SEAL_63
Friday, Oct. 18 Mount Vernon at Jasper ©, 7 pm Vincennes at Princeton ©, 7 pm Washington at North Knox, 6 pm Seems fitting that the crowning of the final Big 8 champion will come down to the last night of football ever within the conference. In 1985, just 5 seasons after the Big 8’s inception, Mt. Vernon and Jasper began playing on the final weekend of the regular season. Of those 35 meetings since, none will be bigger than the one this Friday at Alumni Stadium. Both are undefeated in league play heading in, which hasn’t happened since 1990 when the two faced off in a Jasper victory. MV is without a doubt the surprise team of the year within the conference and maybe even the whole area. They’re sitting at (6-2) and are looking for their first Big 8 title ever! Problem is... they haven’t beaten Jasper since 1989. So as much fun as it would be to see a monumental upset, I think the Cats wins pretty handily here. - Lincoln looks to take care of business while making self improvements going into postseason. The Alices should win big. - NK rolls over the Hatchets

MV has had a great season, but they traditionally struggle against power running teams, Jasper in particular. Their other lopsided defeat this season was to Heritage Hills. So congratulations to Jasper. 2019 Big 8 Champs. I guess it was meant to be...since the Cats own more than double the amount of football conference titles than the next closest program. SEAL_63
Lincoln 34, Princeton 10 Much like last season, despite being overwhelming favorites, Lincoln starts slow out of the gate and Princeton finds a way to make things difficult. It was only a 6-3 VL lead at the end of 1...somehow Princeton is offsides on the converted PAT, but Lincoln had to re-kick and missed...no opportunity to decline the penalty..play should’ve never been blown dead. Just an odd call that stood out to me. The Alices would push the lead to 20-3 at halftime, and 34-3 before starters exited early in the 4th. So the 2nd and 3rd quarters go much smoother for Lincoln. My hope is the cobwebs have been shaken heading into next week in what some are calling the de facto Sectional 30 championship against Sullivan. Just an odd call that stood out to m In high school offsides is always blown dead on all plays. There are no "free plays" like in the pros. You can decline offsides but you don't have an option to take the play as it was ran because there was no play. Declining offsides means there would have been a rekick with no half the distance to the goal enforcement. Not trying to shed any negative light on the officiating crew.
