temptation Posted October 13 Posted October 13 One week to go in the regular season but with the draw being last night, figured it'd be as good a time as any to generate some discussion around the 2A tournament. Adams Central looking to make it four consecutive trips to Lucas Oil with Andrean looking to avenge last season's semi-state loss on its home field. Sectional 36 boasts a handful of capable teams in the most balanced sectional in the state according to Sagarin. Will the survivor there have anything left? A handful of worthy squads in the south bracket. Brownstown Central has been on the doorstep too many times to count and will likely enter the postseason undefeated though this week's test against Scottsburg may be telling. Linton always has to be considered a threat, likewise for Indianapolis Lutheran and Triton Central. Lapel intrigues me also. This class may be the most unpredictable Temp's Title Odds: Brownstown Central: 25% Adams Central: 20% Andrean: 20% Linton: 10% Lapel: 10% The Field: 15% Whatcha say? 1 Quote
Coach Nowlin Posted October 13 Posted October 13 Give me the Field as that is where we are located, but I maybe biased 3 Quote
kdets89 Posted October 13 Posted October 13 A couple significant rematches from last year that could go the other way this year: Andrean/Adams Central (potential north semi-state) - can ACs team speed overcome the size advantage Andrean has in the trenches? Brownstown Central/Linton (potential south regional) - BC has been steamrolling teams all year. Can Linton get Paul Oliver the ball enough to keep pace (whether through the air, or in pistol)? I just hope we don't see any clips from this game posted as often as the "pass from the knees" last year. There's a lot of potential SF movement riding on this bracket, including a scenario in which three teams could earn their way into 3A (Andrean beats AC in SS, then beats Linton at LOS). Could also see some familiar names drop down. Should be a fun tournament! Quote
Coach Nowlin Posted October 14 Posted October 14 I always root for Brownstown Central to come out of the South, appreciate the long time tenure of Coach May and would LOVE to see that community punch that ticket to Indy, only have info from Harrell to 1994, has Braves made it before? @btownqbcoach1 1 Quote
jets Posted October 14 Posted October 14 I said it earlier in another thread- I think it is Brownstown to lose this year. 2 Quote

I’m pretty sure they made at least one and possibly two playoff appearances. But they’ve never advanced to a final. 1 Quote

As you can see here, Brownstown has been to semi-state three times but has never gone further. 1 Quote

Lost to Paoli in Round 1, who only made it because Lawrenceburg forfeited all their regular season games. Edited October 14 by Stoner 1 Quote
Indiansreloaded Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Don't count Eastbrook out this year. Coach Adamson has his team clicking on all cylinders as they snapped Mississinewa's 30 game regular season winning streak. Look for Eastbrook to make a deep run and very possibly play Thanksgiving weekend. 1 Quote

WCGrad92 Posted October 14 Posted October 14 I don't know how much SoS plays into the success or lack thereof for Brownstown. I have the utmost respect for what Coach May has done down there, and you play who you have scheduled, but I truely believe this has hurt them a bit come tournament time. I hope this year changes for them just a little bit. Since the team I coach would possibly see them in SS, I cant totally root for them, but if we gets turned away again in Sectional or Regional, I am rooting for them. Hard to root against Paul Oliver, the kid is a class act and a great athlete. Quote

One public school surrounded by a bunch of private schools in the sectional. Go get'em Bulldogs!!! 2 Quote
Basementbias Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Edit for OP, as Adams Central would be looking for their 5th straight trip this year! (3 in 1A & 1 in 2A last year) Go Flying Jets! Here is to hopefully another deep playoff to continue the tradition! 1 Quote
Komets2727 Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Adam’s Central is nasty and doesn’t get talked about enough. 4 straight trips to Lucas Oil and still overlooked on a state level 1 Quote
260AC Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Giving Brownstown 25% is wild, have they played a defense with a pulse? Quote

Not saying the defenses' they've played against are any good, but if you haven't seen their offense and the way they run it hop on the ihsaa network sometime and watch a game. It's very impressive. Really good athletes. It will take a very disciplined defense reading keys every single play just to be in the right spot to make a play, then you have to tackle their athletes that are pretty darn good. Their offense is fun to watch. Again you are right, not sure the defenses they have played have any discipline like an Adam Central or Eastbrook might have, but still going to be difficult to stop would be my guess. Quote

Gonna have to screenshot that one coming from a GS guy 😂😉 Side note but I was able to watch some of your game against Heritage Hills. Props to Gibson Southern for being able to finish that one out with the win. That was one heck of a game by two very talented teams. 1 Quote

In fact, I'm not sure there is another offense in Indiana that does what B-town does...which probably speaks to how dumb we all are and how brilliant Coach May is....the last offense I can remember running primarily the spinner series is Batesville back in the early 2000s??
