And remember, Porter Rode had to sit 2 games only because of the EVSC and IHSAA. Of all the transfers from Central and other schools (most to Reitz, mind you) he was the only kid who had to hire a lawyer to get full eligibility... Disgraceful..

Interestingly, Paul Neidig recused himself from Porter’s case because he has known Porter’s stepmother a long time.  She used to babysit his kids.

But I don’t think it made any difference.

Right, and then questioned witnesses on the record during the hearing and injected athletics into a hearing where both schools had gone on record that the transfer was not athletically motivated. In IHSAA cases, the Courts call it the "poison-pill". Gotta love 'ol' Paul, Paul, Paul, he's always looking out for the kids....

Paul made sure lawyers were no longer allowed in the hearings so that he can continue to bully less sophisticated parents.  This is mostly due to Crown Point-based lawyer Michael Jasaitis winning every single transfer appeal he was a part of.  Jasaitis still advises families on how to approach the IHSAA when they are getting the shaft.

Michael is a big thorn in Paul's @$$ and a great advocate for families.

You know they are identical to last year, except home/away are flipped, right?

I thought there might have been some big shakeup in SIAC-land and everyone's weeks were getting swapped around or something. Couldn't fathom why an AD of a closed conference would ever, ever, ever want to go through that process voluntarily... unless masochism comes into play.

Yeah, if SIAC coaches have a bias against Memorial, it certainly doesn’t show up in the selections.  So I’m just not buying that.

I do think it’s probably safe to assume that he didn’t get any support from Zirkelbach - who is a Memorial grad.

I don’t know what led to him being left off.  I just think he got snubbed…happens to kids every year, really.  Probably some kids from other schools who also deserved to be recognized.

seems to mostly happen to ermhs kids

Reitz

VL

MD

you?

Reitz (pretty unanimous, questions on the RB, I’m assuming Davis will be looked at)

VL (8 starters return on the Defense, Hunt returning is huge for the Alices)

North (Returns 15 starters 7 on Offense and 8 on Defense, losing St. Louis is huge, but Rucker has promise)

Next in line (no particular order)

Castle (Questions on the O, Defense takes some major hits)

Memorial (Trenches are hit very hard due to graduation, lots of underclassmen skill players)

Jasper (Still need to check the returning starters, Jasper finds a way somehow)

MD (Completely new offense, as the Wildcats loses 9 starters, Defense should be ok next year)

Even though we both have VL as 2, I still have questions about them. We saw this year that they have the potential to be great, but then they turn around and look mediocre to bad.
I think it would be fun to see them make a deep playoff run.

I think Jasper has got another year left until a shot at the SIAC and a deep run. I think 2023 is going to look a lot like 2022.

MD losing a ton but they seem to reload instead of rebuild. I don’t think we will see them at Lucas Oil next year but then again I wouldn’t be shocked.

Memorial will probably do what memorial does. Turn it on when it matters most. That coaching staff has the ability like no other to get everything clicking come tournament time.

While Memorial has certainly been a really good tournament team, I think sometimes people overlook the Tigers regular season successes. Only 12 regular season loses dating back to 2016 season.  Averaging less than 2 losses per regular season over last 7 years. But I do agree about the coaches. They find a way to elevate the kids to a different mode come tournament time.

North always seems to under perform. I don’t see a top 3 finish for them.

I’ll go with

1. Reitz

2. Castle

3. Lincoln

May change as we learn more about teams but way too early prediction:

1. Reitz

2. VL

3. Memorial

4. Jasper

5. North

6. MD

7. Castle

8. Harrison

9. Bosse

10. Central

While MD loses a lot and has a ton of questions to answer on both sides of the ball, the JV and frosh teams were very successful this past season.  Should be more of a reload than a rebuild.  Biggest question IMO is who will be the QB.  I would guess that it would be Tate Mallory, who will be a soph next seaon.

Very solid nucleus on defense with Scheu, Stratman, Halbig and Turner back.  Two good OL in Goodin and Wilkey are the only starters back on offense, but the key is QB.  Stratman could be the main RB and is pretty good.  I think MD will be very run heavy until the QB situation is ironed out.

Depending on how quickly all the new starters acclimate to varsity ball, I could see them finish anywhere from 3-6 in the SIAC next year and another sectional championship.  Beyond that would be a surprise for me.
