  1. George McGinnis passed this morning....I loved those ABA Pacers teams, and George was a great one. So many great memories, and I have no doubt those teams could have competed well against the NBA teams. RIP George This was written before he passed and is a great story. https://www.nba.com/pacers/news/his-best-george-mcginnis-was-best?fbclid=IwAR2HaausRgEWauA-r59Jln2wi9vMBS0ImIklI1Vx3R61KwPtrahqznTecQ4
  2. MNF was one of the ugliest and sloppiest games I can remember seeing in a long time. Packers sucked in all 3 phases. This is the team that got them into the 2-5 hole, not the one that won 4 straight. They failed in all 3 phases of the game. Throw in some poorly timed and stupid penalties; it was a bad combo. MLF is right back on my shit list for this one. Pass route concepts make little sense. Defensive failures were brutal. DeVondre Campbell covering a slot receiver on an out and up route? WTF? So frustrating to watch.
  3. Go Navy beat Army!!!
  4. hmmmm. Seems that was brought up before. 🙂 And when I read the article, that was my first thought as well.
  5. Heisman finalists announced...Hard to argue with the list. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/heisman-trophy-finalists-2023-jayden-daniels-michael-penix-jr-bo-nix-marvin-harrison-jr-head-to-new-york/#:~:text=College Football Rankings-,Heisman Trophy finalists 2023%3A Jayden Daniels%2C Michael Penix Jr.,Jr. head to New York&text=Watch Now%3A,college football's most outstanding talents.
  6. Something to consider in support of Florida State Ohio State won the Big Ten Championship game in 2014 with a 3rd string QB; beating Wisconsin. Ohio State was selected to the inaugural playoff even though they started Cardale Jones. They went on to win the Championship with Jones as the QB.
  7. Right? Think about next year when the bowls have to start with the 13th ranked team as the best option available.
  8. Without following the logic, I will say I think Texas is the best team of the 4 in the playoff. And I also do think they are better than Georgia.
  9. What was looking like a season of a struggling young team now has the Pack thinking playoffs. The last two weeks have been impressive. Jordan Love looked the best I have seen him all season. He took some air out from under his throws and there were a few that were lasers. Early on it just looked like he was trying to finesses everything in to his receivers. There are still times where LaFleur gets too pass happy though, and they let KC back in the game in the 2nd half. He has to stick to the run game. That sets up the play action game, and he really put the KC defense in a bind. But once you start throwing every down, they are able to make plays and get stops. All that said, no one is close to the level the 9ers are on. They are getting healthy at the right time. While the AFC looks wide open, they are running away with the NFC.
  10. That HAD to be one of the most unusual games I have ever seen. Huge win for the Colts
  11. Old Irish fans saying FINALLY someone leap frogs Florida State..........30 years later. 😄
  12. yep...he was given the pa mic after he was introduced at the IU Maryland BBall game last night. Not really a fan of it, but still not as bad as Brian Kelly's fake Southern accent 😄
  13. Watching the Big 12 Championship. I have seen Texas play twice this year, this game and the Alabama game. Blake Ewers is REALLY good. Going back to an old topic, I used to talk about Ian Book and how he waited until guys were open to make his throws and that he never seemed to throw guys open.....for their 4th TD, the pass Ewers throws is pretty cool to see. They showed the replay of him releasing the ball before the WR was out of his break; the pass hits him in stride. It really is impressive to see. And then he throws a pick...a really bad one too. 🤣
  14. That said, I do think a couple exceptions are pretty obvious for the IHSAA to consider. 1. kids over the IHSAA age limit. Legally, kids with IEP’s can remain in high school until the age of 22. The IEP actually extends to the age of 26. 2. The physically incapable kids are easy to track. The mentally incapable ones may be a bit more difficult as I am sure there are some HIPAA laws that factor in there. But I would like to see high school leaders start the conversation with the leadership in the IHSAA.
