Too bad he's focusing on saving time by abbreviating names and not focusing on the fact that the new numbers just came out that says that there'll likely be a deficit on his budgets for at least the next two years ... $1 trillion or more.

Yes, and too bad nobody in the uni-party seems to really care about reducing the size and scope of the federal government, i.e. cutting spending.

Case in point about out of control federal spending:  Pentagon Spent $4.6 Million on Lobster Tail and Crab in One Month: http://reason.com/blog/2019/03/08/pentagon-spent-46-million-on-lobster-tai

Quote

The federal government spends a disproportionate amount of its budget for outside contractors in the final month of the fiscal year, as agencies rush to blow through cash before it's too late. Among the more noteworthy expenditures in 2018, according to the watchdog group Open the Books, was $4.6 million for lobster tail and crab.

Such use-it-or-lose-it spending stems from the fact that each federal agency is given a certain amount of money it can spend on outside contractors for the fiscal year. If the agency comes in under budget, Congress might decide to appropriate less money the following year.

Or as The Office's Oscar Martinez explains to Michael Scott in "The Surplus": "Your mommy and daddy give you $10 to open up a lemonade stand, so you go out and you buy cups and you buy lemons and you buy sugar. And now you find out that it only cost you $9, so you have an extra dollar," he explains. "So you can give that dollar back to mommy and daddy. But guess what: Next summer, and you ask them for money, they're going to give you $9 because that's what they think it cost to run the stand. So what you want to do is spend that dollar on something now, so that your parents think that it cost $10 to run the lemonade stand."

It works the same way at the federal level. Just replace that $10 with $544.1 billion—the amount federal agencies spent on contracts in the last fiscal year.

Of that $544.1 billion, almost $97 billion was spent in September 2018, the final month of the fiscal year, including $53.3 billion in the final seven days of the month. That's compared to $47 billion spent in the entire month of August. As the fiscal year came crashing to an end, bureaucrats apparently did their best to spend as much money as quickly as possible.

The Department of Defense led the pack, spending $61.2 billion in September. The Pentagon was followed not-so-closely by the Department of Health and Human Services ($5.7 billion), the Department of Veterans Affairs ($5.4 billion), and the Department of Homeland Security ($4.2 billion).

Federal agencies spent $402.2 million on food that month, with the Pentagon shelling out $2.3 million on crab and $2.3 million on lobster tail. Also, "agencies spent $2.1 million on games, toys, and wheeled goods," Open the Books notes, as well as "$412,008 on paint and artist's brushes." A whopping $490 million went to furniture, including a baffling $9,341 for a Wexford office chair. Agencies also spent $49,515 for skis and ski poles, $11,816 for a foosball table, and $258,901 on pianos.

The biggest recipients of the contracts were a trio of military companies: Lockheed Martin ($8.3 billion), Boeing ($5.3 billion), and Raytheon ($3.4 billion).

That $97 billion last September represents a 16 percent increase from the $83.7 billion federal agencies spent on contracts in September 2017. The figure was nearly $73.6 billion in 2016 and $69.6 billion in 2015.

In August, a bipartisan group of senators that included Kentucky Republican Rand Paul wrote letters to 13 federal agencies expressing their concerns about wasteful end-of-year spending. Their efforts appear to have failed.

I have first hand experience with this use-it-or-lose-it mindset.  During college I was in a co-op program at Crane Naval Weapons Center (not it's name now), doing computer programming for a large procurement and logistics system used by the Navy.   Come September my manager would offer me weekend overtime hours if I wanted it,  not because my project work load actually required it.  His reasoning was that he had so much $ budgeted for yearly overtime and if he didn't use all of it he could lose for the next fiscal year.

Wasteful, wasteful, wasteful.  And all at the expense of the American taxpayer.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/03/11/politics/donald-trump-daylight-saving-time/index.html

Washington (CNN)After losing an hour of executive time to "springing forward" his clock an hour over the weekend, President Donald Trump voiced his support Monday to eliminate states' legal requirement of "falling back" an hour each year.

"Making Daylight Saving Time permanent is O.K. with me!" Trump tweeted.
One of the most common justifications for the time switch is the presumption that by extending summer daylight later into the evening, Americans use less energy.
It was the reason Congress used in enacting Daylight Saving Time during World War I and again after the United States joined WWII, according to author David Prerau, who wrote a book which traced the history of the shift on Daylight Saving Time.

The President supports making DST permanent (never change clocks again) -  Which means it will never happen.......

