Big conference matchups this week.  Who ya got?

North Judson @ Knox

Pioneer @ Caston

Winamac @ LaVille

Bremen @ Triton

Culver @ West Central

NJ @ Knox - This is going to be a tight one. Knox got a much needed victory this past week, and being at home, I think they get the job done.  28-22

Pioneer @ Caston - No doubt Caston has improved but after watching Pioneer carve up LaVille’s defense, I’m going with Panthers.  48-7

Winamac @ LaVille -  Lancers need this one in a big way.  Only averaging a TD per game isn’t going to get it done against an experienced Winamac team and staff.  21-7

Bremen @ Triton - Triton has made strides but Bremen will be to much for the Trojans to handle. 34-14

Culver @ West Central - Cavs large in this one!  48-14

So Here is the skinny on some early HNAC games . . . . Congrats to Winamac on its victory over Pioneer.  Panthers were not at 100%, but we all know you play 'next man up' and give the Warriors a lot of credit.  Caston playing inspired ball, got a 'W' and battled Triton.  LaVille missing overeall team speed resulting in not as many points . . . . Panthers picking up a few players at a time and will get back to 100%.

NJ @ Knox - Some think this one could be close. I think NJSP has a lot in the tank. BlueJays in this one.

Pioneer @ Caston - As I said, Caston improved but if #10 keeps following his blockers, Pioneer could run over the Comets.

Winamac @ LaVille -  So Pioneer has a loss, LaVille a loss, this is a big one for LV.  If Lancers can get the offense cranking, we could have three HNAC teams with a loss a piece.  Got to score more than once a game to get this one.  WHS gets this one.

Bremen @ Triton - Bremen gets it done here.

Culver @ West Central - Pickin' the Cavs In This One.  Like What Coach Zehner does with the boys!

as always the game is better

So does LaVille get a loss since they can’t play?

Just like last fall in that if a game can not be played due to contact tracing, quarantine, covid . . . .  the game is a no contest.  No game played can not be counted in the standings.

It is unfortunate for both LaVille and Winamac.  These guys want to play and there is no one more disappointed than these boys and these coaches.  That is the competitive spirit in both programs.  They want to play this game!

Here is a forethought . . .  Both have a non-conference game scheduled on October 1.  Maybe this one can be rescheduled for October 1?

That is one way to give these boys and coaches a chance to play this game.

Just sayin' . . . . .

Well a lot changes in a few days.  Looks like Winamac is sitting out this week.  I guess we should expect an even bigger crowd this week at the North Judson v Knox game.

North Judson @ Knox-  Judson is rolling and they keep it going this week.  Starke County will be electric on Friday night as the Jays end their losing streak to Knox.  North Judson wins by 30.

Bremen @ Triton-  Triton is playing well and I expect that they will show up and give the Lions everything they can handle.  Triton by 3.

Culver @ West Central- culver hasn’t played in awhile.  They explode on offense and get a running clock.  Culver by 35.

Pioneer @ Caston- pioneer seems to get a little healthier each week.  Panthers by 28.

Clean sweep by the road teams this week.  Believe Winamac would have kept it going if that game could of been played.  Really a shame that it is not being played.  Could have been a good one.

Bremen beat Triton 35-7. Trojans committed 7 turnovers. The game was a lot closer than that, turnovers set Bremen up with short drives. I like that big running back from Triton, that kid was a stud. He reminded somewhat of Zander Horvath from Marian who is now at Purdue. Coach Younis has a good club, they will be a tough match up in their sectional.

Those are nice words.  But no one wins a game when they turn it over that much.  Anthony Schuh is the running back you're talking about.  He's a sophomore, but runs like a senior.  He's big, fast, and has a great straight-arm in the open field.  Very hard to bring down by one guy.  Triton also has a soph quarterback and a young line.  They obviously have a lot of stuff to clean up, but the future looks bright.