  15. Well stated. My thoughts exactly, but more than likely, you stated them much better than I likely would have.
  16. The point to my post really is about who actually is available in each building. With the lack of students in the areas I mentioned, the reality is that non public schools have a number available/able to participate that is more on par with schools that are a class or two above where their enrollment places them in the current system. And there are too many people who simply refuse to consider that, or they just discount the impact of differences in population.
  17. But do non public schools have special needs students? It isn't only about kids with other interests. It's about the kids who are not able to participate because of various disabilities. There is also the population that is interested in nothing. Our building in particular has over 200 ELL kids, and more than 12% of our students are non diploma track kids. Yet we are in 4A.........implying that just based on numbers, we are identical to Bishop Dwenger. Want to know what the numbers above look like in their building? About 1% and all of their kids are diploma track kids. Others? and the ELL kids that Catholic Charities helped bring here as refugees? Non existent.
  18. Woodlan HS Head Coach position is open Please submit a letter of interest or a resume for each position to jobs@eacs.k12.in.us by no later than 4:00 p.m. on December 4, 2023, to receive consideration for this position.
  19. The poster is his dad. I found out he was on staff when Allen was the DC at IU. They came to Homestead HS for a 1 day camp. Pat and Mark Hagen were the D Line coaches. I have some not so good memories coaching against those Roncalli teams he was on.
  20. I am looking forward to the playoff as well. The talk in the pregame shows about the Michigan osu game was that the game will have less meaning, but I don’t think it will. I think teams will still fight for a higher seed, especially the first 4 since they get a bye. The biggest change besides the playoff will be bowl games. I guess they can tag some of the playoff games with those bowl names, but I don’t think they should be neutral site games. Potential problem with neutral sites. Say osu is a 5 seed playing a 12 seeded LSU. But the Superdome/Sugar Bowl already had been guaranteed the 5/12 matchup, it could hardly be called a neutral site. I am ok with the championship game being a neutral site though, but all others should be home games for the higher seeds. Another potential problem conferences need to consider is whether to continue the conference championship games. A team may reach that game but only been ranked around 10th in the CFP Poll. Losing the conference championship game could cost them a spot in the playoff while someone else in the same conference could miss playing for the conference championship but make the playoff. I know this one is an extreme thing, but it’s definitely not an impossible scenario…..Michigan and osu go into the last regular season game tied for first in the conference. The loser could still finish in 2nd place, setting up a rematch the following week in the conference championship game. Add to it, based on seeding, they could see each other again in the playoff. Crazy, huh? 🤔
  21. I admit I googled if offseason was one word. 🤣 For many of us as fans, the offseason is now here, so might as well start a topic, right? This will be an offseason unlike any one prior. The whole landscape of the college game is changing drastically now. It's been mentioned before, the NCAA has done nothing with regard to the transfer portal. To me this is a problem; reaching out to kids who are not in the portal. https://www.barstoolsports.com/blog/3494966/washington-state-qb-cam-ward-reportedly-has-up-to-10-seven-figure-offers-to-transfer?fbclid=IwAR2yYDdsNHU8_WwRQQW7K72Cx2FRLudeuobnOyJ4OptEdLXOiirk_feNiDI One simple fix....scholarships go back to what they were; multi year commitments. Might as well just call them contracts now. The NCAA, if they survive this, could even allow a rookie contract, so a player could decide whether to stay or not after year one on campus. Then programs can get them to sign 1, 2, or even 3 year contracts, with 4th and 5th year options if there is a red shirt or injury year,
  22. Just learned during the game yesterday that Dickert is from the same small town my grandparents moved to when they moved back to Wisconsin from Lemont, IL. We spent a lot of Summers as kids in Oconto, WI. I like Dickert too. Lord knows what happens with them next season as far as a conference goes. Two other names come to my mind….Mike Hart is one. He has been in the program at IU as a coach, so he has some idea of what needs to happen. Brian Hartline is the other. Both know what it takes to run a top 5 program. I would add there is one to avoid….Tommy Rees. Just never thought a lot of him as an OC, a job he would likely maintain if he were a head coach somewhere. And I am sure he is going to be actively looking. IU also needs to fire the asshat who included the huge buyout as part of the contract extension Allen got after the 2020 season.