Omar Strikes Again: Trump Is Not A Human: https://www.dailywire.com/news/44530/omar-strikes-again-trump-not-human-ryan-saavedra

Quote

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) made dehumanizing remarks about President Donald Trump on Monday when asked about an interview she gave last week, saying that the president was not human.

Fox News’ Guerin Hays asked Omar, who has been engulfed in an anti-Semitism scandal, about an interview she gave to Politico last week where she attacked former President Barack Obama and suggested that he was a murderer.

Omar came out after the interview was published and claimed that Politico was lying about the interview and that she did not make those comments. Omar tweeted an audio clip of that segment of the interview that she thought exonerated her but it ended up proving that she did say it. After being mocked online she deleted the tweet.

"Can you set the record straight when it comes to the Politico interview," Hays politely asked.

Omar refused to answer.

"Do you think that Trump and Obama are the same, just different when it comes to their policies? Hays again politely asked.

Omar refused to answer.

"We understand that you refute this Politico story, could you just set the record straight so we can get your side of it?" Hays continued to politely ask.

Omar refused to answer.

"Do you think President Obama is the same as President Trump?" Hays asked.

"Absolutely not," Omar snapped. "That is silly to even think and equate the two."

"One is human, the other is not," Omar continued.

Omar has espoused demonizing and hateful rhetoric for years against those she views as opponents.

In 2012, Omar promoted an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory used by Nazi Germany, tweeting: "Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel."

If daylight savings time really doesn't save energy and doesn't help farmers, then wouldn't it make more sense to lock in standard time than locking in the artificial daylight savings time?  In another words, once we go back this fall, never change the clocks again.  Worked for Indiana for a long time until it tried to keep up with the Joneses.  Then again, maybe Indiana isn't the best state to use since, even as small as we are, we still have two times zones to start with.

College RA training guide: ‘Make America Great Again’ example of white supremacy: https://www.thecollegefix.com/college-training-guide-make-america-great-again-example-of-white-supremacy/

Quote

A white supremacy pyramid graphic recently used at a training seminar for Reed College housing assistants states the term “Make America Great Again” is covert white supremacy.

In an effort to discuss diversity, the student employees who help oversee dorm life were briefly trained using a pyramid that identifies various forms of white supremacy broken into two categories, “overt white supremacy,” which is labeled as “socially unacceptable,” and “covert white supremacy” labeled as “socially acceptable.”

“Make America Great Again” is listed as covert white supremacy.

Other forms of socially acceptable covert white supremacy, according to the pyramid, include celebrating Columbus Day, police murdering people of color, denial of white privilege, Confederate flags, mass incarceration, Eurocentric curriculums, racial profiling and colorblindness.

Kevin Myers, a spokesman for the Portland-based private liberal arts college, said the pyramid is only meant as a conversation starter for the training.

“It’s provocative, and that was the intention, was to present the RAs with something provocative and spur a conversation about the difference between implicit bias versus explicit bias,” he said.

“This is a way to provoke discussion about what people think is acceptable or unacceptable. It’s actually about tolerance, not about intolerance,” Myers told The College Fix.

The pyramid itself was not something created by staff at Reed, rather downloaded off of the internet by the college’s Office for Inclusive Community, he said. Myers said the pyramid was used for only about three minutes in an hour-long training session in January.

But a source from the college who provided a copy of the pyramid to The College Fix said they saw it differently.

“They’re actually training new RAs to identify and stereotype anyone wearing MAGA hats or t-shirts as ‘covert white supremacists,’” said the source, who asked not to be named to avoid retaliation. “This isn’t a whole lot different than saying anyone who wears a hijab is a Muslim terrorist.”

The mission statement for the Office of Inclusive Community states it expands “the scope of the academic mission by offering opportunities for students to apply what they are learning in the classroom to the outside world, especially as it pertains to social change, social justice, equity, and racial justice; and create positive structural and systematic change that advances institutional equity at Reed.”

The Office of Resident Life declined to comment.

Myers also told The Fix that Reed is a diverse campus, stating there is both a Federalist and conservative club on campus.

“It really is about how do we all get along in the same space? How do we not stereotype and make assumptions, but how do we just let people be themselves and be more accepting about that,” he said.

One of the examples of socially acceptable covert white supremacy listed on the pyramid is a Eurocentric curriculum, and in fact last year Reed College leaders agreed to revise a mandatory freshman humanities course focused on the Western Canon in the wake of a protracted student protest campaign against the class that decried it as too “Caucasoid” and “Eurocentric.”

