Is there going to be JV opportunities at your event?  Just trying to gauge our transportation needs.

That's what I thought.  Just checking.  We are looking forward to it.  Would still apprecitate a break down of the day and a set of rules, if possible.

1A Season Progress

That video on the Deaf School is awesome! We played them a few years back and I have never seen such dedicated coaches and players in my life. Andy Alka is a great man.
6. Northeastern vs. Union City
7. Will these be available at the North-South Game?
8. Sounds like, in the North, the teams to watch are the usual suspects. Tri-Central, Winamac, Sheridan, and Pioneer? How about the South? Linton? South Putnam? Eastern Hancock? I know that Northeastern only lost 4 seniors and returns most of an offense that rushed for nearly 5,000 yards, including an All-State QB/FS (Joey Claypoole) and FB/LB (Kelsy Kirkland). They went 9-3 this past season and could make some noise in Sectional 45 and beyond. Interested in other opinions.
9. Northeastern's Joey Claypoole (SR) QB and Kelsy Kirkland (SR) FB

2014 1A Outlook

Northeastern returns the core of it's 9-3 team in 2014. This includes 2 all-state in the backfield. The Knights gave Eastern Hancock a very good game in the Sectional Championship in 2013.

2014 1A Outlook

One OLineman graduated. They also lost a DT, DE and OLB . Everyone else is back. BTW #51 was forced to play corner due to injury. (and he did an admirable job!)
12. Does anyone have any insight as to when we can expect these teams to be released? Seems like AP usually has been released around Thanksgiving.

2A North Sectionals(prediction)

How about Knightstown? WHere will they fit in?
15. Last time they released class information (2 years ago for football) it was around Dec. 21. Just curious.

Hagerstown @ 'Busco

Well coached, hard nosed team. Would prefer to run.....but can pass when needed. Thompson is one of the quickest backs we saw all year. Patton is more of an inside runner, but not slow. Churubusco will have it's hands full.

Wheeler out at Edinburgh

I have led my team against Edinburgh off and on for the past 10 years (7 times). Average score 50.4 to 11.0. I have seen coaches come and go. I have seen offensive and defensive schemes come and go. However, I must defend Kyle Wheeler. For the first time in all those years, there was a system in place. This continuity was beginning to pay-off. The biggest challenge Kyle had to face was between the ears of his players. The culture of losing is a tough thing to conquer. I know. I have been there and continue to fight it. This whole thing was wrong. Good luck to Kyle Wheeler in whatever he does in the future. Mike Roeder, Head Coach Northeastern HS

Son at QB

The only way this works out at the varsity level.....is if your son is a capable athlete. If he isn't.....get ready for trouble! I coached my son for four years at QB as varsity head coach. We won the majority of our games and he was above average. Still, there were moments. Some people will always think that the only reason he is playing is because he is your son. Beware of the dumb.
19. Has there ever been discussion amongst the powers that be in Indianapolis of adding a second scrimmage? I have coaching friends in West Virginia who believe this prepares them for the regular season much better than our one scrimmage format. Of course, not everyone in that state makes it into the playoffs. I'm pretty sure Ohio does this too. Why not let us begin team practices one week earlier and schedule another scrimmage. Think of how much better your evaluation of talent would be. Think of how much better your execution would be in week one. I know there will be the nay-sayers out there who will worry about injuries, etc... Just a thought.
20. Eastern Hancock(1A) Rumored to have been invited. Good fit?

22.
Won't some of the schools have to be added who will be joining varsity competition in 2010? For example, Monroe Central? Just curious. It would make sense. There would have to be a bye game in 2009 in the sectional they belong to.
My question was simple. Would the IHSAA assign teams to sectionalsin 2009 knowing that they would not start competing until 2010....or wait until 2010 season and add them then? They already know who these teams are (ex. Monroe Central).
