FINAL SCORES

Central over Jasper, 30-7

Memorial over Northview, 28-6

Mater Dei over South Spencer, 37-0

Reitz over Harrison, 56-7

North Harrison over Bosse, 49-0

Any surprises? @Central

Central is a much, much better team with Madison healthy and playing.  I don’t want to take anything away from Boberg - who will and should be high in the running for POY in the SIAC.  But Madison just brings the Bears to an even higher level on both sides of the ball.

The Jasper team they just thumped was no slouch.  And look at the difference in scores with Madison playing vs sitting.

Assuming Central wins the sectional - which they should - the regional is shaping up to be an epic game.

In Sagarin the SIAC finished +24 in the non-conference games.  (Bosse was +2...yippee)  That is a +90 point swing vs expected results.  The change in ratings for North (who was idle and played all SIAC teams) should tell us how undervalued the SIAC was during the season.

Don't forget Vincennes!

It wouldn't surprise me to see 3A Vincennes, 4A Central, 2A Mater Dei all win sectionals. Central and Mater Dei will/can make it to state. If Memorial was 3A or in a different 4A sectional they could go far as well. I've got 5A Castle winning regionals then getting destroyed at Semi State by the Irish. SIAC is TOUGH this year!

A word on Sagarin.  After last night, Northview is still higher than Jasper...  Having seen Northview and Jasper, there is absolutely no comparison.  Northview might win 2 games in the SIAC, maybe.  Sagarin is still way off. We were 21 point underdogs last night per Sagarin.

Has anyone else noticed that the Sagarin  ratings have changed midweek on at least 2 occasions?

Yes.  Usually the updated ratings come in overnight after the Friday games.  As often as not there are yet unplayed Saturday games and often unreported Friday games.  I’ve assumed that was why there was an adjustment.

I think it’s also a mistake (not that you are Making it but I think others are) to assume that after Week 1 of Playoffs and adding 20 new teams everything just magically snaps into place.

If it takes the first 5 weeks of the season for Sagarin to start to make sense (which seems to be the consensus), I think it’s a safe assumption that it’s going to take another 2-3 weeks (minimally) for it to calibrate those 20 new teams.

We have been missing over 6% of the teams season long up to this point.  I think numbers as regards those teams are, literally, going to be all over the place with big moves both up and down until at least Regionals.

Bloomington North edges North

Castle by a FG

Central

Memorial

Alices edges Sullivan

Mater Dei by 10

Bgtn North by 2 TD’s over North- Huskies have lost their way

Castle by 10 over South

Central walks to the final

Memorial defeats Reitz again although closer this time

VL/Sullivan a toss up

MD has faced the best rushing attacks the SIAC has to offer and fared pretty well. North Knox cannot be taken lightly in this rematch of last years sectional title game. The Warriors are on a roll. Should be a great game. I’ll take Mater Dei by a score

I just think the combination of Madison, Boberg and Evans, wears on a team. We kept it close in the 1st half, but with a 250 lb guy running up the middle than you have Evans or Boberg sweeping around the outside it killed us. Their defense also did a nice job. They made us one dimensional and we aren't a passing team. Good luck to the rest of the SIAC teams!

I listened to your game while watching ours and really thought you guys might pull it off.  The long run by Boberg when you had them pinned pretty deep was a game-changer.  No question Central is a tough out and Madison makes them much better.  As things stand now, I don't see anyone in Sectional 24 beating them.

They will be tough to stop, but had we completed a few of our passes had a few end zone shots we could have kept it closer, our sole TD was a 30 yard pass. With EM being a passing team you might be able to keep it close. Is Pence back or is he out for the rest of season?

He was back against Northview and had a solid game.  But we lost 2 key two-way players to injury Friday night so things will be a big challenge from here on out.  We don't have much depth.

I saw the Norman injury in highlights and figured he would have to miss time. Looked painful, hate to see that. Who is the other one that got injured?

Bloomington North-North: Battle of the North School , however, I agree with Seal since the Huskies have completely dipped the last 4 of their games. Though North can keep it close with B-North. B-North does have IU Commit TE Aaron Steinfeldt.  35-21 B-North

B-South-Castle: I don't know about B-South at all, except their blow out win against Castle last year. This will be a different year, 20-17 Castle

Boonville-Central: Can't pick against the Bears. 45-14 Central

Memorial-Reitz: Who wants to go up against Central in the sectional final? I think Memorial gets a rematch against Central for the 2nd year in a row. Reitz will scare Memorial at first, but Memorial will pull away. 38-16 Memorial

Sullivan-VL: Sullivan is good, but its another away game for them. Give me the Alices in a close one and the upset, 24-21 Alices

Mater Dei-North Knox: Coach Goebels. 35-17 Mater Dei

After 3-4 inches of rain this week, it’s time to revisit the obvious... Castle’s equipment manager will be hating life Saturday morning trying to get the mud off those uniforms.

Hopefully the Warrick County School Board sees the difference of Boonville @ Central and BHSS @ Castle.

I still contend the 2006 Jasper/Central game was the last straw for the Owens and EVSC to push for turf.

No questions having turf fields makes a huge difference.  By this time of year everything would be torn to heck without them.

My only log in this entire season.  Congrats Castle on defeating the bhss panthers it had been a few years since they knocked off the panthers.    Only reason i logged in and it really wouldn't have mattered this year because   BHSS HC is in his first year and the panthers  were not very strong at the skill positions on offense. That being said im definately disappointed in the fact that every season no matter what bhss has had to drive to newburgh for the tournament game vs castle  5  times now (1983, 2015, 2016,2019,2020)  they have played in the tournament and every game was played at castle . The teams have only met once in reg season and that was at bhss .  Somehow bhss won 3 of those 5 road tournament games at castle , but that is a long long drive and certainly unfair  for every game to have been played at castle .    Seeding the brackets could be a solution most years  . Seeding isnt perfect as we know but most years i believe the correct seed would prevail.  Either way good luck to the knights  im a fan of bhss and whoever is playing bhsn or martinsville. And next week castle has bhsn hope they(Castle) can get the W. Good luck ....