Reed College describes itself on its website as “a community dedicated to serious and open intellectual inquiry, one in which students, faculty, and staff can fully participate, regardless of ethnicity, race, religion, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, socio-economic status, or disabilities.”

Note that this conversation did not take place inside a classroom—it took place in a training seminar for student resident advisors and housing staff. This is concerning, as part of a course's curriculum, one might reasonably expect this information to be presented by an academic expert on white supremacy, and the subsequent discussion to contain some nuance and room for disagreement. The Office for Inclusive Community, on the other hand, is an activist bureaucracy. What free speech assurances are there for students entering an administrative training program?

This is just a prime opportunity for someone on the internets to do a bad lip read to this video.

Wouldn't it be racist for someone to consider me (a white male) supreme, or privileged just because of the color of my skin and not how I treat other human beings??

Are you equating the words supreme and privileged (which wouldn't make muchh sense), or asking two different questions? Assuming you are trying to make sense, the answers to your two questions are: 1) yes, it would be racist for someone to consider you supreme -- i.e., a better person, of a higher quality in some inherent way -- compared to other people only because you are a white person, and (b) no, it would not be racist for someone to acknowledge the fact that simply being (perceived as) a white person provides a person with certain advantages (privileges) in our society that are not granted to most people of color.

The only reason "supreme" was put in my post was because of the term "white supremacy" becoming (IMHO) synonymous with simply being white.  Now the nomenclature appears to be headed to "white privilege".

So you are saying (based on the highlighted text) then it is NOT racist if one would consider someone who is (perceived as) other than white to be a person of less privilege?  (based solely on the color of his skin)

FYI - I really must have missed out on the "granting" of those "certain advantages/privileges" you touched on......care to expound?

The War on Red Caps Roars On: https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/03/violence-against-trump-supporters-make-america-great-again-hats/

Quote

Three recent prosecutions suggest that President Trump’s supporters who have endured abuse and violence for wearing “Make America Great Again” hats will receive justice.

  • Police arrested Ryan M. Salvagno, 19, of Somerset, N.J., on February 27. Two days earlier, authorities say, he hounded an unidentified 81-year-old man who wore a MAGA hat. Salvagno allegedly confronted the senior outside a Shop Rite in Franklin Township. Prosecutors say that Salvagno argued with the man about the hat, grabbed it, shoved the octogenarianto the ground (causing minor injuries), and toppled his grocery cart. Salvagno faces assault and harassment charges.
  • On February 25, Kenneth Dewayne Jones, 18, knocked a MAGA hat off of a 17-year-old classmate at Santa Fe High School in Edmond, Okla. “Are you proud of what you are wearing?” Jones asked his male victim. Jones forcibly removed the teen’s hat and yanked away his pro-Trump banner. Jones was cited for municipal assault and battery, requiring a $560 fine.
  • Zachary Greenberg, 28, was arrested for sucker-punching Hayden Williams, 26, at U.C. Berkeley’s Sproul Plaza, birthplace of the 1960s Free Speech Movement. Williams, a Leadership Institute employee, volunteered to help Turning Point USA register conservative students. On February 19, Williams manned a recruitment table bearing two signs: “Hate Crime Hoaxes Hurt Real Victims” and “This is MAGA Country.”

Cellphone videos show Greenberg, a software engineer, knocking over the table and signs. Greenberg hits Williams once, screams obscenities at him, and then cold-cocks him in the face. His swollen, black eye darkened subsequent TV interviews. Six days after Williams’s beating, he told Fox Business Network anchor Stuart Varney, “I still have ringing in my ears and other symptoms of a concussion.”

University cops arrested Greenberg on March 1. He is accused of felonious assault, bodily injury, and criminal threats, plus misdemeanor vandalism.

“This is the very epitome of fascism,” said Harmeet K. Dhillon, Williams’s attorney. “The use of violence to silence your opponents and making people afraid of expressing their views.”

Alas, these are not isolated incidents. Despite the Left’s relentless moans that Trump supporters are hateful bullies, this type of mayhem flows from Left to Right, as Trump haters force Trump fans to pay for their beliefs with physical injuries. And — think of the children! — they typically involve older people brutalizing younger Americans in MAGA hats.

....

So, severely neurotic Trump foes want to ban MAGA hats as intimidating and violent, even as Trump foes intimidate and violently attack Trump fans in MAGA hats.

The circle of psychological projection is complete.
