2 of the most rabid fan bases on the GID- so I’ll make my statement early in the week and then just duck for cover.

First of all, much respect to both programs. Their history speaks for itself…both have great followings and their players expect to win.

Having said that- and From the unique (and unfortunate) standpoint of having played both squads- I don’t think Memorial is gonna know what hits them Friday night.

I’m waiting for his prediction on Monday, the current one is Heritage Hills (-9).

Memorial has the QB and WRs to hang with anyone in 3A or 4A.  That said, based on film observation, they aren't as physical of a team as HH is.  The Memorial run defense is soft in the middle of the field.  Memorial better solve how to handle a QB that can take off better than they did last night.  PS The solution isn't a "spy" LB.

Secondly, for the record.  This Memorial QB is top notch....but he ain't no Lindauer.  AND this Memorial defense is NOT as good as their 2018/2019 defense...period end of story.

Trying to figure out who to cheer for.....hmmmm.  If HH makes it to state they are 4A next season....hmmmmm.  Memorial loses QB, Eslperman and the top tackler.....hmmmm.

Decisions....Decsions.

I watched both games from last night and based on film, I will go with the Tigers.  I could easily be wrong but that is my gut based on what I saw on tape.

HH line is big and physical and Memorial is a little weak against the run.  However VL's line was smaller and quicker, which gave HH line trouble for first half.  Tiger lineman are not as big but seem quicker and more athletic - similar to VL but much more talented.  Plus Memorial tackles far better than VL.

For Tigers to win however, Fisher cannot have the same game he had last night.  Certainly SR D played a role but many of Fisher's passes were well off the mark, something he rarely seems to do.  I think the Tiger passing game and its ability to score quickly from any point on the field is the difference as HH will run, run, run, run, run and then run again, burning up the clock and keeping ball away from the Tigers. In the end, the Tigers find a way to eeck out a 24 - 21 win.

mi dos centavos.

As always, best of luck to both teams for a well-played and injury free game.  Travel safely!

Im pretty sure its the start of a new success factor cycle and HH will be 3A next year no matter what

There are no more SF “cycles” - try and keep up.

This game is going to be either a high scoring one or a defensive slugfest. However, it will be nice to see the renovations to the Jungle and what HH has done with the stadium. Haven’t been there since the 2017 game.

I think Memorial’s defense will have a tough time with an offense that is effective both through the air and on the ground.  They just don’t have the horses to do both effectively (and losing an All-SIAC cornerback in JJ Lowery doesn’t help).

DC Ben Johnson can scheme with the best of them.  He is a phenomenal coach.  But there are no standouts over there beyond Broshears and O’Donohue.  And the secondary just hasn’t been challenged much all year - teams preferring to run the ball to keep Fisher, Ellspermann, and the offense off the field.

I expect a high scoring game. I’d guess that it will come down to which defense can get one or two more stops than the other one.

It will be interesting to see what Coach Johnson will scheme up, but this one feels like a high scoring matchup anyways. This one will be a classic in the making!

Um…HH defense is no joke…And I’m gonna go out on a limb and say probably the best D Memorial will have seen this year.

I’m not discounting HH’s defense.  I’m just saying that Memorial’s offense has been significantly better than its defense.  Fisher is a terrific passer and he spreads the ball around well to 4 or 5 receivers.  It’s hard for anybody to cover them all for 4 quarters if the OL can get him some time.

But the Tigers’ D has struggled against the run - and just hasn’t really faced an effective passing offense…let alone one that can do both.

Oh I know HH defense is legit, and I agree what you said. This will be best defensive team (and team) Memorial will face. Going to be a fun matchup nevertheless, since it’s finally happening after all the speculation.

Will this be streamed? I know Memorial is typically on IndianaSRN, not sure how it works with road games. Not seeing anything on IHSAAtv.org at the moment

Hard to pass against that HH 3-8 defense...LOL.  Those how know, know.  You can stop Merideth and Ruxer (ala GS)....and get them in 3rd and 4th 10+ situations (ala GS)....and Goldsberry will just take the snap and take off (better have your best athletes as edge defenders).  Also, what is hard to defend is not having any idea if they will punt, pass or run in those situations.

HH uses their HUDL focus camera (at home) and what looks to be HUDL production truck...I am sure they will broadcast via the IHSAA.

It should be, they probably haven’t posted it on there yet. They have live-streamed all of Memorial games  through Regionals over the last 2 years. IHSAA takes over when Semi-State happens.

Didn’t they go for it on 4th and 12 around their last own 15 last week? I thought I heard they did.

Yes they did.  Couldn't believe it.  Got the first down but that one was a bit of a head scratcher.
