"GS is building a Center Grove like dynasty down in SW Indiana- that much is clear.

Ok. First of all- big congrats to the Titans, coaches, and their fans on reaching the big dance. (Is this really your all’s first trip). We in the PAC knew it was a long time coming. Enjoy the experience and I fully expect you all to win the blue ring."

    - Boy, you surely don't take compliments very well.

    - I never once have came on here and trashed what GS has built and how good of a program they've become. You may take it that way - but I've said all year, once I saw the product on the field, that this GS team was a State Championship caliber team. I simply questioned if they would be in this spot if not for some pretty impactful ....well, you know. And they very well, and probably would, still be in the same spot. But I don't think that's an out-of-line question to ask?

    - I could have gone into the rumors of how certain acquisitions have been made- but I really don't/didn't want a back/forth with the Titan posters. That is obviously a no-win situation. You all are extremely passionate and proud, as you should be. I would say respectful, but you seem to take pleasure in trashing our program, that I would feel has been not to shabby itself.

I think I'll sign off now and deactivate my account, as this has become too toxic of a place for me.

    Best of luck on Friday.

One thing I feel fairly certain on is that if SR or HH would have done the same thing in their really good years, GS people would have been asking the same questions.  GS people should be defending their program.  People outside the program, in other conference schools, probably question it some.  Nothing illogical about that either.

GS would have been very good regardless.  Would they have beaten Lawrenceburg without the extra additions? Probably not on that given night.  However, I think if that game is played 10 times, it wouldn't be that close again.  Gibson dodged a bullet against a good team.  No way Tri-West was going to play them that close.

Gibson is fun to watch play.  They play fast.  They win this week.  They are the best team.  And, I think after next year, they are probably looking at moving to 4A.   They will be good again next year.  Although not as good as this year, they will have a very good chance at winning the sectional and regional.

There were some positivities for sure.  Take away the two bad GS snaps and the turnover on the punt return and also take away the 4th Q numbers there would be significantly less.

    On to next week.

One of those bad snaps didn't matter because they scored on the very next play, I think.   There were also a few other times were MTV was inside the 10 yard line but came away with no points.  I think the final score was representative of about what it should have been.  Game was competitive in spots, but never in doubt.

    Good luck this week.

Reb08 why you so salty man?

Well, someone has to do something to make this thread interesting.  Otherwise, it's GS people or coaches just communicating back and forth, which is rather mundane.

I would say there was enough positives for MTV to take away from that game.

First off, was impressed that the MTV kids competed hard throughout.

Stop on 4th & goal, forced Gibson to punt, and got pressure on their QB a number of times.  And MTV had 14 first downs and moved the ball pretty well, especially on the ground at times.  Maybe gives us some reason for optimism in a couple weeks.

  4. 4 hours ago, Titan32 said:

It's easy to see and hear from the other sideline.  Players report the exact dialog.  MTV was only marginally better than the middle of the teams in the PAC this year.  It's understandable for the media to latch on to that record though.

    Time to move on.

I see.  You were able to see and hear from the other sideline, but the officials missed this. Makes sense.  Maybe if MTV would have had 3-4 seniors transfer in that are starters, that would have been the needed boost to be better than the middle of the PAC this year.

While in the stands on Friday night, this quip had to be the highlight of the night from a clever MTV fan.   After a questionable no-call that could have been a late hit against GS, the MTV fan stated, "Hey Gibson Southern, did you recruit these officials too? "

  5.  Dang, a lot of speculation on this thread.  Wow.  As far as coaching, I've had my day in the sun with it.  Not tough enough to dedicate the time required to do it well anymore.  If you know the right individual, not that difficult to get a password to watch hudl.  I guess I'm as entitled as anyone else to get on a meaningless forum, and make meaningless comments as well.  I'm pretty sure it's not that difficult for coaches around the conference to turn on the film and see the individual player consistently involved in extracurricular activity on a weekly basis.  That's not overly difficult to see.

