Laville's one loss to NJ shocks me. Maybe a Covid thing. Tough kids and coached well. Cass is down and seems to have packed it in with their effort against TL.
Ironic that you mentioned ToughKids and Coached well, not sure if you meant North Judson or Laville kids I think that twas the difference in those tewo teams is the line play. Judson had the tougher kids in the tranches and that always seems to be Laville;s short coming. Not sure if it is a developmental issue, coaching issue or they don't get those kids in the weight room as much. That is what keeps them from winning the big games against Pioneer, Judson, Lewis Cass, Winamac 4 years ago, Knox, etc.

Don't count out North Judson...
After watching the Jays twice, there is no way they come close to beating Laville. They will not stop the passing game and probably not score! Unimpressed for being 6-1

Knox @ Triton - Skins get a much needed big win
Winamac @ Caston - Warriors beat up on Comets
North Judson @ LaVille - Never know what to expect from the Lancers, so taking Jays in a close one
Culver @ Pioneer - Panthers tune things up in this one

How is #10 doing? Any chance he makes it back for sectionals?
Last i hear is he might be back by then but not 100% guarantee but against winamac, we lost our starting center and middle linebacker james bettcher and sounds like he may not be back at all. so we are starting a freshman battery in qb and center. do uou think ole radke will feel sorry for us come friday night?

If Winamac can hold you guys to 75. Knox might keep you guys below 50
I agree with you...seems like the only thing that we can get out of this offense is hope to catch the defense by surprise on a pass or two. If that isn't happening, we won't be doing anything. Unless your playing caston, then everything seems to work. When a freshman backup qb is getting more touches than a stud sr athlete on the team, there is a problem with the offense. Knox should win thiis with no problem. Change the name from the spin offense, to spinning your wheels offense.

Knox 28 - Laville 0 - Coach H has Laville's D in good shape this year, but they won't be able to hold off Knox the whole game. I imagine their offense will continue to struggle against the Redskins D as their backers will have a big game.
Pioneer 60 - Triton 0 - Not much to say about this one.
Winamac 48 - Culver 6 - Let's see if Winamac's offense can score some points this week as they have been held to zero the past two weeks (six points scored by their D against Laville). I bet they get their offense rolling soon with their upcoming schedule. What happened to Culver?
North Judson 32 - CMA 12 - North Judson is playing some good ball right now as their defense seems to be hot. Should be an interesting matchup against a 4A school(down this year or not).
Caston 40 - North White 18 - Caston snaps their losing streak this week!
Laville will score against Knox with that spin offense. Probably a safe bet to pcik Knox by a few TD's. Laville has had some costly injuries.

Player development in the trenches is where I think a problem like that stems.

LaVille has a lot of 3-4 year players and experience on this team will benefit them throughout the year. Should be favorite in the conference and Andrew Dill should be a breakout player for them. He should be the featured back and get a huge number of carries. Czarnecki has really developed into a great safety, plus is a weapon with his leg. Doyle will be a seasoned QB and OLB and with Bettcher playing a bigger role for them, it should be a big year.
Laville will always have the same question going into every season, can they beat a “good” team? They haven’t been able to to in the Hostrawer regime. Winamac will be better just with the coaching change, so it should be a good year in the conference.

If I'm not mistaken, they return about 95% of their roster. With the add of Radtke and the amount of experience they have coming back, they're looking for a great run.
95% of their roster returns? Didn’t realize they had that many returning! It will be interesting what changes Radtke may implement, personal wise.
-
Don’t know much about Knox, what do they have returning?

Lewellen won’t get the nod at QB? Are you kidding me? That has been Pioneers most productive position for years and their going to groom a freshman. I’m not buying it. Or it will last less than last year test of a new QB. Having Lewellen as QB just gives them a threat and an extra blocker, don’t change something that isn’t broken.

Don’t agree if this is the decision, but I unfortunately think the season gets canceled. Do not want to see another damn pandemic like this again! Throw money into science and research to prevent crap like this from happening.

No way Pioneer is ranked #2. They will be solid but nothing like they were the past. It takes more than 2 guys.

Pioneer might not be the best team in their conference this season. I think Knox and LaVille finally knock Pioneer from the top of the HNAC heap. As far 2A goes, I think LaVille can do something in post season but would have to beat Pioneer twice. I think they are a better “team” but Pioneer has the 2 best players hands down and better coaching and program. They know how to win.

