy the Ft. Wayne example. If they follow that example, you can start making a list of the other sports that will need to be eliminated since football and basketball revenue supports all the others. Covid will likely never be extinct as evidenced by most other viral illnesses. We have got to learn to deal with it rationally rather than with panic responses. Let's make this as great of a football season as we can. Good luck to all teams this challenging year.
  5. Can someone please confirm where in the IHSAA guidelines it says they have the right to dictate attendance. Also when did the IHSAA become a division of the health department of the state. Maybe the IHSAA should provide the schools funding to make up the difference from their average attendance income if they are going to limit their attendance.
  6. Here's an interesting fact to consider. According to Dr. Scott Atlas of the Hoover Institute. Every developed country in the world except the US has opened their schools many without social distancing or masks. This is because the facts are children rarely contract the disease and rarely transmit the disease. Check him out if you doubt this. Real life experience trumps all the studies to the contrary.
  7. This original posting, especially the comment about people will die, is sheer fear mongering, is despicable. and should not even have to be responded to. But, I'm glad so many have responded who understand that living is not about spending your life trying to protect yourself from every risk. People like the original poster will never be able to be pleased. Now that the virus has been released upon us we must learn to live life with it and not be boarded up in our own little cocoons. (Which by the way has been shown not to protect you).
