Do they bother to paint it green like a lot of schools do?  It must be tough enough playing on dirt, let along painted dirt.

Ya gotta admit it was cool on Sundays in the late fall, looking at the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium....we ALL knew what that field was....

Yep!  And some would say they just love "grass" fields.  Notre Dame Stadium was terrible until they installed Field Turf.

Cathedral plays on a grass field at their "home" at Arlington Middle School.

Since Arlington is now a middle school, then they keep the field in shape just for Cathedral? I'm assuming Cathedral pays IPS for the right to use that field. I also saw where Roncalli played Attucks at Northwest, another IPS school that is now only a middle school. Attucks does have a home field, but maybe not in the best shape.

We have someone helping with the field maintenance.  Some Cathedral grads have a lawn care business and the turf has been pretty good this year mainly because there hasn't been much wet weather.  Also the field is not used except for our games.  There's no band practice or anything else, that I'm aware of, on the field.  The facility is still quite nice.  I don't know what the financial arrangement with Arlington or IPS.  Someone who hangs out here may know more about that.

Cathedral might as well make IPS an offer for that field.

The field at Attucks is barely suitable for practice.  It looks almost abandoned.  It's sad to see the facilities that IPS schools have to use compared to some of the palaces in the communities surrounding them.  It would be nice for IPS to have one nice football field (Tech?) and let the other schools use it, like schools in other states do if they are in the same school district.

Pretty sure that lease has been discussed, but the length of that lease is where the discussion has become stalemate.  Cathedral wants the lease to be long enough where they are comfortable investing in the property, install turf and such.  Not sure if this is even actively being discussed any longer.

From what I heard, Tech has a nice, upgraded facility, mostly due to the NFL. When Indy hosted the 2012 Super Bowl, the NFL had or maybe still has a program that helps football programs in inner city schools.

Got that.  But those fields are used by other schools in case of a conflict with scheduling...thanks.

When has another team used South Side's field? Not saying it hasn't happened, it's just news to me if it has.
