  1. That's up to them. Just telling you what I know. I imagine they'll be trying to figure that stuff out during their pilot run. Games will more than likely be on Saturday's as to avoid overbooking officials.
  2. The pilot program for 8-man football in Indiana football begins in 2022. Plenty of schools interested. Only available to schools that do not currently have 11 man. It's coming my man.
  3. From 2008 to 2019 Tri High school had 1 winning season including 4 (0-10) seasons. If they would have just given up and cut the program they never would have made the semi-state run they just made. And I can tell you that those kids during that decade would say that football enriched their high school experiences regardless of the record. But since Tri isn't in Indianapolis or the region they don't exist in (the artist formerly known as) DT's mind so they must contract. This whole contraction crap gets old. If the money spent on football was really hurting these systems, they would cut them.
  4. In the press release the remaining 6 claim Carmel and CG are "culturally re-aligning" but isn't that exactly what they did with this move? Not saying the move was wrong or anything, just find it ironic that they did exactly what they accused the other 2 of doing. We live in strange times.
  5. It's cool on Friday nights when people can share scores and updates. But it's kind of annoying to see random posts throughout the week from someone replying and blowing off about something with no context as to what in the heck they're talking about. Plus in the past I know there's been some very profane or explicit posts that have been autoshared from a reply. Idk, I feel like a lot of the GID faithful just post it here anyway.
  6. It's apparent Tri's defense isn't going to be able to stop Lutheran, but their offense is making this game uncomfortable for them. Shortening the game for sure.
  7. Tri's first drive 16 plays 75 yards, 9.5 minutes off the clock. Tri's second drive 1 play a slot counter for 88 yards. haha wow
  8. As a player: My sophomore year of high school at Muncie Central we were playing Delta in the sectional championship, which happened 5 years in a row back then. I was a very average JV player that didn't play a lot of varsity yet, but I was our backup long snapper. As luck would have it our long snapper got hurt and I was inserted into a very tight ballgame to snap on the punt team. The temperature had dropped into the single digits, and I couldn't feel my hands, much less the rock hard football. My heart was pounding a million miles an hour and I was noticeably nervous. A senior on that team who happened to be my "big brother" ( a mentorship program we had at the time) patted me on the butt and told me "you got this." Much to my surprise I delivered not one, but 3 perfect snaps in that game. We lost that game in 3OT's (the only one of the 5 we lost) but I can't remember ever feeling more part of a team than in that moment. As a coach: 2017 was a heck of a year for our Monroe Central team. It was our 6th year as a staff here and we were starting to see some success. We found ourselves in a regional championship game against a dominating Southwood team that had run through the north racking up the number 1 passing offense in the state. Long story short, on a freezing, damp November night we threw a TD pass with 12 seconds left on 4th down to take our first lead of the night, and ultimately win the game. It was a heavyweight slugfest of a football game that no one around here will soon forget. A picture of the game winning catch hangs in our locker room from the night. An awesome experience I'll never forget.
  9. I've never in 12 years coaching or when I played seen any of these rules enforced lol. Not upset about it or anything, I just find it funny they lay these rules out. Maybe they should just call them "suggestions". I'd actually love to see a live animal mascot trot out before a game.
  10. I don't see AC having a lot of issues advancing unless they turn the ball over. The 2 games they struggled the most in this year (Eastside & Busco) they had some untimely turnovers that took scores off the board. They're built for this tournament run. SA will be tough after getting 7 back, and that rivalry is real. It'll be interesting watching that game next week if that field is still a bowl of quicksand. AC looks good though.
  11. Max Preps is pretty much the only way outside of a team website. Some teams don't use max preps so their stats aren't readily available. I've known of some schools that don't even keep stats at all for whatever reason.
  12. you gonna pop over there and get a pork burger next Friday?
  13. There isn't a bunch of 1A talk on here like there used to be. @foxbat is on the up and up and @Basementbias is king of Adams county in these parts. Should be an exciting postseason with a lot of good football. Hopefully the dreaded virus doesn't pop up and affect anything.
  14. I have a somewhat related question. Has anyone had issues with the footballs being flat coming out of the package? What I mean is we"ll take the ball out of the package, make sure its properly inflated (never over inflated) and then the next day it's flat again and wont hold air. If we get 10 brand new footballs 2 or 3 won't stay inflated. It's happened more over the past 2 years and I'm wondering if it's a issue anyone else has run into?
  15. Drove past it when they were building it. It looks great! Why did they move the location to begin with? It's a little odd it wasn't by the high school.
  16. I clicked on this thread looking for the same thing haha
  17. I can tell you that having an experienced coach in the box is invaluable. Hudl sideline is a luxury not all can afford, and in some instances it's not needed. Being able to see the game live, and in real time, and then providing instant feedback is huge. Speaking from my own experience I'd rather ask a question and get an answer. Another thing to consider is coaches don't always have time to look down at an ipad in the middle of a game. It's a freaking sweet tool though.
  18. Hi Rudy! During quarantine I had actually been working on putting together a database of the football fields and stadiums(past/present) of all the high schools (present and defunct) here in Indiana. Real life eventually came back and I don't have the time to do such a thing anymore. I think it would be cool to find pictures and histories of these places, especially the ones that are gone, and add it to your info. Just a suggestion. Thank you for doing what you do for the history and records of our sport.
  19. For me, there isn't much more of a unique scene than playing a slugfest at South Adams and looking over and seeing horse and buggies go by all night lol. It's pretty cool.
  20. Speaking specifically on football.....It was either the spring of 2016 or 2017 (I can't remember) Coach Mike Johnson came down and did a mini clinic for our region. He had moved on to Logansport but he used clips from his athletes at Pioneer. It was excellent. He was very nice, and he answered every question with no hesitance to who might be listening. It was evident that the athletic culture at Pioneer was BOOMING. Fast forward to the fall of '17 we met Pioneer in the semi state game....One of the best teams we put on the field in our time at MC got handled. We had a definite size advantage and even took an early lead before the dam broke. To this day our staff frequently talks about HOW FREAKING HARD that team played, and still use it as a measuring stick. The WHOLE team played so dang hard and fast all night...it was overwhelming. And to top it all off, they were genuinely good kids. Kind between plays, sportsmanlike and tough between the whistles. SO, whats the point?.......Culture keeps you relevant even in years you may not be as talented. Athlete development is part of culture. Years and years of excellence and doing things the right way all ties back to culture. Add a cycle of a great athletic classes and you get what they have. Pioneer has 25 straight winning football seasons....and as long as they fight to maintain that culture, I don't think they'll really ever have a bad year.
  21. I'm not keen on details, and I'm not entirely sure the logistics of things. All the relevant information I know is it's not a football conference anymore.
  22. North Decatur was in a football only conference that dissolved. I think the scenarios are very different.
