Guest
Connersville basketball is ranked #1 in this weeks Class 3A Boys basketball poll Connersville football was previously listed as a contraction candidate in Class 4A due to chronic underperformance. The program is on a 5-36 run over the past 4 seasons and making another coaching change. The Spartans went 12-120 from 1998 to 2010 Would dropping a football program that neither the school nor the community cares about actually be a benefit to other sports that are competitive and enjoy success at the eastern Indiana school? Would the significant dollars spent on football be better allocated throughout the school to extra curricular activities that provide a much better ROI? Would EIAC "football schools" be relieved to see Connersville off their schedules? What are your thoughts on the subject?

Probably not if they value easy wins, especially when they can schedule the Spartans as their Homecoming opponent.
southend
No.I see athletes in the school if they have that high of a Basketball rating. Get a good “Bro” coach, and in no time at all the program will contend.
Whiting89
No school over 2a should contract just need to find the right coach and get numbers up what might be best for these struggling schools is go independent and schedule 1a to 2a schools
Bobref
I thought contraction was a “player safety” issue. 2

The only competitive sport there is boys basketball, and the only one they care about. You might as well drop every sport in that case. They don't spend any money on football right now, big reason they aren't competitive. Impartial_Observer
Radtke didn’t seem to have difficulty moving the program in a positive direction. Granted the town has changed since then.

Granted the town has changed since then. The late 80s early 90s were a completely different time for Connersville, the town still had jobs and there wasn't a massive drug issue. And even with that Radtke only had one or two winning seasons. Coaches like him and Mike Spencer had success everywhere they were except Connersville.
