Comeback Program of the Year : Franklin Grizzly Cubs

An extra special callout to Head Coach Chris Coll and his Franklin High School football team

The Cubs, 5-35 over the past 4 seasons, are 7-1 on the 2019 season following a 41-7 win over Mid State Conference rival Greenwood Friday night.

Coll has turned out to be one of the best hires in recent memory.  After 11 years that included a state championship season at Tri West in 2014, Coll has brought his high flying passing game to Franklin and the Grizzly Cubs have responded in kind, averaging 43 ppg to rank 17th in the state in total scoring.

I always wondered why Franklin couldn't ever seem to put it together on the football field.  Coll has it figured out, and appears to have total buyin to his program in Year 3.

Franklin is 5-1 in conference play, their only loss coming to fellow air raid pioneer Mike Gillin and Mooresville 49-42 in week 6.  Possibly one of the biggest games in Franklin football history looms this week, as the Cubs host conference unbeaten Decatur Central (6-2/6-0) for the league championship.

And as an interesting side note, one of the assistant coaches on the staff was a starting DB on New Pal's 2014 title team and they could meet in the sectional.