Also, I recently had a well respected Gibson Southern parent express that a number of Gibson coaches are active on this forum.  Guess they don't mind stirring it up.

If I'm a player, coach, fan, etc....I'm pulling for Gibson to win it all this year, and hopefully get moved up to 4a.   The young kids they have are dynamite as well, and the pipeline they have from Illinois makes them even more lethal.    Heritage, Southridge, MV, and anyone in that sectional isn't beating them next year.   Real good shot they will get moved up.

As far as this year, they are a buzz saw.  I don't see how anyone beats them if they stay healthy.  They have been more than judicious about not running up the score on people.  Some of these could have gotten real ugly.  Defensively they are so much better than in the past.  They were porous at times in the past.  Not the case this year.  They play fast.

    @Reb08is this dirty?

Great win by Gibson Southern over Heritage.  Will take a special team to beat them if they stay healthy.  Just so everyone knows I'm not crazy, a personal foul was called on #63 on this very play.  Kudos to the official for calling it, as he was right on top of it.  Appears that something might have been said as he unnecessarily pulled the kid down, jumped on him, and then said something.   Pretty clear from EZ view. This was the first scoring play for Gibson against  Southridge.

I will say that this stuff was almost non-existent against Heritage.   Gibson has a great staff.....sure they are getting it cleaned up

Seriously trying to figure out why a guy from SS gives two hoots about GS? I mean you are the school that got 2 basketball transfers last year aren't you? Can you name me the names of the father's of those two kids that moved in to SS?  Those were a lot more shaky than the move ins GS got. Maybe 63 stole your girl, or he stole your kids spot? Btw just how have you seen so much after the fact video, unless your in the stands at GS games more than at SS? Also if your an adult, shame on you for getting on a blog, and going after a 17 year old kid. If you had any guts you could just call the GS high school AD, and complain to him. He is the football coach, or just message me and I'll give you 63's dad's phone number, and you can talk to him.

As I stated before, haven’t been at SS for years.  And don’t keep us with basketball, so really not familiar with what you are speaking of.

Not overly concerned with you opinion, just like I’m sure you aren’t with mine.

First of all- GS is insanely good this year.

Secondly, the GS transfer thing has been hammered home pretty good on this thread. Building “superteams” is not a new phenomenon up/around the Indy area (I have relatives that live in Avon/Brownsburg/Zionsville area, and they keep me up to date on all the moving/shaking up there). But for our rural neck of the woods, adding 4 legit new starters to an otherwise already loaded team (well, I know one played last year) seems a bit...I don’t know the correct word to use??

Curious to know for all you GS fans out there...say you do reach the mountaintop. Will it “sour” it at all with the narrative going around that you had to bring in all this help to get it done?  I’m not saying I agree with that- but that will be the narrative.

I would think it wouldn’t sit well with me...but I get it- no program on earth would turn away those players.

I would most closely agree with this.  I'm sure GS saw areas of deficiencies, and these individuals likely will put them over the top.  At this level, the addition of a couple players can make a drastic difference.

Gibson would have been very good anyway.    Maybe HH can produce some sort of challenge....and by challenge I mean not a running clock.  It is a contrast in styles....HH can be physical.  Get some first downs, and keep the clock running.

However, they are miles better than anyone else in the PAC.

I'm not sure if its dirty, but it looks like a pass?? Why is this OL on top of DL on a pass play at the line of scrimmage? Its blurry but it looks like his hands are outside the frame so possibly a hold call?

Great point regarding why the OL is on top of the DL during a pass play.  This is not an uncommon occurrence for this particular O-Lineman during the course of the game.  Actually, this fuzzy photo reinforces the point I was trying to make.  Didn't see quite as much of this from him on Friday.  Maybe the crew was watching it more?

Serious question.   How many starters for Gibson Southern are transfers from other schools?

  10. 33 minutes ago, Bobref said:

So, by my reckoning, you’ve gone from “he’s a dirty player every week,” to “something happened at the end of the South Warren game.” That’s quite a difference.