This is a real possibility. I know Jimtown numbers are lowering every year. This might lead to an uptick. Interesting to see what happens.
I think Jimtown may see some numbers increase with the Elkhart consolidation, in terms of transfers.

Happy for that young man for coming back
What happen to Carson Steele? Is he now a jr or Sr?

To me it was to many mistakes by Laville that lead to Lewis Cass big plays. Started with the pick 6. You have the lead 7-0, your defense stopped Lewis Cass twice and forced punts and your pinned down at the 4 yard line. I don’t think you throw there! Run it, try to get out from your own own goaline and either punt or if you get a first down, then try some type of pa pass. But to throw there from the four leading, bad decision. So Lewis Cass scores goes up 8-7. Next offense series, Laville is faced with a 4th and 7 at Lewis Cass 43 and they go for it and don’t make it. 5 plays later Cass up 16-7. Then comes a blocked punt on next offense series and Cass scores. Then a decision to kick a field goal from 47 yards out and it gets blocked and returned for a touchdown. I guess before the blocked field goal, Laville did add a score but allowed the ensuing kickoff to be returned for a touchdown. So it was just to many opportunities given to Cass by Laville that buried them by halftime. I’m not taking anything away from Lewis Cass but Laville didn’t do anything to help themselves out with turnovers and allowing quick scores.
-
I also would say that watching Laville play Lewis Cass and Pioneer, I think Laville needs to start going for 2 points after a score! Lewis Cass had 14 points, 2 touchdowns on just conversions last night! Unbelievable
-
Anyone at the game last night that would like to recap what they saw last night?
Can Lewis Cass make it through the next couple weeks to get to LOS?
Will Laville ever get their program to a level that can compete for sectional titles at a 2a level?
Hats off to Cass, they got punched in the mouth right off the bat but did not flinch. They execute their game plan to a t and played physical and fast. Laville let the game get away from them from self inflicted mistakes and over a period of 10 mins, the score went from 8-7 Cass to 40-14 Cass.
Would like to hear others comments on the game.

Let’s see if Laville can get the monkey off their back and win a big game.

I'm going to be quite honest and say the same. I haven't seen or been to a game since I coached against them either. 2 weeks ago was indeed my first game as well. I will say this THEY ARE INSANELY PHYSICAL. I remember hearing this my whole life, DO NOT take a play off and give it your all between whistles 110%. I also have preached that to my kids I coach now. If any of the 11 for LAVILLE take a play off or even just a second. THEY WILL NOT WIN. THEY WILL END UP ON THEIR BACK. THEY WILL GET BEAT DEAP.. THEY WILL GET RAN OVER. This CASS team is NASTY, they play fast, VERY FAST, and they play smart. MOST IMPORTANTLY THEY ARE VERY PHYSICAL. When they played PIONEER first week of Sectionals I watched 3RBs and 2OLs all have individual PANCAKES on the same snap. ALL 5 DEFENSE PLAYERS for PIONEER WERE 10 YARDS DEEP AND ON THEIR BACKS. Then I noticed this wasn't a highlight. THIS WAS EVERY SNAP. As the Game progressed it was more and more prevalent. I was astonished by the pure DOMINANCE.
With that being said LAVILLE is a very good football team. If anyone on here thinks that LAVILLE is being overlooked you are wrong. The coaching staff at CASS will have these boys ready. LEWIS CASS WILL NEVER VIEW A GAME AS A CUPCAKE.
The players know LAVILLE'S record and will not. I REPEAT WILL NOT LOOK PAST THIS TEAM. Looking forward to watching this game. BEST OF LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS
Any chance this game will be streamed or carried by IHSAA?
-
All I’m saying is that history shows that Laville has not been able to win BIG games under Hostrawser. That’s not a knock, just truth. I want to see the kids win! But after looking at who they have beaten this season compared to Cass, I think Laville will have problems coming close in this BIG game too.
-
Here are the opponents records of teams Laville and Cass have beat this season. As much as I would like to see the kids get a championship, it is going to be a very tall task. This is where Laville has always had problems, winning the big games. Looks like it may be the case this year too. Laville beat 2 teams with winning records and they were 1A. Cass has beaten 6 teams with winning records. I guess this could be worse than I thought!

You think Pioneer will beat Laville by that much? There is no way it will be nearly that bad! I belkieve it will be within 2 scores and if Laville can score first, I think they have a shot of upsetting them.
I also do not see NJ beating Culver that bad this time either.
