Heritage Hills 6-0 at Southridge 5-1

Recommended Posts

Not sure why everyone is getting so chippy about bulletin board material, or Big 8 vs PAC, or any of that nonsense.  This is a game between two schools 10 miles apart.  If you need anything to get ready for this game, then you are not the competitor you need to be.  Fact is SR has beaten HH  3 in a row, and if the Patriots don't focus in on what's coming this week, it could be 4 in a row.

I think the game comes down to the HH defense and what they can do to stop, specifically, the Montgomery kid.  Since the Jasper game he has started to play very good football.  Why bring up the Jasper game??  He seemed young and hesitant during that game and truly appeared like he had no interest in running the football.  The four games since he has steadily improved in all aspects.  His throwing-legit!  He has the ability to run around defenders, and has shown some glimpses of running through them as well.  If HH is going to be successful Montgomery has to be contained.  This is by no means taking away from the other group of RBs/WBs, lord the Raiders are averaging more than 50 pts a game in their last four!!

I believe this will be a very physical game.  One that has the possibility to go back and forth until the end.  I believe both teams show up and play their guts out because of what it means for bragging rights, and conference standings.  Good luck to both and stay healthy.

"I'd hate to see how he reacts to an actual troll after that reaction. Touche.  That offended and bothered by a prediction from an informed fan. "

Would the correct term here be snowflake?

Excuse me, but what exactly makes this guy an "informed fan"? Is it because he made a prediction about the GS-HH game and it came true?

Has he actually watched Southridge play? I am not sure there is an informed fan in all of high school football anywhere? Apparently, HH is 3 or

3+ scores better than us according to three people on this post. The Raiders will have to be awfully good then just to try to stay with the Patriots, much

less come away with a win. That will take an extraordinary performance.

SR had trouble putting away a Tell City squad that lost to Pike Central just 2 weeks prior.

Only replying to the part of the post about Tell City,  Marksmen are only averaging 11.3 ppg but the defense that only gives up 17.8 ppg can keep them in games. Marksmen have 1 shutout and have been beaten twice in games where they held the opponent to 1 touchdown.

Only 3 teams have scored more then 1 touchdown against Tell City one was South  Spencer who scored 14 in a overtime loss to the Markmen.

The other 2 Heritage Hills 49 and Southridge 31 and the Marksmen stayed with both in the first half , Patriots were up 14-0 at the half and Raiders led 10-6 at the half.

The touchdown Tell City gave up to Pike was a blocked punt that went into the endzone in the rain. And one of the touchdowns against SS was a tipped ball that just happened to fall in the hands of another SS player.

I see your point. They sound very similar to Princeton.

Still..HH is head and shoulders above the rest of the conference in my mind and I think they will show that in 3 days.

HH is a very good team but I don't know about being head and shoulders above the rest of the conference.

TitanPride, are you saying SR is close to HH? Because I'd say HH looked head and shoulders better than GS last Friday night.

Like I said, HH is a very good team and yes, they beat our butts last week. I personally thought the game was closer than the score. If we played them again the outcome could very easily be the same, but it also could be a one score game. I do think that this game between HH and SR will be a close one. And just because we need them to. GO RAIDERS!!

I think TitanPride is accurate that the game was closer than the score.  I also believe that Friday night's showdown will be a close, fun, physical contest.  Turnovers can always play a role in how the score ends up looking so that being said I will stay with Offensive line and turnovers will decide this game.  Cannot wait for Friday night

Traitor!!!  Ha just messin'.  The game with GS seemed closer when you look a stats on paper, but I honestly feel that that game cannot be related to this one with the Raiders.  Two completely different styles of play.  The Raiders are good, and their QB is the X-factor.  Cannot wait until Friday.

I think a fun stat/over under line is the game time from kickoff to final gun.  With both teams being traditional ground attacks, the clock could be moving

I would agree with that. I really doubt that the Raiders will run a 3-4 defense against a team that only passes 2 times a game.

Are you saying this because this is what GS ran against HH?  Or because SR typically runs a 3-4??  I always thought SR ran a four man front and it varied between a 4-3 and a 4-4.  I would be willing to bet that the Raiders come out Friday in a front the resembles a 5 or 6, with LBs walked up and all kinds of crazy stuff going on.

Southridge traditionally ran a 4-4 stack. Under the new coach, I don't know. But protecting your linebackers is the obvious counter to the Wishbone.

It really doesn't matter though. What matters is one on one match-ups in the trenches. Whoever wins that and takes care of the ball will win..

The 5-2 defense predated the 3-4, but are conceptually the same. Once you introduce an eighth defender in the box everything changes. What always made HH dangerous was the flexibility of the skill players... Blocking, catching, running. Even Cutler got his butt chewed when he didn't block on a sweep. That seems to be returning.

Totally agree the battle in the trenches and taking care of the ball.

Below  was on Heritage Hills Facebook.

Heritage Hills be playing Northeast Dubois in a rescheduled Boys' Soccer game on Friday, September 28th at 4:00 pm Central Time. They game will be played at Heritage Hills. Originally it was scheduled at Northeast Dubois

Soccer 4:00 at Heritage Hills, Football 6:30 at Southridge   so question I have is Will we have our kicker that's  99 out of 102 in his career on pat kicks ??

Are we going with the backup kicker?  I'd say we will have to.

This fight will be won at the line.  If the line play looks like last week we win, if not we lose.  I haven't seen those kids play with that much heart in a long time.  They play with that intensity and heart tomorrow night, I'm not sure who could beat them.  I love the Southridge game, as already stated, we are close with these folks.....I even have a friend in church that has a son on each team (one boy lives with his father in Huntingburg)!

The soccer game is home and starts at 4.  Our kicker is a gamer my guess is he will be sprinting on to Raider field at game time

Maybe we can get him a police escort for the 10 minute drive:17_v:

That's the 1 good thing about soccer the clock is 40/10/40 unless there is OT.   If its tight at the end, have him score a goal for the Jeeps and he makes KO with time to spare.

BTW, the scene, I predict....

About 35 minutes before KO, with Johnny Cash's cover of the Tom Petty classic "I Won't Back Down" blaring on the PA and smoke from grilling burgers and pork chops wafting throughout the stadium, a lone figure will emerge from the Raider locker room and slowly walk onto the perfectly manicured turf, helmet in hand - Tucker Schenk ala Willis Reed...  LOL

Good luck to both teams tonight.  Should be a doozy...

This game tonight turned out to be a dandy! Two tough teams duking it out.  Pats remain unbeaten at 7-0. Southridge is at 5-2 i think... Pats still have Forest Park and South Spencer left in regular season.... Southridge is yet to play Gibson Southern in a couple of weeks, I'm looking forward to see the results of that game.  Both teams played with no quit tonight, good game.
