Stats aside, its going to come down to how the Jays react in the big game atmosphere this year. Last year, they showed up and it seemed like the moment was too big for them and they layed an egg (pun intended). How are the kids and coaches going to respond to that?

Could’ve played the game last year 10x and would’ve been a similar score.  AC was that much better.  Teams that take the field this year are evenly matched.  Should be a good one.

Warsaw at Carroll - Carroll opened eyes across the state last Fri handling Penn the way they did.  Chargers roll 31-14

North Side at Snider - A great year for the Legends comes to an end to a deeper, more disciplined and better coached Snider team. Panthers 35-14

Leo at Columbia City - Col City has had their postseason scare/wake-up with Wayne.  Lions keep this close with their blitz happy D. Eagles 28-21

Yorktown at Norwell - Norwell win the sectional title and get their final win of the season. Knights 35-10

Bishop Luers at Eastside - Luers first winning streak of the year comes to an end in Butler in a close one.  Blazers 31-28

Eastbrook at Bluffton - Hard to bet against a Coach Adamson team in a sectional final, so I wont.  Panthers 31-7

Adams Central at Northfield - Not even a bump on the road to state for AC. Flying Jets 49-7

No faith in my Knights vs Chatard?

  3. Warsaw at Carroll - Carroll big

North Side at Snider - Snider by 7

Leo at Columbia City - The first game was closer than the score appeared.  Leo by 1

Yorktown at Norwell - Yorktown didn’t impress against Garrett.  Norwell by 21

Bishop Luers at Eastside - Eastside by 1

Eastbrook at Bluffton - Bluffton is a year away.  Eastbrook by 21

Adams Central at Northfield - AC big

Thanks @Purdue Pete but that list doesn’t tell me much. Much like the one I attached It’s a list of teams in order according to an algorithm. All of the algo’s are different (some, like yours, omit out of state opponents). So I am going to assume you believe that Lawrenceburg will beat Owen Valley and face Norwell at LOS/

How many teams in the north play out of state? 1 Chatard.  Everyone on this site (except apparent u) knows chartad is favored to come out of the north.

Another thing to note - they and Yorktown are, by a pretty significant amount, the two smallest schools in the Hoosier Heritage Conference. The only time Delta plays a team smaller than them in enrollment (during the regular season) is when it plays Yorktown ... and Yorktown *never* sees a school with a smaller enrollment during the regular season.

What Yorktown has done this year has been impressive - they went 6-3 playing almost exclusively a 4A/5A schedule despite most of those schools being 1.5-2x their size. They had New Pal in a dogfight for a half (they were down 14-10 before NP drilled a 47-yard field goal at the halftime gun), beat Greenfield-Central and led Mt. Vernon at halftime before running out of gas.

Delta looks like a team that's a year away but has a lot of talent and a very aggressive, sound, physical defense with some playmakers. Manor is a real stud at MLB/WR and I really like their WR Edwards.

Their matchup this Friday should be very good - Yorktown won 35-21 in the regular season but rivalry games are always wild cards.

I expected Yorktown to roll through first two rounds but they seem to have struggled last two weeks?  22-13 over Garrett?

Just some thoughts on what I think are the more interesting games this week:

    - I'm taking Carroll by 14 over Penn. A good season for the Kingsmen and a step in the right direction in terms of reestablishing themselves, but I've maintained since midway through the season that I think Carroll is the best team outside of the Donut this year and that hasn't changed. I think they prove it in this game.

    - I think Norwell vs Concordia might be more interesting than expected. Wayne just took Columbia City to the limits last week and I can't get that out of my head. Was it an off night for CC or is the SAC just that much better than the NE8? If Norwell doesn't run away with this one we'll have our answer.

    - I think Luers is massively underrated at this point. Just a general statement really. I think they'll be playing in the semistate.

Wayne hung half a hundred on Homestead so I wasn’t that surprised by the CC score.  I don’t think Concordia will be able to put many points on the board tonight.  We’ll see what Norwell Offense can do.

