Ultimately, the governing body of a group of members answers to … the members. The IHSAA bylaws specify the process by which the IHSAA Commissioner’s office runs the day to day activities, while the Executive Committee (elected by the Members) oversees them. Pretty much the way most corporations operate: shareholders elect a Board of Directors, who hire the CEO and oversee operations.

In fairness, I think we should entertain the possibility that this is simply a generational thing. So much is different now from the “good old days” that I can conceive of the combination of great skill and “now” generation sensitivities being compatible, and not a hindrance. Perhaps not the quality of the football, but definitely the entitlement mentality 35 yrs. or so of ping pong balls and all-in has fostered. The IHSAA’s waving the white flag because they couldn’t figure out how to please everyone with a qualification format is the single most destructive decision in the history of Indiana high school football.
