Just saying…if the injury happened “a few weeks ago” you can’t break out that card only when it’s convenient.

If I’m not mistaken, the injury occurred last week at semi-state. The Andrean announce team seemed pretty concerned and it was a lower leg injury. Kudos to Bowen for playing through it! He’s a tough tough kid. Congrats to MD! Well deserved!

Com On Man!.... u all member whats it like to hav a super star in 2A FB.... n now u know the rest of the story... 😊

Not arguing that at all and not blaming anyone or saying it’s “unfair” or anything of the sort. I was simply explaining why my previous post stated the Knights were “a lowly 2A team” when talking about Carroll. I came away from this more impressed with Andrean than anything. They absolutely imposed the will of Bowen on Luers. Special player ND is getting!

LOWLY?  Luers was the REAL Deal also!

I'd never think of the Knights as less than anyone in 2A.    Numbers/Numbers/Numbers...  be serious about what BLHS brings to the table.

I am. My post was partly satire as most people see the Knights as just that but it partly wasn’t because they allowed 1 single player to beat them tonight. They knew coming in that that was Andreans only shot and still just got housed….as much as I would love to be optimistic, performances like that give me pause. On to next season Knights! Take this loss and use it as fuel for Championship run!

  4. Well, the 2A finals are set. Mater Dei vs Andrean round 2. Congrats to both schools! Congrats to all teams on great seasons and making it to semi state!

I said that they were the REAL DEAL after Week One...

That they are and good call! Although, beating a lowly 2A school 42-3 in week 1 doesn’t exactly give you the “they’re for real” vibes. Either way, congrats to the Chargers!! Huge victory for FW football.

I have been Lurking for a long time and I thought I would post that little saying from years ago.  I the old days the wall outside my classroom would have bee filled with this thread.  Here is to a great game.  I do miss being in the stands, but I will be glued to the computer screen.

Here’s to hoping these current Knights can get a big W tonight! Oh how I miss the bulletin board material! Hope you’re well Lurker!!

I assume the 7-on-7 scene is split between many organizations and tournaments so determining the best isn't the easiest?

Yea I did a little research on it and it’s much different than my playing days. Now, it’s set up like AAU Basketball. They have they Nike circuit and the Addidas circuit. A bunch of tourneys all late spring and summer.

I thought Gibson Southern was the 7-on-7 Indiana Champions of the Universe? @Titan32

Also, aren't there some next level 7-on-7 teams based in Hamilton/Marion counties?

I’m sure there are some teams down in the Indy area that are pretty darn good. I should have been more clear and said “one of the best” but I feel as a whole NE Indiana puts out better skill position players than any other corner of the state. That’s just my opinion.

It, as many 260 folks know, is the factor of them playing above class ++ for every game that helps them this time of the year. Andrean plays above class as well all games so will be close. I'll take Luers by 6

Luers has never really gotten much respect from the locals, at least outside of their program. Fort Wayne is and has always been a Snider/Dwenger town. Every other school is kind of an afterthought when compared to those 2. Now that said, these 2 teams are very evenly matched. Both have good athletes and  are playing physical football. Both are very well coached teams with a lot of tradition in the tourney. Give me Luers 31-27 in a slugfest!

I gotta say, Luers is not getting much respect round these parts. Almost every year, they are around a .500 team and almost every year they seem to be making a state title run. There is nothing that Andrean is going to do that they haven’t already seen this year. They have played much better teams with more athletes and speed. I think this will be a very good game that goes down to the wire, Luers 24 - Andrean 21

Care to elaborate?? I’m honestly curious as I haven’t seen or heard any slight towards the Knights, at least on this board.

Perhaps "next year" when the SAC becomes an open conference Sagarin may give a better picture....

But @temptationis ON POINT with the SAC as it exists now: (a) Closed Conference!

Same could be said for the SIAC. The SAC is basically 2 conferences in 1 now a days. A 5 team “power” conference and then the 5 other schools. Closed conference or not, I don’t see that changing.

Back to the game in question. I think if Luers has any shot in this one, you load up the box to stop Bowen and force the 59ers to stretch the field. Offensively, push the ball up the sideline with Thompson setting up your run game. For the 59ers it’s pretty simple on both sides of the ball, they go as 34 goes.

Because it doesn't affect Dwenger as much as it does Snider, Homestead, and Carroll. Dwenger will drop back down to 4a and get their state title.

If I’m either one of the Catholic schools in the SAC I tell the IHSAA we volunteer to stay in 5A or 6A. I wonder if there is such a thing as a volunteer bump up? 🤷🏻‍♂️

No offers that I know of for this young man. What am I missing here? He's big, quick on his feet, and runs over and through defenders. He lacks the break away speed, but he's a powerful runner and seems to break a lot of tackles. If a D1 school doesn't pick him up, Indiana State, St. Francis, or a Marian type program will end up with a gem.

That’s insane to me. Best pure running back in the area IMO. Honestly, there’s a lot of talent here in the Fort Wayne area with little to no offers 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Soooo

6A columbus north who won Conference Indiana and only ran into center grove

5A New Albany who won Hoosier Hills conference and made it to Semi state before losing to cathedral

Kentucky 5A #2 South Warren who is in the Kentucky semi states currently

    Heritage Hills….twice

    Southridge….

Opponent records of 86-55….or 86-42 if you take out the losses they received to GS

ya know what.  I hope it does show because hats off to the coaches & administrators for making this schedule what it is.  We played a damn good schedule and faced numerous great teams.

It’s come a long way from facing mostly 2A schools a few years ago to what it is now…which is a schedule that is on par or better than with most of what 5A is

Columbus North is a solid win no question. It’s never easy to beat a 6A team as a smaller school. New Albany had a tremendous run this year but going into the year was New Albany considered a team to watch in 5A?? No. Kentucky Warren. Great pickup on the schedule. Love that GS picked up an out of state juggernaut. Heritage Hills is another solid 3A program and Southridge a solid 2A program. Agreed also that the schedule is much better than it had been in years past. Kudos to GS for that. I just feel that Brebeuf plays better teams is all. I truly believe this will be the best game of the weekend, I just think SOS plays a part, albeit small.

    1A - Lutheran

    2A - Mater Dei

    3A - Gibson Southern

    4A - Mt. Vernon Fortville

    5A - Cathedral

    6A - Center Grove

I have the "Southern Slam", with a side of fingers crossed and possibly some humble pie...😎

1A: Adams Central: IF AC can control the line of scrimmage and churn out long scoring drives, I like their chances.

2A: To me this is a coin flip. These teams are very similar in what they do and how the program is run. Mater Dei is probably pumped they don’t have to run into Luers at state again to ruin their fun! I’ll take MD by 3.

3A: Brebeuf Jesuit: Another good matchup, I just think the level of competition that GS plays in the regular season shows here. Still a close game but Brebeuf takes it.

4A: Mt. Vernon: Any team that can take it to Roncalli and that mammoth offensive line is pretty darn good 👍🏼 Northridge has been impressive but the run ends here.

5A: Cathedral: I think these last 2 games are easier to call. Zionsville will make it a better game than last year but still not enough.

6A: Center Grove: See above ⬆️: Although LN did make CG look human a few weeks back 👀 it’s still CG by 2-3 scores.

Good Luck and God Bless to all players and coaches this weekend!!
