Could Hammond become a future powerhouse?

Hammond voters approved a new school building referendum, with the likely outcome including the closure of both Clark and Gavit High Schools

That will leave Hammond's 4000 high school students split between Hammond High on the west side (new school) and Hammond Morton on the east side.

I love the potential of this new setup.

Both Hammond schools could become a contender in 5A down the road.

And a big boon to Region football in Northwest Indiana to boot!

Morton and Hammond High would both likely be 5A schools post consolidation.

The only only current 5A schools in NW Indiana are Michigan City and Munster.

Numbers/high enrollment does not translate into success on the football field.