He is.  Every week.  It just got worse against South Warren....I'm guessing out of frustration because they were getting beat decidedly? No idea.  It's consistently extracurricular crap at the end of many plays.  Playing past the whistle.  It's cheap shot stuff....and if good enough at it, doesn't always get caught.  I'm sure you can agree that it's possible for a player to be dirty and not always be flagged for it.

Maybe the coaches have tried to correct it?  Some kids are more difficult to coach than others.

You have more faith than I that most officiating crews will catch it.  With the current state of officiating, the quality unfortunately continues to diminish.

Maybe when the action is live, it's more difficult to catch.  If you have the benefit to watch film every week, it stands out.

Please notify Coach Hart or the IHSAA. Not very classy to call out a HS player by number (effectively by name) and then hurl comments at him.

How about you stay on topic and give us some insight on South Spencer and your expectations for the Rebels in Reo this week?

I haven't coached at SS in years, so no help there.  Sorry.

Might not be classy, but don't really care.  Watch the end of the South Warren game...their coaching staff certainly didn't miss it.

Maybe when Gibson plays HH in a couple weeks you might notice.  It's bush league.  Believe that is the transfer from Castle....one of many Gibson transfers.

    Whatever.

  12. 2 minutes ago, Bobref said:

It’s a real mystery … unless, of course, it’s all in your imagination.

Sure it is.  You can watch the South Warren game online.  It's bush league stuff.  Should be corrected by their coaches.  Pretty evident every week....got ridiculous towards the end of the South Warren game.  Unnecessary, and a safety concern.

Lol, that's called Adams Central being up 35-0. I said in my game picks this week that Parke Heritage would find the Flying Jet's brand of football a little more harsh than they're used to. Watching that game tonight, Adams Central looked down right nasty. Slow, methodical, punishing, run attack. Only 3 passes thrown the whole game. Parke Heritage does not look like a top 10 team.

Parke Heritage is just dysfunctional.  No discipline or grit.  Lack of effort by the rejects that came from TH or wherever.  Zero clue about proper placement of defensive personnel, and defensive scheme equally bad.  All of this coming from a team led by a HOF coach??  Someone please tell me the last time a Coach Moore team won a game they weren't supposed to win.   Embarrassing performance.  Forget about it.   If you want to talk PH Athletics, stick with Basketball.

On a positive note, I guess they are the best team in a bad version of the WRC this year.

I hate to hear that. Why would they let the first one go but fight the second one? Seems like, if you're going to fight one, you should fight all of them.

I agree.  From what I understand, the Warrick Co. Superintendent is retiring at the end of the year, and possibly didn't want to mess with it.  Also, remember the first one transferring has a mother that is an administrator in Warrick Co.  Might be possible that the dynamics of that could have impacted it.   I think obviously they didn't expect a second transfer to take place.

  15. Hearing that another starting offensive lineman from Castle will be transferring to Gibson Southern.   Castle did not fight the first one, and will be fighting this one.  Apparently, the dad lives in Gibson County so might be a loophole.   Castle people are pissed.

I completely disagree...in their BEST of the BEST teams in the past 10 years there were some kids who could hit a home run but the big play didn't hurt us as much as the methodical ability to move the chains over those years.  I will agree with your defensive comment and add they are always very sound in special teams even in their down years.  A couple home run hitters won't win games against good programs.  I'm not sold enough on Mt. Vernon to bring them into the conversation yet, even after watching a few of their guys at MFA.

I'll take trying to defend methodical over home run hitters any day of the week.  Examples - Devon Mockobee, Cole Sigler.  I know you probably got a first-hand look at Mockobee last year against Gibson.

In the 2019 sectional game, methodical didn't hurt Gibson Southern.  Sigler's ability to break big plays late in the game did it.....unless my memory is wrong.  Can't speak about the other games with these two programs. I will say that Gibson's inability to defend the run has probably hurt them in some games against HH.