Carroll at Penn - Carroll squeaks this one out by 7.

Fishers at Northrop - Ugly season comes to an end for Northrop

Homestead at Hamilton Southeastern - HSE by as much as they want.

Anderson at North Side - Northside gets the running clock in the 2nd half.

Snider at Dwenger - Snider takes this, but Dwenger at least gets on the board.

Leo at East Noble - If the same EN team shows up from last week and can eliminate the mistakes from the first matchup they take this one by 14.

Dekalb at Columbia City - Dekalb managed to beat a much more athletic New Haven team last week, wouldn't mind seeing them pull this one off, but I think CC is just too far ahead of Dekalb.

Mississinewa at Huntington North - HN got a nice win last week, Ole Miss takes care of business.

Norwell at Concordia - Norwell by 21, Cadets keep it close for a half.

Garrett at Yorktown - Yorktown by 35.

Luers at Churubusco - Luers better not look past Busco or they could be sitting at home for the sectional champtionship.

Eastside at Manchester - Ugly game.

Bluffton at Tipton - Don't have a dog in this fight at all.

South Adams at Adams Central - AC continues what should be a run to the state finals.

I’ll take Leo and Tipton.  Long drive for the tiggers tonight is the difference.

I agree.  I think this is one of those years where they are truly a top 3A team.

people always want to say they are a 4A team because of their tradition….this year it feels like they belong in 3A.  They have some dogfights ahead of them I think

they easily could still end up in LoS on Black Friday but I think there are 3-5 3A teams who are not scared of them at all.  If anything…I think a few 3A teams want the opportunity to beat Chatard when usually 3A teams are trying to get them back to 4A or avoid them in the tournament

Depending on sectional draw Chatard could possibly play Oak Hill, Tipp Valley, Norwell and West Lafayette on their way to LOS.  Will be some good games along the way.

  9. 25 of the last 35 state champions in 3A have been private.  The playing field is not level in 3A and it’s not changing so…..

    private - own it

    public - quit bitching

MOVING ON.   Watched the first half of  Guerin / Chatard.  Lots of mistakes by Trojans and lots of big plays by Guerin.  Guerin starting QB was out.  Chatard is beatable by a good 3a team.  Am not convinced (yet) chatard will come out of the North.

  10. Was this a case of Chatard overlooking Guerin… Guerin gets off to a fast start… Chatard wakes up and plays ball but let’s the foot off the gas?  Or are these 2 legitimately, evenly matched?  I Expected a Chatard beat down. Curious as to how the sectional plays out.  Both Oak Hill and Tipp Valley will come into this sectional undefeated although neither have really played much of a schedule compared to these 2.

Perhaps Tippy Valley can give Chatard or Guerin a run at it this year since they are shipped all the way down to WL old sectional which the Catholic/Jesuit trio of Chatard, Brebuef and Guerin have been the cause for no sectionals for RDP since 2018, as they cruise back up north to the 219 for post season play they should find comfort of no Andrean or other catholic powerhouse in that sectional.   Hanover Central off to another great start, very good players they have under Coach Parker also should be thought of highly in Sectional 25.

    beat me to it

With Marian down this year WL takes  their yearly bye to the Semi state.

  12. Norwell will be favored throughout but I expect the EN game will be the test.  Long bus ride didn’t serve EN well last year.  Norwell heads north this year.  Norwell runs for over 250 this week against the dogs but can’t keep POTY Graham out the end zone.  38-14 Norwell

(like every year) early season schedule has Columbia City rolling.  This week no different in win over Barons.  56-28.  Last game of the year V Norwell will not be for NE8 title but will be a good gauge for Norwell as to how good sectional 27 foes Delta and Yorktown really are.  (Delta beats CC and gets beat by Yorktown).

GOTW will be tight.  Home field is worth 2 pts but not enough offense for the Lions.  EN 24-22

HN rolls 47-7 over Belmont. Tough to rebuild a program.
