I see where schedule on Harrells site has been updated....

Hamilton Heights vs West Lafayette

Western vs Rensselaer Central

Tipton vs Lafayette Central Catholic

Cass vs Twin Lakes

Northwestern va Benton Central

All of these games should be reversed. The home team is normally listed second. The east division teams are at home this year.

Curious as to how 2nd, 3rd and 4th places were decided in the West ? They obviously did not play each other so can't use that other thing...

I believe there was a lot of politicking. Based on how LCC is handling COVID Tipton may want to line up a backup opponent. The LCC Volleyball team pulled out of the state tournament over the weekend.

From my understanding;

West Lafayette was fornatue to play BC, RCHS, TL, and LCC:   So common opponent there:   WL won all those games:   Then it went to Points Allowed to WL.

Sep. 11   Lafayette Central Catholic 1A © W 47 14
Sep. 18 at Rensselaer Central 2A © W 27 21 2OT
Sep. 25   Benton Central 3A © W 65 6

Oct. 9 at Twin Lakes 3A © W 49 14

RCHS 27

LCC  47

TL 49

BC didn't matter score as they had zero wins in West, so was slotted to face NW

EAST SIDE:  HH, Tipton/ Western all finished 3-1

Using same metrix, Heights gave up less to Western and Tipton, hence they get the nod for conference championship crossover

So between Tipton and Western:   Maybe they used H2H, to put Western over Tipton for 2nd place,  Maybe they used HH game where Western only gave up 19, even in loss, but Tipton gave up 21?

I know there was a thought once 1st Place game was determined and last place game was figured out, there was a chance to just match up teams so there was not replaying of games, at least that is what a couple of other coaches in conference had shared with me over the weekend, but must not of came to frution.

I know Coach Meeks said all week, he did not care, just tell  us where and when and we will show up.   So onto to Western, even for a 2nd time, still going to be a great opportunity for both teams.

Heights:

Thanks ! Benton Central was the other common opponent of those 3 and wondered if those games also factored in, which would have evened things out for LCC and TL if used points scored, and then went to something else.

Thanks again !

I was told it was indeed fewest points allowed that broke the tie. I know a few years ago it was point differential among the tying teams. That made more sense in opinion. At this point, it’s all about getting ready for the postseason anyways so who cares who you play.

If you ever get to play for the conference championship, it will matter.

We have but my comment was to pile on to what Nowlin said. We knew Heights vs WL but were unsure for a while about the other matchups. I meant it as, it doesn’t matter if you’re playing LCC, Rensselaer, or Twin Lakes. It’s all about getting ready for the tournament.

Heights still would have won a tie breaker if it was among the tying teams. If it was fewest points allowed, that is. Heights: 42, Western 47, Tipton 66. But I also agree, it's about getting ready for the tournament. Good luck to the Blue Devils, and all other Hoosier teams(except 1)!

Point differential between the 3 was Western +13, Heights -2, and Tipton -11 so Western would have won. But yes it was fewest points allowed.

I think moving to fewest points allowed was in theory to keep teams from running up scores if they knew tie breaker was point differential.   Just one thought,

But as stated, neither her nor there.

While I believe in theory that is the best way if all games between conference foes are factored in, but if only using games between the 3 vying for title then think they wouldn't be ruuning up score as games are too competitive then point spread mite be best. Just another thought !

POW POW

Ummmm ... should I tell him that I didn't have any picks last week? 😃

Reminds me of that old joke about the Cleveland Browns.  The Browns had just received the kickoff after their opponent's had scored.  The refs blew the whistle for the two-minute warning and, inadvertently, their opponents mistook the whistle for the end of game whistle and ran into the locker room.  Three plays later, the Browns scored.
