So let's equate this to football.
Under the three high school system, we would have three schools with about 1700 students
Under the two high school system, we would have two schools with about 2500 students.
Regardless of the outcome, South Bend football with still suck.

I don't see these issues in other diocese. Why is Indianapolis so different?

Whenever I look at our student population, we have some kids in special needs classes that do count towards our enrollment that could never be included in a pool of students involved in extra curriculars. When I pulled up Mater Dei and Providence's faculty members, they do not seem to have a special education department. I think this sir is what you are eluding to. I've coached kids that have had to quit playing football and other sports because they have had to work to help support their family. Probably not a common thing at Mater Dei. All enrollments are not equal.
I don't have a big problem with any school recruiting kids for any reason. I just think everyone should be held to the same set of rules if they are competing against each other. Maybe the IHSAA should set some restrictions on movement such as a student can only have full eligibility for the school they begin the school with, unless there is a physical move.
The IHSAA has recognized two sports that have "special needs" students as well as non-"special-needs" students, Unified Flag Football and Unified Track and Field. All students must abide by the eligibility rules. There are probable more "special-needs" students in athletics that you think.

No one here is talking about the best sport, rugby. No helmets or passing. Six Nations is the best.

That's a lot of responsibility for 21.25 an hour. Doesn't seem to have much time to coach

South Bend Washington....and the rest

I find this funny that this is a mostly Indianapolis area discussion. But then again, it's Indianapolis, the rest of us don't matter.

Not surprising by who they played. Should Clay consolidate in football?
When the big prize is the "city championship", that says a lot. I would almost consider that South Bend Schools create their own football conference.

Once again, South Bend goes 0-3 in the first round. Adams is the only hope left.
-
I see the all in as a big money grab for schools that don't make money from football.
You hope you are in a sectional that has teams that travel well, since you get to split the sectional money.
It could be a make or break for many schools.

I have always appreciated a simple approach to the tournament
1. A team must have 4 wins to qualify (only two results of a game are possible). You know what you have to do.
2. The playoffs would start the same week of our second round of the sections in order to get the pairings together based on the teams that qualified (the classes may not be equal, but refer to rule 1)
3. ADs would adjust their schedules accordingly. It may take a couple of years, but the schedules will work out.
4. The issue would be teams that get their sixth loss may tank games. You would hope that wouldn't happen, but that is the reality of any situation.

Hats off to Indiana Deaf. It is a very unique experience to watch their games.
Much success to them in future endeavors.

I think SB need 2 traditional high school and one magnet high school.
Asjc said that and I was just being curious which high school would close, which one would become magnet and what two would stay open?
If you read some of the previous posts, the South Bend School Board said no schools will be closed.
So it will remain 4 high schools in the foreseeable future

Just for some information, in 1969, South Bend had 8 high schools in the district:
Central, Adams, Clay, La Salle, Washington, Jackson, Riley, and North Liberty.

Washington consolidates into Adams. Clay stays the Magnet school and Riley stays open?
The better solution would be to combine Washington and Clay and reopen LaSalle. But no high school will be consolidated. That was from the school board
-
According to comments from the school board, there will be no schools consolidated.
With that in mind the current populations of all the school is about: Adams 2000, Riley 1000, Washington and Clay 800 each.
Many students don't attend their school for the magnet, only for their district. Also, because of Plan Z (federal order) the school boundaries are gerrymandered.
There hasn't been a big name hire in South Bend for a long time. They also have trouble finding quality coaches in the middle schools. There is no Pop Warner in South Bend. There is Rocket Football, but that is more for Penn than South Bend.
South Bend had more success when their middle school football was in the spring. The high school coaches could work with the kids and there was better transition to high school football. To me, that would be a tremendous first step.

Non SBCSC schedule since 1994
Adams 39-167 .282
Clay 55-141 .280
Riley 47-147 .242
Washington 56-131 .299
-
winning seasons since 1994
Adams 2
Clay 8
Riley 3
Washington 9

I think people aren't talking because there isn't anything unusual going on. The strong teams are strong, the weak teams are weak.
I don't see anything happening that won't be expected.
The topics for discussion have already been talked about.
Should Elkhart and Penn leave the conference?
Are the former North Star conference members happy?
The South Bend/St. Joe/Marian schools...will there be any improvement this year?

Because you’re going to end up with kids playing for 4 different schools in 4 different years if kids are able to freely transfer without eligibility restrictions. And to that point I would think you’d see tampering on a whole different level.
That happens in South Bend alot

I say get rid of the scrimmage and go straight into week 1. This could allow for a bye week during the season or the playoffs.

Even if the ratings are a bit "premature", I still believe that the ratio of Indianapolis area schools to the rest of the state schools, is pretty much in proportion in all classes (maybe not 1A)

Personal disagreements aside, how has the success factor impacted the gridiron -- as a whole -- in Indiana since its implementation: Positively, negatively, no change?
Just wanted to refocus the group.

The changes would go into effect for the 24-25 school year
Early opinions are that very few are for any of the proposals
