I'm back people. I present a new thread: MIC 2019. What a season it was for the Warren Central Warriors last year. They ran the table on route to the school's ninth football championship, a 27-7 victory over the Carmel Greyhounds. Can the Warriors repeat? Or will someone else have a say in it? I want your opinions for this coming season. 148 more days until high school football is back!!!

Go Warriors!!! 2018 6A State Champions

Some preseason rankings....don't mean a ton, but some expectations again for the MIC. 3 MIC schools in the top 100.

  • Carmel #35
  • Center Grove #74
  • Warren Central #81

CG will find out real fast....at Warren and Carmel in weeks 1 and 3.  Sandwiched at home with New Pal and Ben Davis in weeks 2 and 4.

That is a gauntlet but such fun for all involved.

Where is Carson Steele at career rushing ? Will he be a threat to break all time numbers? Probably school record state record may be pushing it?

I would say the state record will be almost impossible after what Charlie Spiegle will put up this year.. I think he is only 500 yards away from breaking the record, he will run for 4000+ this year I’m sure.

not sure why Stax.....

Avon is #13 and Brownsburg is #22.  7 of the 25 top preseason midwest are Indiana schools.  (all Indy metro area)

Maybe copy and paste it into your browser....

Working fine today, thanks.  Funny they put Ohio is the east instead of midwest. Would have significantly altered the ratings.

Personally I see another dominant year from the MIC as four teams are sectional winners and among the last 8 standing (Carmel, BD, WC, GC).

I then see another all-MIC state title game at LOS.

Anybody honestly disagree?

I would like to see the IHSAA split 6A into two separate groups of 16.

6A - 16 schools

Super 6A - 16 schools

This would create two 4 week tournaments for each class.  Add a 10th regular season game and a bye week after week 10.  The week 10 games would pit all 32 schools against each other, avoiding potential sectional matchups, and encouraging intersectional games.  Example :  Center Grove vs Merrillville

For starters the breakdown will be enrollment based.  Going forward, the classes will, be populated based on merit.  Schools in the Super 6A Classification will earn their status based on post season results.  Schools can move up and down from Super 6A to 6A based on results from year to year.

This format will break up the monotony of the the all MIC 6A final every year, and give other big schools a chance to play for a title.

Initial format based on enrollment would be as follows :

Super 6A

1112 Carmel High School 1359 1338 1267 1322 5286 2221 Ben Davis High School 1263 1075 1100 1061 4499 3433 Warren Central High School 961 962 960 938 3821 4344 North Central (Indpls.) Many schools who previpously had zero state title aspirations are now in the hunt for a blue ring.  Excitement and partiicpation are on the upswing.

CG would roll annually in this proposal.

Let me also add that I believe that BD would be a decisive underdog vs the sectional 5 champion.

CG, not necessarily.  Based on merit, they would likely bump up to Super 6A very quickly.  And there are some challengers in this 6A group :

LC

LJ

CN

Homestead

Solid programs.  With Coach Moore winding down his tenure, anything can happen.

I see what you are saying but in the case if LC, do we really want to see the 6th best team in the MIC in a potential “state title game” while the super 6a heavyweights battle each other and eliminate one another one by one?

I do actually like the proposal.  Just playing devil’s advocate.

This is very exciting news for Indiana football. But keep it in perspective. For some reason, Ohio is in a different region than Indiana.

I’ve seen Ohio football and I’m not impressed.

I’m sure this is tongue in cheek.  Ohio football from a pure depth standpoint crushes Indiana.  As it should considering the population difference.

Does that mean Indiana teams can’t compete with the best from Ohio?  Absolutely not, but come on man.

I see on 247 Charlie has offers from Army and Indiana State.  Can really see a fit with Army as a fullback, but not sure if he's interested in the military path.  Anyone with some additional insight about other potential landing spots following high school.

Love to see him run...when he's not playing CG!!  LOL!

Ran track this spring.  He looks noticeably faster this year.  Should be interesting.

Rinse and repeat... New season with the same 4 teams being mentioned as potential 6A champs... 6A has absolutely no parity... Maybe North Central can build on last seasons success and become legit contenders...

This is where Driven’s proposal makes sense.  CG is the only team in his proposal that can consistently compete with the other three.  It’ll never be “fair” but asking schools to compete in a tournaments against schools 2-2.5 times their size in terms of enrollment is asinine.

Which begs the question.  Why can CG do it with an enrollment of around 2500 (half of Carmel) yet no one else seems to have broken through and proven they can on a year in year out basis?

I have some theories but would love your input first.

I believe he ran 4x100 and 100.

Got it.  Just looked it up.  Thought he would be faster.  Didn’t crack the varsity lineup in the 100 (two can compete per event in the tournament) and ran on a 4x100 that finished EIGHTH at the sectional.

Where does he rank on the gridiron in terms of fastest players on the team?

What percentage of New Pal footballers compete in track in the spring?

Genuinely curious.

I don’t think that can happen this year. With Carmel being moved to a south sectional, I believe all MIC schools are in the south.

Carmel moves south in 2020 I believe.
