DaveMosbey
For the 2nd straight week Heritage Hills won a tough road game this time beating a good Mater Dei team. After 1 quarter it was HH 13 MD 11, at halftime HH 33 MD 28, after 3 HH 44 MD 43 and Final Heritage Hills 69 Mater 54. Both teams shot well from the free throw line HH was 12 out of 13 and MD was 7 out of 9. Patriots improve to 15-1 and Wildcats fall to 10-4. Heritage Hills scoring Becher 22 Sisley 14 Scherry 12 Begle 9 Sigler 7 Liebering 3 Doyle 2 Mater Dei scoring Schoenstein 19 Carter 14 Phelps 7 Hiester 6 Money 4 Weinzepfel 2 Heldman 2 Mater Dei comes from behind in the JV game to win 44-43 , Patriot JV falls to 12-2 One more note HH was without their best defensive player Cade Jones who was injured at Southridge last week Cade also leads HH in charges taken and 2nd in assists. He needed surgery so not sure if he will return or not but a deep bench really helps when your a man down.
Bcaster
Patriot coaching staff is on record as saying the start of the 4th quarter was likely the best 4 to 5 minute stretch they had played all season. That stretch was in response to Mater Dei scoring to start the 4th and taking their first lead since the first quarter. Senior Carson Leibering was the catalyst. He hit a huge 3 at one end (his only points of the night) and on the other end made an incredible hustle play to beat 3 MD players to a loose ball, kept his balance, got his eyes up the floor and found Murray Becher for an and-one. That was the start of an 8-0 or 9-0 run for HH. Patriot coaches were as impressed with the defense during that stretch as anything.
HoopsRunner
Carson came up huge. the back to back plays of hitting the 3 and then making a great steal and dish for the and one really raised the energy level
Screagle
Tough weekend for Mater Dei. Memorial beat them 71-63 the next day without the services of 6’10” Sam Devault.