And you are right about Mount Vernon...until they prove it, they are not much of a threat.   Only time will tell.

  17. 2 hours ago, Titan32 said:

They won't need "dynamic" skill players, it's three yards and a cloud of dust.  It is hard to beat someone when you don't have the ball.  Looks like they will have 2 to 3 of the kind of kid they look for in the backfield.

I disagree strongly.  Three yards and a cloud of dust you reference is a misnomer.  Their state state runner-up team wasn't that.  They had better players and Cole Sigler to break the homerun.  They were not "three yards and a cloud of dust".   They had really good personnel.....dynamic at all positions, including the offensive line.  That is not who they are now.  However, they can still be successful.

They will be a very good team this year.  Honestly, I think their strength is on the defensive side of the ball.  That's how they stayed in games last year. The question will be what will happen when they play a team that has better athletes?  That methodical type offense doesn't always work when playing from behind.  Can they score 21 or 28 points in a game to beat Gibson, Southridge, or Mt. Vernon?    The rest of the schedule doesn't pose much of an issue.

  18. 6 hours ago, fenderbender said:

You have to give a better  hint than that.

Transfer OL from Castle.  Really good player.  Fine, no big deal.  What is unfortunate, however, is that his mother is an administrator in Warrick County.  She has bigger stones than I have considering that.  Supposedly their logic was that he would get more exposure "blocking" for Brady Allen, than he would at Castle.  Not sure that makes sense to me.

Equally concerning is I guess the days of being loyal to your high school have diminished.   Seems to be more focus on the how the individual can benefit and less loyalty in some cases.

I think the week 1 matchup against HH and MV should be an interesting one based on all the feedback on this thread about MV.  Personally, I think HH makes the biggest jump in the PAC this year and is going to be very formidable.

It will be a good one.  Not sure how dynamic HH will be with their skilled kids.  FB will be a really good player.  The question will be can they generate enough offense to beat good teams?

  20. Don't sleep on Mt. Vernon.  They have a freshman QB that is special....has a chance to be really good as a sophomore next year.  His leadership skills and work ethic is what makes him really special, along with his athletic ability.  In addition, they have other pieces around him.  They have the potential to have a nice 4-5 year run here.  However, until you prove it, people won't believe it.

issue I heard about Kent was he wanted to step in and be head coach. Doesn’t matter how much you think you know. Sometimes it’s better to sit back and listen. Is Kent coaching any places now? I know he was teaching at RP a couple years ago. He was a great football player, nice kid, but does he have the ability to develop a team?

Just for fun do you think PH would of had better success under someone other then Moore? Base this on the candidates they would be getting after going 4-17 the previous 2 years.

No, I don't think PH would have had better success under someone other than Moore.   He is a good coach, not great in my opinion, despite his record, as some would suggest on here.  Mark of a great coach or having a great staff is whenever you can win games you aren't suppose to.  When is the last time he has done that?  Another simple question....

When is the last time a Coach Moore led team won anything of significance?   Something more than a sectional?  When they did advance to the regional during his most recent time at Fountain Central, as a head coach & assistant, they got lambasted.    Same stuff.....terrible defense, with no regard for having any type of defensive integrity.   If you don't believe me, go back and look up the scores.   Gashed.

Fast forward to his time at Parke Heritage.....same stuff, terrible defense.  How can someone be considered so great, but not show any improvement on the defensive side of the ball in his 3 years there so far?  3 years?  Simple question.  Someone please answer it.

Finally, I'm starting to think his success at Seeger can be attributed to the late and great Tom Cook.  Tom was his defensive coordinator.   Man, how I wish I could speak with Coach Cook.

Also, just to note, when Coach Malone was at FC from 2009-2011, they didn't play stupid defense.  That was a great coaching staff top to bottom.  Moore was a part of that staff as well.  Not sure what has happened to his defensive approach, but it ain't good.

As it sits, all games will be played except the MV vs NP game.  Both teams should be back and ready for their week 9 game.

    Boonville vs.  SS  is cancelled.
