Brian Urlacher will be on hand at Blue Chip here in Michigan City for the ribbon cutting and place the first bet at the new Fan Duel Sports Book. Bears are +3 point favorites with an Under/Over of 46.5 against the Packers tonight. With a +140 straight bet payout for the Packers and a - 160 for the Bears. Daniels released a statement late Thursday saying that Purdue’s trustees will consider a policy, of some sort, at their Oct. 10 meeting on the West Lafayette campus. Daniels said the policy was still in the works and no specifics have been released. He said some faculty members and Purdue athletics department urged the administration to come up with a policy. The news comes weeks after the first bets were placed at the start of September at Indiana casinos and sports books. The Indiana General Assembly legalized gambling on sporting events, including NCAA games. The Indiana Gaming Commission permitted 13 locations – 10 casinos and three off-track betting sites – to start taking bets on Sept. 1. I understand employees, especially coaches and auxiliary staff members but not sure why students could not bet on their beloved Boilermakers. I can see both sides of this one as far as students go. Just curious....years and years ago, there was a set amount you could win before you would be taxed. IIRC, it was $2,000. The tracks even had IRS reps woking the windows.
