    interested

    I'll preface this by saying I'm not an expert on all 12 teams (who is?) and my thoughts are mostly based on last season and program history.

    Thinking TW should be on the 2nd line and not the 3rd.

    Danville and Marian both coming off of subpar seasons but I'd be surprised if one or both don't bounce back to be a top ten team this season as they have been over the past decade.

    A few teams on this list will benefit from playing weaker schedule and probably end up with good records and a decent ranking by the end of the season but I don't think they'll be as strong as some other teams that will play better competition and not end up ranked in the top ten.

    School boundaries are already set and are not changed by annexation.  If the area is part of the WeBo school district and is annexed by Lebanon, the school districts would have to agree on the boundaries being changed.  I believe in Indiana school boundaries are determined by township lines.  Those are not affected by annexation.

    For an example, look at Noblesville and the number of Noblesville residents who attend HSE Schools.

    Found a good township map at the link below.  I think it aligns with school districts as follows:

    Western Boone = Clinton, Washington, Sugar Creek, Jefferson, Jackson, Harrison

    Lebanon = Center, Worth, Perry

    Zionsville = Union, Eagle

    Sheridan = Marion

    Lilly is developing north of Lebanon in Center township between 65 and 39 I think.  Almost all Webo territory directly north.

  3. I don't know that the specific location of the Lilly development should matter too much.  People could easily live anywhere in Boone County and work there.

    The Western Boone school district encompasses the most land area in Boone County if I'm not mistaken.  From what I read, you won't be able to drive north of where Lilly is developing more than a mile or two before you get into the district.  The school name is a bit of a misnomer.  It does encompass all of the western side of Boone County but it also covers almost the entire northern 1/3 of the County all the way over until you run into Sheridan district.

    My guess is that there will be decent growth in the Webo district as a result of this.  Perhaps not as much as in Lebanon, but significant.  Certainly enough that I think their 2A days may be permanently in their past.

  4. This is interesting.  I think Western Boone was the school that could probably go with either side of this split and it makes me wonder what Lebanon, Danville, and Tri-West have planned that make this the more appealing option.

    I know this is more than a football decision, but from that perspective Western Boone is moving away from the 3 teams that compete with them in conference and going with the 4 teams they always beat.  10-9 against Tri-West, Danville, and Lebanon over the past 6 seasons.  27-0 in that same stretch against North Montgomery, Southmont, Crawfordsville, and Frankfort.  Always felt like playing those tougher games helped prepare them for the tournament success they've had recently.

    Not sure who they might eye as the 6th team in the conference but hopefully it's a school with a good football program.

  5. If we're playing Mr. Potato-head with these conferences, here's how I'd align them today if there were no existing conferences to deal with.

    Penn, Elkhart, Mishawaka, Warsaw, Carroll, Homestead, Snider, Concord

    Jimtown, Northwood, Northridge, Plymouth, John Glenn, Goshen, Wawasee, Bremen

    Riley, Washington, Adams, Marian, St. Joe, New Prairie, Clay(until they're closed)

    This would house all the NIC and NLC teams in a better arrangement than they're currently in with probably the exceptions of Marian and St. Joe.  Also I'm not sure if this is better for Carroll and Homestead than the Summit but it does cut down the Summit to a more manageable 8 teams.

    Anyway you slice it, it looks like trying to solve the Penn/NIC problem creates more problems elsewhere.  Probably the best solution is just to let them go independent.

    They want 2 more teams, if not they will run with 6. From my sources it is done, just not announced. If this is false, I will fall on the sword and take the tar and feathering.

    This makes all kinds of sense, at least from the 3 leaving the NIC.  Less familiar with the situations of the other 3.

    Not surprised.  As Lebanon, Danville, and Tri-West become more and more part of the Indianapolis area/donut county urban sprawl they become less and less rural, and their enrollments will soon grow to dwarf those of the other Sagamore conference schools.

    If this comes to pass where does that leave Frankfort and Western Boone?  IMHO it opens the logical door for the Hot Dogs to petition for membership into the Hoosier Heartland conference.  As for Western Boone I really don't care what happens to them.................

    Someone has to care about Frankfort.

  8. They need to do like Elkhart and consolidate.  Really more for efficiency than sports but sports would benefit as well.  Right now it is a mess and football is literally not a concern to almost anyone sending their kids there.  If a family in South Bend has a kid competing at a high level in football, they will most likely end up at St. Joe, Marian, Mishawaka, or Penn.

  9. Glad to see Oak Hill win that game after what happened after the two played last season.

    We will see how things play out but it would seem likely to me that Oak Hill runs the table in the CIC now and enters the postseason undefeated.  Not sure who left on their schedule might be able to beat them as the traditional CIC powers haven't been too impressive so far.

    The other coaches. See also: Wrestling

    I haven't a clue how wrestling works.  I'm just playing it out through the lens of a football coach who has stake in how things could be seeded and how that could influence their seeding.

    I'm not for seeding at all, but if they did go to that why not just used something like Sagarin or another computer ranking system.  It could be flawed or have certain holes in it but those can always be tweaked to get to where you want.  When you start allowing humans and bias into the process you can expect trouble.

    THANK YOU!!!!

    If 8-9 Wrestling coaches can seed 14 different weight classes in a 1 evening.

    Then, 8 coaches can seed a single sectional in about 20 minutes. Don't even have to be present. Each coach ranks the Section 1-7 (doesn't include his own). Emails it to Sectional Host. The host compiles them, and send it back to the coaches. Even make how each school ranked known to the other head coaches.

    What stops the coach from the 2nd best team in the sectional ranking the best team last?  Or the coach of the worst team from ranking the best team last to try to avoid a beatdown in the opening round?  Lots of games can be played with that method.  Not to mention that the playoffs are meant to determine who the best team is.  Not to cater to pre-determined notions.  If we've already determined the best team, let's just skip the playoffs.

    There are plenty of folks out there that have huge loyalty to teams and you'd be hard pressed to get them to break away their first round game to travel to another game, big ticket or not. Impossible if they actually have a kid or family member on their team playing that night. Now, if their own team gets knocked out first or second round, that fan would be much more inclined to roll a county or two over to watch the two heavyweights duke it out since their own team is done. And I'd venture they would be a little, or even much, less inclined to make that trek if it ends up being a game that will likely end up lopsided since one of the only two real contenders has been knocked out first round.

    I'd be more inclined to agree with this 10 years ago but I think now that people can stay home any given Friday night and watch almost any tournament game online I think there are far fewer fans that head out to a specific game when they don't have direct ties to a team.  Not saying that there are none.  Just I don't think there are many.  Particularly when the weather is bad, I've taken advantage of YouTube or whatever a time or two over the past few years.  In later rounds when there might be multiple games of interest, it's a win-win.  And you can also switch to a competitive game if the game you thought would be a good one is a blowout.  If you go, you don't get to switch if the game is not competitive.

    If they want to increase paid attendance, they need to stop broadcasting the games.  That's a far bigger issue than the handful of fans that, if the stars align right, may attend a championship game that they would not attend in the first round for whatever reason.

    the idea of seeding since there was a chance to make more money at the sectional level which went directly to the schools in each sectional.

    Don't really understand how seeding would result in more money.  Two top ten teams squaring off are going to fill the stands whether it is in the first week of the sectional or last week.  If there is any difference, I don't think it would be much at all in most circumstances.  Particularly now that most sectional championship games are broadcast online.  If they REALLY want to increase paid attendance, they should quit broadcasting the games.
