Guest
As a spin off of the previous project, I thought it would be interesting to rank the previous 19 Mr. Football winners based on the 247 composite rankings. Thought it might provoke some interesting conversation. Enjoy! 1. Jaylon Smith - Fort Wayne Luers - 2013 2. James Banks - Ben Davis - 2002 3. Gunner Kiel - Columbus East - 2012 4. Hunter Johnson - Brownsburg - 2017 5. Brandon Peters - Avon - 2016 6. Morgan Newton - Carmel - 2009 7. Clayton Richard - McCutcheon - 2003 8. Terry McLaurin - Indianapolis Cathedral - 2014 9. Jack Kiser - Pioneer - 2019 10. Darren Evans - Warren Central - 2007 11. Desmond Tardy - Warren Central - 2004 12. Reese Taylor - Ben Davis - 2018 13. Jason Werner - Roncalli - 2005 14. Tre Roberson - Lawrence Central - 2011 15. Markell Jones - Columbus East - 2015 16. Charlie Spegal - New Palestine - 2019 NR. Dexter Taylor - Warren Central - 2005 NR. Warren05
Interesting to look at. My question is how do you truly come up with a ranking for these 19 outstanding players. Is it by by stats while still in high school, championships ( sectionals, reginals, semi-states and state championships), after high school accomplishments. You could argue that Wodicka had a better high school career that both Keil, Johnson and Peter's because he led his to to a state championship but it was in 3A and he did not have to play the likes of Cathedral, Warren, CG or BD like the other 3 QBs had to play against. PS-Kiel played for East not North.

This is pulled straight from 247 sports’ composite rankings coming out of high school so in a way, it measures potential at the next level. They got some right, they got some wrong. IndianaWrestlingGuy1
If it culminates in a pro career for rankings, Scary Terry McLaurin is about to blow this list up. Jaylon vs.Terry for the Indiana Mr. Football fictional championship of the world IMHO.

Well, hard to say he blew up at OSU since he was the cornerstone of 3 consecutive IHSAA titles for the Irish. But, I get your drift. He has stepped up his game at every level. Truly a mentally tough beast. Forget about his 4.35 speed.

Him being the cornerstone of those Cathedral teams earned him the award and a schollie to OSU... His performance THERE is the reasoning for his position in the NFL now. Plenty of Mr. football winners (as seen above) and 4/5 star recruits don’t come anywhere CLOSE to the success that Terry is having. Actually McLaurin's participation in an OSU camp is the real reason he was offered and played there. He showed his skills at a high level and the Buckeye coaches understood what he had to offer. He sure was fun to watch in high school!
