That’s a fairly big haul for a 6A Indy team to make to play a 3A team (no matter who they are). Kudos to GS. No one could have guessed when those college fraternity photos of Southport’s AD would come in handy.... It will be interesting to see if we keep them. What I’m hoping for is another close game whether GS wins this time and both programs agree this is a great matchup to keep. Truthfully I wouldn’t even mind if GS goes 1-3 to start the season as long as they are improving and playing the games close. There is no hiding what GS is trying to accomplish here....it’s all about being battle tested heading into the playoffs.

How can their schedule make you better, they PAC should have put them in the smaller school division and moved Southridge to the other division. Also if a stronger schedule doesnt do you some good why would Jasper and Vin come to the SIAC and dont give ne it was for the money reason. Well it is money mostly, but I would also assume that their fan base are hard core gamblers and they can hit the casino on road trips.................otherwise there was absolutely no reason for them to join the SIAC. 18 minutes ago, DumfriesYMCA said: It will be interesting to see if we keep them. Believe it if GS were to lose to Columbus North, Southport, and owensboro in close 4 quarter games I would not be worried. if they are bad losses that’s a different story. first 4 games the average enrollment is probably about 3 times the size of GS Edited December 4, 2019 by DumfriesYMCA

reitzguy
Just seen where Evansville Harrison is looking for a new coach. Anyone think Coach Hart could be lured to the SIAC. They need someone out there to change the culture. Woukd love to see him in the SIAC, but I dont think it will happen

DumfriesYMCA
Coach Hart has it made at GIbson Southern. Complete and absolute support from the administration and community....players buying in....a large number of assistant coaches bought into the program. and now the roster is 80+ kids. im not sure about pay or what he does for work inside SGSC but I imagine he is pretty happy with life

Seems to be a perfect fit. Good guy - good community & school. Should have a good chance to finally get to Lucas Oil the next couple of years too with Memorial in 4A and Heritage Hills graduating a lot of seniors. My understanding is that he has yet to buy a house and is still renting (don't flame me for something I heard if it isn't true). He is a great coach and has a great thing going at Gibson Southern. Frankly I hope he never leaves.....a team like GS is a great thing to have in the PAC. Then there is Allen. The stars may be aligning for a run to LOS and maybe a state title. Chatard surely will move up and Memorial ain't going anywhere for a while. An opportunity to coach a kid like Allen is a once in a lifetime thing (maybe twice) at a public school. Besides Allen coming back, what else does GS have coming back that puts them in the “possible trip to LOS” talk. Did they not loose alot from this team as well. #13 will tough to replace as will 4 and 19.

Like you, I have heard talk--from a guy at GS--that if they were going to make a run it would have been this year. Again, with a couple of the private programs moving out of 3A and everything falls into place....just gotta make it out of sectional. Braden tucker (6’4 320) made junior all state for 3A is returning logan murfin who had 500 yards receiving also returning. those are 2 notable names. on a side note if I’m not mistaken the current freshman are the first class who have been running the “Hart defense” their entire career and were very familiar with the schemes as 8th graders. Maybe I’m biased because my brother is in this class of rising sophomores but it was mentioned to me last year or so that they were fully using the same schemes Hart implemented and I believe we’re one of the first to I guess only know that scheme. I guess the take away is that the rising sophomore class may have potential to make a splash...at least maybe on defense Haha. im biased on this though

Seth delong had the 5th beat receiving year ever for a GS player (at least to what I can find). He led the PAC in receiving with 830 yards and had 11 scores to go with it. maxpreps doesn’t have classes broken up correctly but I believe Seth was #5 in receiving yards this year in 3A. I just want to clarify this as I have the correct stats now. Seth had the 3rd best season for a GS receiver. someone not on this list who should be is Spencer Schmidt. In 2012 he had 64 catches for 811 yards and 3 scores. also worth noting that prior to 2012 the most completions in a season for GS was 87. Now it’s a regular occurrence to be over 150 sometimes pushing 200 Edited December 10, 2019 by DumfriesYMCA

Why we wasted those 2 spots on Tell City and North Posey....I just can't understand. I can't understand why they would even want to play us. Why not jump across the river for a challenge if you can't find anyone up here? I threw the paper away and cant remember exact quote but Coach talked about the schedule in the JD. First he said no area options with the SIAC schools having no non-conference opponents he also said he would prefer to play a potential playoff opponent then cross the river and play Kentucky teams... That tells me they are still looking at options to replace either Tell City or North Posey in the future but probably couldn't find the right fit before the deadline to get the PAC schedules reworked. Just a guess but thinking Gibson was likely looking at potential teams to pick up before any new conference was finalized. I could see changes in 2021 or 2022 but not sure I agree with scheduling 3A opponents, Never been a big fan of playing teams twice but seems most coaches like it. Could a HH - Brownstown regular season game be in the future ??

DaveMosbey
Basically the HH schedule only has a few changes. Princeton and Boonville replace Forest Park and Pike Central and Jasper and Washington swap places from regular season opponent to scrimmage opponent and vice versa.
