Week 5 game notes

-Central becomes the sole possessor in the SIAC, after beating an talented Jasper team. Very good win without Madison, which I don't know his injury. Jasper played Central very tough through all 4Q and about sent the game into overtime if they scored in their possession.

-MD dominated North all night long, due to North's starting QB out. The game was not close in my opinion

- Castle nominated Reitz, though I thought it would be an closer game. Is Castle an SIAC contender? We will find out this Friday against Jasper

- After an rough 0-3 start for the Tigers, they have came back with an 3-3 record and has the chance to improve against Reitz. Heard that Pence had an crazy 50 yard TD run.

- VL ends their 4 game losing skid

-Harrison and Bosse still continue to struggle

Interesting take on the MD/North game. How much defense does Bawdy play usually?

MD-Bosse: MD should handily beat Bosse, MD 45-7

Central-Harrison: Nothing much to say about this one, Central 60-0

North-VL: Depending on the QB situation with North, it will be an interesting game. VL can keep it a fairly close game, but I will give the edge to North 24-12

Memorial-Reitz: Memorial has the chance to go above .500 if they can win this game. However, the Panthers will be hungry for comeback after an embarrassing loss to Castle. But the Tigers are hot right now, while Reitz is struggling. This can be an thriller game, but, Memorial 35-18

Jasper-Castle: Game of the week in the SIAC. Jasper will face an underrated Castle team, which has held opponents below 7 points all this season. The Cats are looking for an comeback victory, make no mistake Jasper, this won't be a pretty one. Jasper 23-21

Massey Ratings Predictions:

https://www.masseyratings.com/team.php?t=14084&s=319659

Mater Dei(-38) over Bosse, 45-7, 99% chance of winning for MD
Central(-37) over Harrison, 44-7,  99% chance of winning for Central

North(-18)  over VL, 32-14, 84% chance of winning for North

Memorial(-22) over Reitz, 35-13, 90% chance off winning for Memorial

Castle(-1) over Jasper, 21-20, 54% chance of winning for Castle

I'm really interested to see the Memorial/Reitz game. Can Memorial continue their current streak or can Reitz bounce back and beat a middle of the pack SIAC team? I'm guessing Memorial handles them but we will see. Also Castle/Jasper will be a good one. I'm taking Jasper but it should tight. I just think Jasper has too much offense for Castle to overcome.

I watched the Castle-Reitz game last week, and frankly, I was not impress by Reitz at all. They seemed disorganized in my opinion

Glad the kids have had an opportunity to play this year. Overall though It seems like a boring year. I’m not sure if this is COVID related. Two new coaches who were put it impossible situations. No off-season to prepare new team. The top teams don’t seem as complete as years past. Lack of stand out players. Minus North RB and a few Central players. It’s just not dynamic in the SIAC this season..I don’t see much post season success this year.

I think Central has an possibility, but those East Central and Mooresville teams will be very tough, to ever comes out of Sectional 24

I would add Mater Dei and Vincennes to that list of SIAC teams with post season success this year. Both may be favorites to win their sectional....

Without question, the "no fans" rule has really sucked the life out of Friday nights.  Games are dead with no student sections.  Good team or not, we could always count on a large tailgate of parents and fans every week.   We had more fans at tailgates than are now allowed in the stadium.

I agree, I really don't see any SIAC team making much noise in the tournament.  IMO MD is the team with the best chance.  It's likely them or Tell City in S40.  Central is the favorite in S24, but I don't think they have the team to get past Mooresville or East Central as TigerFan20 says.  Who knows about North or Castle in 5A.  The QB is likely going to be out for a while.  Castle seems pretty one-dimensional.  Bosse has zero shot in S32.    Lincoln might win S30, but then they run into Lawrenceburg.  I could see maybe 3 Sectional champs, 0-1 Regional champs.

I think the local team most likely to go deep is Southridge.  I would have said GS early on, but their D is going to have to improve.

I'll agree that Central is the favorite to win Sectional 24, not sure if they have the athletes to go up against Mooresville or East Central. North's QB is out for a while now?

Don't think they will get Lburg till semi-state, last year they got the winner of sectional 29.

Lawrenceburg would play sectional 32 winner (SR, GS,...)

Castle's defense will keep them in games, but if they face a team with a stout run D, they may not be able to score enough to win. This week's game with Jasper will be a good litmus test for the post-season for them. 5A is basically a 1 or 2 horse race for the state title anyway. I don't see anyone challenging Cathedral barring some disaster. Valpo looks to be really good, but Cathedral is beating some of Indiana's best 6A teams and nationally ranked Ohio teams on a weekly basis.
