"Track Speed"

Good thing these guys don't listen to the experts on this board...

https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/stats/top-plays/fastest-ball-carriers

1.  Matt Breida - sub 11 guy in high school over 100 meters

2.  Cordarelle Patterson - 10.6 guy over 100 meters in high school

3.  Brandon Wilson - Sub 10.6 guy over 100 meters in high school

4.  Nick Chubb - Sub 10.7 guy over 100 meters in high school

5.  Christian McCaffrey - 10.7 100 meter guy in high school

6.  Saquon Barkley - 11.2 100 meter guy in high school

7.  Mecole Hardman - 10.7 100 meter guy in high school

8.  Darren Waller - not a track guy

9.  Odell Beckham Jr. - Sub 22.4 over 200 meters in high school

10.  Malcolm Butler - not impressive over 100 meters but a near 22 foot long jumper in high school

I was nice and didn't even include Raheem Mostert, Tevin Coleman, Tyreek Hill, Dalvin Cook, and DeSean Jackson.

Not only has their track speed "translated" to the football field, but it has also been a game changer as the argument could be made that the two FASTEST teams in the league are playing in Miami on Sunday.

Where you at @DannEllenwood?

Coach O loves the track guys.........

But the headline says Coach O likes "football players who run track."

Football players should run track.  Not all track athletes should play football.  Only on the Grid can that semantic argument turn into a 10 page thread.

Waller Gang

I grabbed him in OTAs for my dynasty leagues this year. People thought I was a bit crazy hyping him so much

and I laughed my way to few hundred bucks in my pocket and another trophy 🏆

Haha. Same!! My dynasty league feels stacked. Won title and own 2nd pick. (Traded Kittle mid season after having Waller and Mark Andrews)

@Temptation I admit I am confused by your opening line about these guys not listening to the experts on this board????? Has someone posted negative comments about track? Multi sport athletes? Or is there a topic somewhere you are referring to? Not trying to stir the pot, I genuinely do not understand the reasoning behind the comment.

Every year there are obviously multiple posts about why a certain player is really good or why a certain team is really good and as a part of the justification "track times" are mentioned.  There are then a subset of folks on here who will tear those comments down with arguments based around "football speed" vs "straight line speed" etc..  The debate will then turn into a discussion around how valid track times are or are not in predicting the success of a football player, and if does matter, how much does it vary at different levels of the game.

To be 100% clear, in a previous topic, I was NOT tearing any athlete, poster, anyone down.  I just made a comment (and defended it when needed) about football speed.

I wasn't even referring to your comment...just trying to classify how the debate goes every year.  "tear down" probably wasn't the best choice of words..."disagree with" would have been more accurate.

Thanks for the explanation. I guess I have not seen or don’t recall those conversations taking place.

Prepping some popcorn as I read @DannEllenwood (who will still probably claim he hasn’t read the original post) continue backtracking...
