  1. Ben Davis 17, Cathedral 10 9:21 to play in the 3rd. Cathedral goes for and recovers an onside kick. Missed FG for the Giants early...now a converted onside kick for the Irish. Center Grove up 14-0 with 4:02 to play in the 3rd over Warren.
  2. Center Grove 7, Warren 0 10:00 3rd See, I got called a "huge homer" here this week. I call it fair.
  3. HSE up 14-10 on Westfield at the half per the X machine
  4. Halftime-Ben Davis 17, Cathedral 7 Huge score by the Giants before the half. Tommy Gotkowski tossed it up for grabs in the end zone from 13 yards out, and Nate Williams caught it in traffic. Giants also got a break on a 4th down conversion during the drive. Irish ball to start the second half. They could host the Semi-State with a W
  5. Ben Davis 17, Cathedral 7 (:36 2nd qtr) Cathedral ball to start the 2nd Half
  6. Warren/Ben Davis is always going to be close. That's a rivalry game. BD came off the loss to IMG that week and didn't get fully reengaged per Coach Mann. He said they really learned from that situation. I can't fully explain why the Giants had trouble with the Bears. It was their senior night, and LC seems to know how to play the Giants (up 28-0 in 2022 before losing 29-28). The Giants did not have Nylan Brown that night and were missing a couple of receivers. Gotkowski got hurt as well during the game, but the Giants, for some reason, could get into the red zone but couldn't make 3's turn into 7's. It was a weird game. Like they have most of the year, BD performed well in the clutch though and LC scored a TD right before the end of the game to make it 26-23. Outside of the IMG game (where they also had opportunities against a really good opponent), that was probably the worst performance of the year.
  7. That was a very surprising game. I think everything snowballed on LN quickly. Never expected the Giants to be up 55-14 at the half. Ben Davis stopped themselves a lot in that game with drops. Finally, Gotkowski and MZ IV just put the game on their backs and legs and took over where they could. Nylan Brown, Drew Evans and the D stopped Sherrell a lot except for the big plays.
  8. They do. Tommy doesn't get enough credit for how good he's been this year. Wherever this ends for the Giants this year, this week, next week or on November 26th, it's going to be tough to replace this senior group and these guys.
  9. Only three Ben Davis teams have averaged more points (42) than this year's Giants... 2017 (47.4) 1991 (46.5) 2001 (43.3) I think the Giants have executed well to this point with an excellent QB, too.
  10. Some PP Catholic schools are tied to specific parishes. Ritter, Roncalli, Chatard, Scecina for ex. are tied to parishes. Cathedral and Brebeuf Jesuit are not.
  11. It's 11 by my count. 1940, 1950, 1951, 1954, 1958, 1964, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979 In addition, they were .500 in 1947, 1949 and 1953. So, all totaled up, the program had 11 winning and a total of 14 non-losing seasons between 1937 and 1983.
  12. I agree with much of this. Ben Davis had always been pretty good in basketball, but the football team largely struggled between 1937 and 1983. Bob Wilbur did a fine job at BD in the 70's, but the big jump came from the hiring of Dick Dullaghan. Coach D arrived on campus with a program that had a record of 155-265-12. When he retired, BD was 368-307-12. I attribute the biggest jump in hiring Coach D and Coach Kevin Vanderbush. Judge Dillon's deseg order bussed students from IPS into the townships, and that went into effect in 1981. Washington closed in 1995. For a real primer, you might pick up Steve Witty's book "I Remember When The Game Had No Class" because he covers it from the basketball side.
  13. At the risk of being corrected by Temptation, you are not correct.
  14. Those LED lights are far more efficient and less costly over time.
  15. Flory seems like an amazing guy. I am really glad he landed at Kokomo. It seems like he is embraced by the community.
  16. As long a Ray Skillman keeps signing the checks, that part is taken. The field would be a great touch.
  17. My father was an assistant principal at Ripple from 1979-1997, Hank Easter.
