Center Grove's Eric Moore completes his 20 year climb to the top

When CG AD Jon Zwitt hired Eric Moore to take over the Trojan football program just over 20 years ago, the goal was simple.

Clear the Carmel-Warren-Ben Davis hurdle and take our program to the top of The MIC.

20 years later, mission accomplished.

CGs 28-13 win tonight over a game Lawrence North squad gives CG its first 7-0 outright MIC title.   Over the past 5 years, the Trojan machine has slowly and methodically passed all 3 of its top conference rivals, and now stands head and shoulders above the league with possibly the most talented high school football team in state history.  Moore doesnt have to do anything else from here on out.  He has achieved the goal, met all the marks, taken down all the demons, and created a program that is the envy of school districts throughout the state, and the midweat as well.

But it wont stop here. CG will play Cathedral in an Indiana showcase event next Friday that will feature thje states top two teams, and top two programs.  Center Grove is the standard bearer for public school football, while Cathedral holds that title amongst its PP brethren.  Another state tourney awaits Moore team, where his Trojans will be the heavy favorite to win his 4th title at the school.  And next year?  Center Grove, loaded with talented underclassmen, is the odds on favorite at this early juncture to repeat.

Nontheless, Coach Moore has reached the pinnacle.  If you dominate The MIC, you dominate the state.  They are one and the same.  Moore's 20 year run has reached its zenith.  Its all gravy from here on out.

Isn’t the pinnacle the state championship? Everything else irrelevant?

Hes been there and done that

He would tell you that standing at the top of The MIC is the more satisfying accomplishment

Not a chance in hell a coach would say winning a conference title is more satisfying than a state title. Delusional.

You are a very small minded individual.  The purpose of this thread is to recognize the climb and his total body of work.  You're cluless

Congrats to Coach Moore and the Trojans on an undefeated MIC season but that’s not what I was commenting on. I was commenting on your palpably dumb statement above.

If you weren’t so worried about contraction you might know that this isn’t the first time CG has gone 7-0 in the MIC.

They went undefeated in 2015 on their way to a state title.  Then they went 6-6 the year after.

Dang, that didn’t age well. And he probably already had his post written and ready and couldn’t wait to make it public. Facts always get in the way of good fiction.

Won multiple state titles? No pressure.

Ranked number one in the state? Cakewalk.

Nationally ranked? Not even breaking a sweat.

Mentioned in an award winning article on the universally acclaimed Gridiron Digest High School Football Forum? Nobody can live up to those expectations.

DT usually has facts completely way off. Before he makes statements he needs to check on what he is talking about.

Big Deal. So he has one 2 state titles instead of 3.   And he's gone undefeated twice in The Mic instead of once

Does any of that change the narrative one iota?

No it doesnt

For Moore, it's always been about the process of building.   Most of you goofs don't see that.  You focus on championships and titles and  individual honors

Bud Wright will not be remembered for how many games he won.  He will be remembered for building the legendary Sheridan program

Same for Don Howell at Hobart

Same for Chris Geesman at Penn

Russ Isaacs at Snider

Mike Goebel at Mater Dei

Bruce Scifres at Roncalli

Dick Callaghan at Ben Davis

You cats don't get it

Cominmg from the Region, I had never even heard of Center Grove until 2004.  Granted, I was away from the game for a while, but CG certainly was no state power pre 2000.

They surprised everyone with their first state finals appearance in 2000 against Penn.  Thats when the build started.  Having watched the program build over the last 15 years, this is the first time that I can truly say they CG stands head and shoulders over The MIC and is the best team with the best program in the conference.

No offense (especially if it was you) to whoever designed that spreadsheet, but as a spreadsheet lover and avid user in my professional and personal life, looking at that although I see why they've colored it that way, just makes my eyes sad.

It was designed for a specific purpose using the school colors to see at a glance who was where.

I stand by my statement. Lol.

In all seriousness, that spreadsheet could be a nice table with school logos using tables in a text editor like Word (can be exported as a PDF and turned into an image file).

It's perfect the way it is.  No need to change it for spreadsheet nerds

I like looking at the school colors

Very cool
