Bremen and Clay should switch opponents for the week. Better matchup for both teams.

Angola -- Clay is trying and Angola is not of the caliber they have been in recent years, but this is not close.  Doubt Coach Thomas will let it get completely out of hand.  JV should play 2nd half.

Bremen -- Bremen will win handily, but not hang 69 on Prairie Heights like Eastside did.  Needed week to let some guys heal and get the JV some playing time.

Jimtown -- Washington will get better down the road, but the jimmes win by 4 tds, at least.

Laville -- Lancers win easily, especially if Creed is out.

New Prairie -- Cougars claw the Wildcats over and over and pull away in the second half.  4th quarter there is a running clock.

Penn -- No undefeated team this week for the Kingsman.  The Indians come at the right time for Penn to feel better and get a win.

Elkhart -- Adams can't hang with them for a full game.  This one gets one-sided by 2nd half.

Not a great week for good match-ups in the NIC.  The last couple of weeks will be much better.  How many co-champs will there be in the South?  Can Marian run the table and defeat their rival?  Wasn't convinced back in August we would make it this far into the season, but glad we have.

Good luck to all teams.  Prayers for safe travels and good health.

Who is Marian playing?

They were to play Lima Catholic Central but since Ohio went to a 6 game schedule guess the game was cancelled.  It was in the paper Marian was not looking for a game but making it their week to prepare.

Interesting fact:

South Bend schools are 3-11 against non SBCSC opponents this year

The 3 wins came from Gary West, Woodlawn (2A), and Osceola Grace (non IHSAA)

Let's hope for a better finish.

I wonder is SBCSC athletics director Howard Edwards will look for a different placement of South Bend sports teams.

What happened to Creed??  Hopefully not just rumors and only facts....   If major that hurts clean down the stretch for sure!

Took a pretty good hit in the first quarter vs Bremen last Friday, stayed down a few minutes while the trainer looked him over and did not return.  Way he was holding his arm it looked to be a shoulder or collarbone issue.  There was a short segment on the 46 broadcast of the game where they were very gently removing his pads and jersey while trying not to move the arm up or out away from his body.

Maybe he gets back, heard he is a pretty tough kid.

Until they decide how many high schools we really need I would no see much happening?  Who would want them unless you join the 2 Hammond schools and Gary West.

Then you are adding additional travel

What about a conference with Benton Harbor and any other Independent Mich school?

What does South Bend have in place for a youth program? Start with 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. Then lay a stronger foundation in junior high.  Try to get families to buy in at younger ages.  I don't know the answer but you have to get the community to buy in.

The biggest problem is that there is open enrollment.  So there is no actual feeder to any high school.  There are a couple of youth football leagues, but they aren't very big.

The last time South Bend had really successful teams was when they switched the junior high sport seasons.  Football was in the spring.  High school coaches were able to help out and give better instruction.

Consolidation of high schools isn't in the picture for the near future.  So we will see what happens.

Any idea how many players each school team has this year?

Clay is 19-20

Adams

Riley

Washington

They have to shutter buildings..  They do not have the money to keep them all open and running

I wonder with Concord now looking for an opponent if they'll reconsider and play the Minutemen since Plymouth had to cancel the game this week.

Angola takes Clay to the woodshed. Different opponent, different week, same result.

Bremen takes care of prairie heights.

Jimtown should beat Washington pretty soundly

Laville picked up a nice win last week vs Knox. I'm thinking the Lancers have it in them again. Laville wins.

NP methodically beats Riley.

Penn gets a much needed win over the Indians

Elkhart has their way with Adams.

Not a lot of good/interesting matchups this week. Glenn and LaVille is really the only game that's outcome might be surprising. Outside of that, the average margin of victory is going to be 24+

What do you mean by "different placement?"

leave the NIC to make their own conference or join another conference

Wouldnt they be better off staying in The NIC if Penn and Elkhart were to leave?

Shut down Clay sports and consolidate to the other 3 schools.

Marian

New Prairie

St Joe

Riley

Adams

Washington

Bremen

Jimtown

Glenn

I am beginning to think SB could get by with 2 traditional high schools and one vocational high school

The superintendent is too busy looking at his national profile and awards to do anything like consolidation.

For the moment...there are 4 high schools.  I don't see that changing for a while.
