Guest DT
https://247sports.com/Season/2019-Football/CollegeTeamTalentComposite/?Conference=Big-Ten Say what you will about Urban Meyer, love him or hate him, he absolutely dominated recruiting during his stay in Columbus and built the most powerful program in the history of the conference. The Composite Team Talent Recap id one of my favorite reports. The single biggest stat to jump off the page in my view is that out of 25 5 star recruits in the entire Big Ten Conference, 13 of them are on the Ohio State 85 scholarship list. That is phenomenal, and represents a massive recruiting haul and complete domination of elite player accumulation by Meyer and his staff. Its no wonder the Buckeyes have rolled thru conference play undefeated. Despite the improvements made in Bloomington, Tom Allen's Hoosiers sit at #13 on the list, ahead of only Rutgers. New Scarlet HV Greg Schiano will be hunting down the Hoosiers quickly as he looks to upgrade his roster Maryland and Nebraska have a lot of talent, but are playing below their capabilities. At Maryland, its poor coaching and overall below par program management. At NU, Frost is trying to change the culture, Penn State is hanging with OSU on 4 star recruits, but losing the 5 star battle to the Buckeyes in a rout. Illinois looks like a bit of a sleeper. There is always talent in Chicago. Maybe Lovie is making inroads. Hard to believe how few 4 stars are at the bottom of the list at IU, RU, PU, , NW, MN and IA UM is a solid third, buts thats just not going to get the Wolverines anywhere near the Bucks in the foreseeable future. Guest
Just now, DT said: I dont buy that for a second. I've never seen a program barely escape so many potential scandals and land on their feet. Ever since the Tressel/Clarett days they have been shady and guys have even come forth. Clarett admitted he got paid for "odd jobs" around Columbus, Santonio Holmes recently came forward also. Then, after the tattoo fiasco (say what you will), they fall on the stake for a couple of years and hire the shadiest coach available in Meyer. He brings a checkered past with him (Aaron Hernandez, Percy Harvin just two examples) and OSU does not skip a beat. Zach Smith scandal? Ah, it was nothing. Let's suspend our coach for Rutgers, Oregon State, and TCU despite all of the evidence released pointing that he actively lied at Big Ten Media days about knowing about Smith's situation. Then he cites memory and health issues for his retirement but can break down film, analyze past games and is going to be on a sideline again in a matter of months. Fast forward to 2019...their star defensive player is found to have received benefits from a "family friend" he met in HIGH SCHOOL and the story comes out the week before they are scheduled to play MARYLAND...he is then suspended for that game and RUTGERS, yet comes back for the important games (PSU, Michigan). Don't even get me started on their current "transfer" quarterback... Where there is smoke, there is usually fire. O$U is the $EC of the midwest. It just means more in Columbus. Guest DT
It's all irrelevant and doesn't move the needle one iota Elite players want to play with other elite players It's the LeBron James Effect OSU continues to stockpile talent because they win championships and create multi millionaire NFL players Meyer said he would run an sec style program. He delivered OSU became elite prior to James’ NBA debut, so there is no “ effect.” What does running an “SEC style program” mean in your eyes, lol? Seeing this, I am assuming (yeah yeah I know lol) TJIS is what you meant when you said in another topic that some schools are willing to do what others won't? Guest DT
Its really more about the players themselves. These kids go to so many camps and they meet and become friends, and all then decide to go to the top schools only. You see a lot of this in post game handshakes where players know each other from elite camp participation. Look at the "middle America" jobs that just got filled. Arkansas. Mississippi. Missouri. Even Florida State. How can these programs really win when they have little to no access to the elite players. This is very bad for college football. It is already turning off the fan base. Arkansas played in front of embarrassingly low home crowds this year. Nebraska is going thru the same thing. A former blue blood that is struggling to survive. Look at Texas and texas A&M, even USC. These schools are not even mentioned anymore when discussing the elite programs. Oklahoma is right on the edge. If they played in the SEC or Big Ten, they wouldn't be anywhere near the playoff. There is no competitive balance in major college football. Unless the NCAA gets its hands around the problem, interest will continue to wane Edited December 14, 2019 by DT

Coach Nowlin
Legacy 4 star, Topp 100 player from nearby town from OSU takes off after not beating out Pete Werner. https://ohiostate.rivals.com/news/brendon-white-enters-transfer-portal Quote The former Rivals100 member was a four-star recruit in the class of 2017 out of nearby Powel (Ohio) and played his high school ball at Olentangy Liberty high school. White is also the son of former Ohio State defensive star William White who starred with the Buckeyes in the mid-to-late 80s.
