Memorial

Harrison

Central

Mater Dei

Jasper

Week 8 Game notes:

-Central is one hell of an team as they are the SIAC Champs. The offensive did its job, but that is one stout difference on holding the Knights to an FG.

- Jasper overcomes a late victory against North. That was also an great game for the WildCats, as they will go against VL this week

-North continues to trend down, after losing their 3rd straight game. Will be a huge statement to go up against Central

-Castle had a great defensive night, but had an terrible offensive night against the Bears. Big one coming up this week against an hot Memorial team.

-Memorial wins their 5th straight game after dominating VL and holding them to just 6 points. They also won with their Backup QB who had an amazing night. Can the Tigers continue their streak against Castle and go 6-3?

-VL struggled offensively all night long against the Tigers. But did well defensively, good a few sacks and TFLs. Bounce back against Jasper?

-Reitz has finally figured their offense and break their 5 game losing streak. Can they upset the trending Wildcats?

-Mater Dei and Coach Goebel. That's enough to say.

-Harrison and Bosse still struggles. Who will get their first win on the season?

Memorial -Castle Game: Memorial had an solid game against VL, is looking for their 6 straight game. Castle had a strong defensive night against the Bears holding them to only 14 points, while the offensive struggled. Tigers are still trending upwards, make no mistake my fellow Tigers, Castle will be wanting this one. Memorial in a tight one, 14-9 Memorial

Bosse-Harrison: Who will get their first win on the season? Let me go with Harrison, 35-21 Harrison

Reitz-MD: MD is surging past their opponents recently, while Reitz has lost 1 of 6. Though Reitz, has been the best this season they will put up a fight against MD, but MD will squeak the win out like last years game. Never underestimate Coach Goebel's Wildcats, 31-28 MD

Jasper-VL: The new bloods in the SIAC finally face each other. While Jasper has proven itself to compete in the SIAC, VL is still getting used, however, they have kept some games close to enough for their advantage. Give them a couple of years, but Jasper will spoil this one for the Alices, 28-10 Jasper

Game of the Week:

North-Central: Though we wished they would be 8-0 facing this week, this will be good match up still. Bears are the SIAC Champs once again, while North is looking like they may repeat another 5-4 season, after losing 3 straight.  Huskies will be hungry for an victory, but the Bears are too good right, 38-16 Central

I’m going:

Castle - tough to win against a quality opponent in HS with a sophomore backup QB

Bosse - having seen them both, Bosse is the better winless team.

MD - Goebel has his young team playing very well.  Reitz looked really out of sync against MHS last week.

Jasper - been playing the conference’s best very well.

Central - early in the season, I thought North was the class of the SIAC.  But they’ve stumbled pretty badly of late and Coultis has the Bears playing at a high level.

It's all on Twitter nowadays.... "barstool" Twitter accounts are one of the worst creations of social media.

Nah, I'd rather have the kiddos using "barstool" Twitter accounts than whizzing all over the GID.  There just aren't as many people closely following this year, and there there aren't a ton of SIAC folks on GID anymore anyway.  I think the Memorial folks are a little more tight-lipped this week than usual...    I'll take:

Castle over Memorial by 17.  Tigers will have trouble scoring, which means the D will get tired.  I expect Castle to pull away late.

Mater Dei over Reitz by 21.  MD is building momentum heading into the tournament.  Reitz pounded Bosse, but so has everybody else.

Jasper over Vincennes by 21.  I think it will be close for a while, but Lincoln can't start as slow as they did last week against Memorial.

Bosse over Harrison by 3.  The "yeesh" game of the week. Somebody gets a much-needed win.  I'm still pulling for our neighbors even though they made us sit on the visitors side.

Central over North by 28.  Central will beat you as bad as they can and tell you about it the whole time.  North is leaking oil something fierce the last 3 weeks.  I would have bet a lot of money after Wk. 2 that North would finish better than 5-4.

I’ll throw some predictions out there. I feel like this SIAC season has been more unpredictable than usual but with the fall festival being cancelled last week I’ve had more time to ponder on these matchups.

Castle 20-14 Memorial

Central 35-7 North

MD 16-14 Reitz

 Harrison 28-21 Bosse

Jasper 27-14 VL

Ski over Mt Dew

Roca Bar over Turonis

Midget Links (rip) over walthers

Hmmm...will have to decide this for myself. Never been to Roca Bar. Always hit up Turoni’s. VL makes back to back trips to the west side next year so I can sample each.

Hard to find cake in Newburgh these days. Wokeness has set in and cake is no longer allowed since it is a symbol of wealth and may offend those that are oppressed and less fortunate.

That’s a pretty cakey response, but I do appreciate the love for midget links. You might not be too bad after all...even though I have no idea what Pangea pizza is.

LOL.  Next to Brinkers on Greenriver.  Great pizza.  Not cracker crust dough though.

I’m a westsider.  We only know the Main Street Turoni’s and the Kentucky ave Roca Bar.

I was gonna throw Parkway Pizza out there, but I knew that would really confuse people.

I lived in Westwood apartments when I attended USI. I know all about some Parkway pizza. Lol

Pangea is to Turoni's what Panera Bread is to Subway....you're sounding like a private school kid Tango...LOL.

LOL.  That's a good comparison.  One of my best friends owns it.  A good ol' Vincennes Lincoln grad and a heckova athlete.   I prefer the term Catholic school.  In 1982, if tuition was what it is now, I'd probably be a Harrison grad...

I forgot... I forgot.... about Coach John Hurley.  Huge win for my Tigers.  Embarrassed I picked against 'em... If you need a coach, call him.  The guy wins big games.

Yeah, me too.  But it wasn’t pretty for either team.  Lots of bad penalties and huge loss plays.  Seemed like both teams had a bunch of 3rd and 30s.

But you have to figure out a way to win and congrats to Hurley for doing it without his senior QB.

What happened on Castle’s last play?  It was a complete pass...but I guess he never got it across?

BTW, what the hell has happened to North?  I mean, congrats to Sean Coultis and Central on the shutout and the 9-0 record.  I don’t want to take anything away from the Bears.  But the Huskies have had an epic collapse the 2nd half of the season.  They looked fantastic early on.
