IMHO a better name and mascot than a generic, run of the mill Panther. Those are a dime a dozen. 1 1

They should be called the Hammond Ice Trains. They call those "reefers" in the logistics industry, but I could see why that may not fly lol. George Hammond also ran one of the largest meat packing pants in the Midwest at the time with the largest plant being in Hammond although Hammond Packers isn't that innovative. 1
jakone
Hammond could name the school after certain posters on this board who constantly seek attention. Ladies and gentleman I give you the Hammond Trolls. Edited May 7, 2021 by jakone

I used to go watch her play in youth tournaments. Her Mom Kate is a tireless supporter and she has been doing everything humanely possible to help these girls achieve such high levels of success at CP. She's good defensively at 3B and her bat is coming around. I think next year she'll probably be their shortstop. The big game now is (barring a sectional upset) Crown Point at Lake Central....for the regional title on June 1...I think the winner of that game gets to the state title game.

STATE LAW! I dont quite get this recent fixation with the name "Wolves" as a mascot. It made sense when the Minnesota Timberwolves adopted the name. Maybe we could go with the Hammond Bison or the Hamond Grizzlies or the Hammond Polar Bears.
Muda69
So girls softball is played with the players wearing tennis visors and not traditional baseball caps? Why?

This reminds me of my one and only foray into the coaching ranks. My older daughter was about 8, and I agreed to help out with softball. First practice and a little girl came over complaining that she couldn’t get a batting helmet to fit. I told her that was because her hair was “too big.” By the time I got home her mother was on the phone reaming me, as the kid went home and started crying because “Coach said I had to cut my hair.” I decided I was not cut out to coach girls. 1

Goose Liver
Not to beat the dead horse... NFHS Baseball rules SECTION 4 UNIFORMS Article 1 Uniforms of all team members should be of the same color and style. Caps and shoes are required equipment (no track spikes allowed.) When a player is required to wear a head protector, it replaces the cap as mandatory equipment.

MLB has no such requirement, neither does high school softball.
