That Thacker dad from New Pals is pretty pissed on Facebook about his son not winning the position award

Tough competition. He has an argument, but I don't think you can go wrong with either of them. This is not a slight on his son at all.

Did Warren Central have injuries down the stretch? They had six kids make the top 50 list, and two guys are up for Mr. Football at their respective positions.  I am trying to figure out how they did not go undefeated and win a state championship.

They had a shut down prime time Defense. Unfortunately their Offense was not very good at all. The kids on the top 50 list were very deserving of it.

His stats are pretty mindblowing when you consider all the greats that have come through Ben Davis. He's an all-time great. Highest quality character, too.

Pro:  Playing both ways at the 6A level is insane…

Con:  Ben Davis could only muster a 5-6 record.

Did they ever consider playing some guys both ways if the offense is so bad? Do guys play 2 ways at big schools?

They did actually…in goal to go situations.

They did play with Bell JR (Defensive Lineman) in the backfield any time they got in side the 15 yard line and he was a beast running the ball. It seemed as though everyone knew who was getting the ball in that situation and nobody could stop them. It happened later in the season, but they had to get down to the 15.

Their offense was a little baffling at times. They had Garnett III at RB who was a pretty solid RB for Westfield the year prior. He ended the season with 726 yards and 8 TD's much lower than I had expected. Their biggest struggle was QB play. One of their QB's completed 76 of 166 (45%) for 746 yds 6 TD's 9 Int's the other was 58 of 116 (50%) for 754 yds 7 TD's 6 Int's. There just wasn't consistent play at QB, one was a Junior and the other a Soph.

And had great success with Bell at RB he was pretty much a bulldozer.

Sounds like they should've lined up in the wing-t and ran people over all year.

It worked well for them from 2002 - 2007. 4 State Titles in 6 years.

What would it have been without Zack?

Fair point but winning HAS to matter.  I know they play a difficult schedule but a 4/5 star recruit should be a game changer at the high school level which means he has the ability to put the team on his back and almost single handedly win games.

I know football is the ultimate team sport and Mark would be deserving but this is my opinion.
