North South Teams announced

Recommended Posts

YEARLY DISCLAIMER:

1.  You must make your indiviual region teams

2.  D1 and even most D1aa, or FCS will not allow the players to participate

3.  Its a REPRESATATIVE ALL STAR GAME:  Each team has to be made up of certain number of players from 1a, 2a, and each region must be represented by the quota established

4.  Always Really Good HS players get left off each year, but its truly a puzzle the coaches have to put together.  There might be an overall better player at a position group, but that player was a 5a player and you need to still fill a 1a spot, so it goes to the 1a player.  Just an example, it has been that way since its inception.

Congratulations to all players selected.

I would add disclaimer 1b. At the regional level, each coach is allowed to nominate 4 (I think) players. Combine that with your other points, and yes there are always deserving players who may not be named.

How is it determined that a kid makes the team at a different position than he played during the year? For example a QB makes the team as a WR. Not doubting he is good because he is a good athlete but how is it decided he is better than those who actually played WR?

did he make the region team as an "at large" offense player or as at Position such as QB ?

I will look that up. Maybe he made it as an At-Large and they placed him at WR for the game.

He played QB, made the region team as a RB, and made North/South team as a WR. The plot thickens. Not knocking the kid. He is a good football player and a good athlete. Having sat in region meetings, I am familiar with the process and I actually am familiar with the kid because I was a finalist the last time that job was open.  That's why I'm a little surprised. Good for him though.

When I doubt, I generally look at the coaching rosters and player selections both.

Sounds like a Swiss Army knife!  Perhaps the powers that be wanted him on the team for sheer athleticism.  Knew he'd help in some way or another?
