I believe JJ Watt started out as a TE in college. He is a great athlete. Would be an outstanding TE. But his aggressiveness and nasty demeanor lend themselves more to a defensive role. The kid absolutely dominates people You cannot control a football game from the TE position. You can control the game from a defensive line position. hhpatriot04
Best DT prospect since Ryan Baker? Chatard '04, ND commit turned to Purdue, emphasis on prospect because he didn't have the greatest NFL journey but still can say he made a roster. Apparently he was also a co-captain while at PU. The 6-1, 310 lb body (Day and many others) was the the nfl prototype over the past 7 to 10 years. We are seeing a move now to more length and less bulk. Curry and Booker at CG are ahead of their time. And kudos to the CG staff for putting these two kids into positions that maximize their playing effectiveness and their personal net value. I would say Sheldon Day has been more of an outlier the last 7 - 10 years. With players like Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy both being drafted high in 2010 and both being over 6'4" the trend has long been going towards length. Recently Notre Dame had DT that were drafted that exceded 6'6" (Jarron Jones, Jerry Tillery.) The NFL average is 6'3" for a DT and around 310, so the bulk is still there, BTW Sheldon Day only weighs 285lbs.

Purdue attempted to convert Gelen Robinson into a NT by bulking his 6-1 frame up to 290. Just doesn't work.

I believe he was on the same squads as Nick Temple and Deyshawn Bond (Univ of Cincy), Kiaro Holts (North Carolina), Kris Harley (Virginia Tech), Shakir Bell (Indiana State). Warren was loaded with D1 prospects back then. What happened? David Bell is the only P5 player to come out of WC in the past 3 classes.
